Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson. Renowned American superstar and musical genius. The ever-eccentric King of Pop. The original dancin' machine. The "black man turned white woman", as some will claim. The alleged "child molester". The guy who wrote and composed "Thriller" (1982), the #1 best-selling album until "The Eagles' Greatest Hits" CD came along. A true legend, no matter what.
What is the rest of you good people's word on him? I'd say, even though he turned into a full-blown freak in the 90's, in the 80's he was a kickass dream-boat, and really, his music was grand regardless of the era. Just some of the best music of any genre of all time comes from him, in my opinion. I really hope, in the end, he isn't found guilty of all the allegations that were pressed onto him in the past 11 years.

I will admit I really liked him when I was like 6. (this would be around 1990). Looking back, you can tell why he was so popular back then. His songs were catchy, he is a wonderful singer, and (at the time) he was very good looking.
However, I can't help but say he is a freak. As much as I wish him the best. Just look at him. In my opinion, he's totally self-destructive. Look at what he's done to himself (surgically). Does he not see how horrible he looks now? I almost think he brings all this attention on himself, and on purpose. I think he has some serious psychological disorders that need to be addressed. And I say that with all due respect and with kindness too, cause I do really feel for him. I think the media picks on him way too much and he has a bad rap, but he did it to himself, which is the sad part.

I think he's mentally unstable. While I do think the media picks on him on everything, I think he brings it on himself in many cases. I don't think he's fit to raise his kids either (are those rumours about the quinteplets true?). I prefer to think of him as the talented black guy from the 80s with a bunch of kick ass songs, then the white plastic doll that's been left in the sun for too long.

I agree, completely...especially if you read about his childhood and the way his father was. And while many of the things he does are considered freakish, it's kinda sad how he's constantly pointed out. But when you do things like have your nose redone to the point that it no longer looks like a nose, or sleep (actually sleep, not sex) with children that aren't yours, or dangle your baby off of a balcony..you're kinda askin for it.peachvampiress wrote:I think he's mentally unstable. I do like most of his music. I think the guy has great talent, and his personality or quirks have nothing to do with that.

Awhile ago, when Sally Jessie Racheal was going off the air, she had clips from her show through out the years. She had one from the 80s where Janet, or Latoya, or one of them, was one and was saying how their father sexually abused them. I never heard about this, is it true?especially if you read about his childhood and the way his father was.

Though I've never been a fan of his music, I can see that he has talent. Like a lot of people said here, I also can't help but say that he is a freak. I hope he is charged. I think he is a petaphile who needs to get locked away forever because he's too obsessed with children. As far as the media picking on him all the time, he brought it on himself.
Yes, as far as I know, it's true. His father was horribly abusive, at least, physically and mentally, and I've skimmed through a book by Latoya where she mentioned sexual abuse.peachvampiress wrote: Awhile ago, when Sally Jessie Racheal was going off the air, she had clips from her show through out the years. Being obsessed with children doesn't necessarily make him a pedophile, though. It may be very well (and this is truly what i believe), that becuase his childhood was basically robbed from him, that he's trying SO desperately to live vicariously through these kids. The problem is, he's so mentally unstable that he's going about it the wrong way.Though I've never been a fan of his music, I can see that he has talent. The only people that know whether or not he sexually abused any children are him, and the children themselves. That's why I tend to not take sides.

But what makes me say that is back in 1993 I think, some people went after him for sexual assault and he payed them off I forget how many million dollars so that they wouldn't sue. I don't think someone would just make up a story like that, considering how Micheal is the way he is. He even admitted to sharing his bed with his children and said it was the best thing for a parent to do with their child. It's okay to do that occasionally, when the child is afraid of the dark or something, but when the child gets older, it's not normal to be doing that ALL the time with their children. I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear enough before. It's because of this that I do think he's a pedophile.Tiff wrote:Being obsessed with children doesn't necessarily make him a pedophile, though. Michael Jackson is a genius when it comes to music. He made great songs like 'Beat It', 'Thriller', and 'Billie Jean'.
However, he does have quite a few mental problems and I really think he should go see a psychologist or something.
I think I heard somewhere before that MJ does the things he does with children because his own childhood was taken away because of his career. Still, it doesn't justify what he was accused of doing.

