Hamasaki Ayumi-san!

Post by Cardcaptor Takato » Mon Jul 26, 2004 10:44 am

I've recently become addicted to Hamasaki Ayumi-san's music! I love her songs and I think I might be becoming a fan. ^^;; I haven't listened to too many of her songs, but I've liked what I have heard so far. I've listened to Powder Snow, Surreal, Evolution, Fly High, Depend on You and Angel's Song. My favorite of her songs so far would have to be Angel's Song. It's just a very catchy song and I've must've listened to it a billion times already this morning. ^^;; I can't think of any of her songs that I've hated so far. I also think she's kind of hot... Anyway, what's your favorite Ayumi-san song and why?

I love songs that are harmonic or a love ballad. I really don't know why. Maybe's it's because they sound beautiful and are easy to sing to. I personally love 'Seasons' and 'Powder Snow' because of those harmonies. I also enjoy Ayu's cover of 'Night of Fire'. This isn't a ballad, but I like it because it's fun and upbeat. It would also be fun to sing at a karaoke bar, because the only thing that's different are the lyrics and it would be interesting to see people's reaction ^_^

My favorite Ayu song is Flower Garden, because it's so fun to sing along with the men in the background of the chorus. It sounds like a DDR or Parrapa style game song, and the "Yeah!" that comes at the end sounds like an indication of a completed course. ^_^

The other one I like is "Voyage" though I only have the acoustic orchestra version (Ayu songs have a LOT of mixes). And this gives me a chance to ask a question, probably in vain. I have the lyrics to the song, but they don't include the counter-melody that gets louder every chorus, and I'd really like to sing along with that. Has anyone seen those lyrics?

Beyond the singing though, Ayumi is 40 kilograms of high-grade, purely refined kawaii shoved into a little baggie. I don't know how anyone can see her without running up and hugging her. She's probably the prettiest Japanese woman I know of.

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

I haven't heard just a whole lot of Ayumi's music, but from what I HAVE heard, she's pretty decent. I'm not the biggest fan of j-pop (as a lot of it is really, really annoying), but I wouldn't mind hearing some more of her work.

Anybody know where I can find some of her music? (without using download clients such as kazaa. I don't do those anymore.)

Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I downloaded Ayumi-san's album, "Memorial Address" from Suprnova.org via Bittorrent.

I hang out on the Asian Music Livejournals, and they'll have some of her stuff. I see two songs on there now, but you might have to Friend the individual posters and you usually have to comment when you download.

Ayumi Hamasaki's pretty good, but her debut album, A Song for XX is kinda bland, and her Ayu-mi-x series has gone right down the toilet. Her recent single, "INSPIRE" kinda sounds like "Ourselves" and "GAME" sounds like "evolution" meets "Because of You," IMO. She still sounds scary live as well.