Well, of course he paid them off. He's a multi-millionaire. It comes natural to him, and was probably suggested by his PR manager or something.RoastedTwinkies wrote:

And come on..they ACCEPTED it. I don't know about you, but if someone molested my kid, I'd want a trial and have them put away. Money wouldn't be the point to me...the point would be to get justice. That's what makes me suspicious of said accusers.
I already addressed the bed thing as being abnormal..but that can be tied to mental instability.
and as someone who works with kids..kids DO make stuff like this up sometimes..either that, or they're prompted by parents or social workers to say the wrong thing. There have been many cases where children were not abused, but social workers will say things like "Mommy DID hit you, right? She hit you? Yes, we know mommy hit you...The sooner you say mommy hit you, the sooner you can go." And children say mommy hit them, becuase they want to go home, or becuase they're too young to think of the right thing to do. These things have been investigated and proven.

His music is great. i enjoyed a lot of it up to that CD he released in 2001. It wasn't as good as his older albums. But as a person he obviously has a lot of psychological problems. He's obsessed with children and childhood, which is probably because he didn't have much of a childhood.. Even if he didn't assault any of those children what he does is rather inapproriate, having the kids sleep in his bed with him. I don't get how these parents let their kids stay with him in his room or whatever either. And you'd think he wouldn't have these kids sleep over anymore because of that case back in 1993. He would've avoided the charges he's facing now. As for his looks, he's so freakish and just looks worse and worse as he gets older. I don't understand why he'd do that to himself.

*Nods* that has ALWAYS been my thoughts about that. All it would take is for the kid's parents to go "Oooh we can be millionaires..come on, honey. Tell us what michael did...he touched you didn't he? You can tell us...." "...Michael touched my arm?" "A HAH! HE MOLESTED MY KID, SEE?!"peachvampiress wrote:Tiff...That is such a good argument. I've never heard anyone mention that before 0__o. That's all it takes. In my eyes, these parents didn't give a damn about their kid or seeing justice. They wanted money.

I'm sorry, but that's a little naive. Why couldn't someone make up a story like that? Authors do it all the time. Besides.... as you said, he paid them off. Money talks, and people are greedy.RoastedTwinkies wrote:

I have a lot of respect for Micheal Jackson. His music is wonderful, and still some of my favourite. And how has the world repayed him for his great music and dancing? By constantly putting him on the spotlight. The man has no privacy at all. Maybe it's just me, but I don't care about his private life. And the things he's done that people don't like... Let's look at them. After his son was born, the press hounded his house for days, wanting to see the child. Micheal finally snapped. While I don't like that he dangled a baby out his window, I can't say I wouldn't have done the same. I've never dealt with any of the shit Micheal has gone through, so I can't judge him. Everyone has a breaking point. If people would just give him privacy, I'm sure he'd be much more normal.
Now, about the plastic surgery. Who really cares? So he didn't like how he looked. Big deal. We don't attack the millions of people who get cosmetic surgery every year. Why is he any different? Because he's already famous. The world is so anxious to see celebrities scratching their asses that people will do anything to get pictures of it. These people need private lives, too.

Parakisu: I agree with so much of what you said. When a person is already mentally unstable becuase of constant emotional and physical abuse from his parents, and then he grows up to become a grand star, it's no wonder he snaps and does crazy things once in a while. They aren't RIGHT things...but I understand why he does some of them. That much publicity can make a person snap, and can make them do whatever it takes to get them off your back.
And the plastic surgery thing..that made me think. I mean, people don't point out all of those women on "The Swan" and go "OMFG, THEY GOT BOOB JOBS! ALL OF THEM!". Why, becuase they're beautiful? Pfft. I thought half of them looked better beforehand. But the point is...they attack him becuase they know it'll make people excited. Yeah, his nose looks weird...but leave it alone already.

I also agree with that too. I remember everyone was talking about the edited pic of J Lo with a smaller butt for the promotion of Gili (was that the name of the movie? I forget). It's pretty obvious that stars get sick of the media making a fuss over something as small as a haircut (ie, Hanson and the latest one, Ananis Morsette) or something major such as cosmetic surgery. Hanson have even spoken out about that. They've said it themselves. They don't want to talk about hair and makeovers. They want to talk about music. To be honest, I not only do I feel sorry for the celebs, but I do get annoyed when every time I turn on the entertainment news, I always hear about Mary Kate's 'anorexia' supposedly. Let the celebs live their own lives already! Who cares what's going on in their personal lives!Tiff wrote:Parakisu: I agree with so much of what you said.
