Hardest Video Game Challenges

Post by yoshmaster5 » Fri Jun 11, 2004 12:05 pm

Basicly what the title is. just post what you think would be a major video game challenge.

I'll start:

1. Beat Metroid Prime hard mode without picking up any: Missile Expansions, Power Bomb expansions, or energy tanks
-Adam Picard-
Blake? oh, like a coffee break!!
Poet? What is that? Is it tasty? Is it a popular new snack? Usagi, Stars 179

James: For some reason I'm seeing you in a nurse's uniform...
Steve: Thank you Jeff, that will be all. ... He's not here, is he? Oh God I've internalized him...
-Coupling; The Freckle, the Key, and the Couple who weren't

'Who will tell us about this? Oh, no it is didnt know New Orleans was underwater guy.'
-Jon Stewart, The Daily Show

2. Beating Banjo-Tooie without using ANY of the codes you can get during gameplay or collecting extra honeycombs.

3. Beating any 150CC cup in Super Mario Kart with your character being small prior to selection (I think it's the Y and B buttons you have to press).

4. Beating Super Mario Bros. 1, 3, or Super Mario World without grabbing a single mushroom or using a single item (not including areas in 3 and World where you MUST bee big to complete a certain area).

5. And of course, the obvious Zelda challenge of completing a game with the minimum number of hearts.

6. (except for final battle against Ganon) In the original Legend of Zelda, play through the entire 2nd quest without picking up a sword, until you reach Ganon.

7. Play through Adventures of Link without leveling up one catagory. (You can only level up two catagories)

8. Beat: Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask in less than 6 termian days. 6 counting the first 6 as a deku skrub. the final 3, beat all 4 temples, don't bother with unneccary masks, and beat Majora's Mask without being Oni Link (this paticular part isn't tough)

9. beat any first person shooter with the first weapon you get. *for Halo, only the first weapons you start with, any plasma weapons you can exchange for other ones of the same kind. Plasma Pistol for Plasma pistol*

10. Beat Either Final Fantasy 5 or Final Fantasy 8 with your teams average level in the single digits.

11. Beat Marvel vs. Capcom 2 with a team made of three Servbots.
You seem like the kind of person who'll lie.
However... this sword doesn't lie.

I think in FF8, the enemies' levels were proportionate to your own, so that's not quite so much of a disadvantage. Do it without any draws, GFs, or limit breaks, and that's tough.

12. Complete all 255 levels of Pac-Man

13. Match or beat any of these.
Things I think Are Funny Early in the Morning: If Batman were a Smurf: "Quick, Robin! We must smurf down to the Batcave and smurf the Batplane! Then we must smurf the batsmurf so we can smurf where the Joker is smurfing!"

The Croonerism Spate (explanations upon request)
Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

Sailorasteroid's right about the leveling in FF8. I'd say beating it at level 100 with no magic is a challenge, though.
It doesn't matter if you have GFs equipped, because the final boss kills them off as you use them anyway, so they're useless there.
Play through a gamecube shooter game *other than Metroid Prime* without going insane about how shitty the controls are.

Time Splitters 2 had wonderful controls, and that's on the GameCube. In fact, I've played several different GameCube shooters that had good controls. Can we keep the topic to actual challenges, please?

I think my brother and I beat the first round that way. I never got the transfer thing that let you bring your own Pokemon into Stadium (since it was his N64), which is why.

If you want real challenge you have to kick it old school.
Back in the day games were hard because they had to be. If you beat a game in an afternoon and it cost 60+ bucks you were not a happy customer. The games on the Nes are a reminder of how spoiled we gamers are these days. In those days no games outside of RPGs had save functions and some games didnt even have passwords. Everything had to be done in one sitting. Now thats challenging!
Here are a few painfull ones

1. Beat Adventure of Bayou Billy and make no audible profanity in the process.(trust me when you load this game up you will know what im talking about in under 3 minuets)
2. Contra and Super Contra: Beat the game with any of these stipulations
A. NO cheating of any kind
B NO continues
CNever falling in to your death
D Never getting hit
E Without dieing(At this point you are the man)
3. Ninja Gaiden 1,2, or 3: Beat the game without using any ninja weapons
4 Mega Man (any) Beat the game only using the arm cannon or without using any e-tanks, or both
5. NARC: Complete the game without killing anyone but the bosses or dogs(If i remember correctly in one level you have to kill a dog to get a key so dogs are ok)

For newer games
1. Maximo Ghosts to Glory: Beat the game with all the maiden's kisses saved
2. Medal Gear Solid 2: Beat the game on Extreme with out killing anyone but the bosses.
3. Devil May Cry: Beat any mode with only the pistols and force edge(Needle gun is ok cause you have to use it underwater)
4. Contra Shattered Soldier: Beat the game on hard without cheating.
5. Federation vs Zeon: Beat Arcade mode on the hardest setting without having to continue.

Oh ya I wouldnt make without the magic, the gfs, and the limit breaks or else my butt would be fried! Final Fantasy 9 was kind of hard because of the weapons too confusing!

Here are some more challenges.

Beat Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time with three hearts and zero deaths.
Beat Final Fantasy VIII without junctioning.

I beat Legend fo Zelda: Ocarina of Time with three hearts and zero deaths, and, with Final Fantasy VIII, my first time through I didn't know how to junction since Quistis's tutorials were so long and confusing, so I got to disc four and fought Adel about eight hundred times, then before I could beat Adel, my memory card got deleted and I had to start all over, but this time I learned to junction and beat Adel on my first try. That revenge was sweet.

i'm well good at Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Times and have completed the game many times since I love it so much, but i dealt i could do something like completing it with 3 hearts and no deaths...but then again it's worth the challenge even though it's vertically impossible 8)

Hardest challenge I've ever completed is beating FFVII with no Materia and no 'ultimate weapons' (which IMO, is harder than FFVIII without Junctions), but here are some other good ones:

Beat FFT using only Ramza
- Secondary challenge: Ramza must be a 'straight' character (he can only use one Job Class after Dorter and cannot equip abilities from other classes. If he is a Squire, he cannot use: Yell, Wish, Scream, Ultima, Cheer Up, etc. OR equip any of his special equips [Knight Swords, heavy armor, helmets, robes, etc.)

Complete the missions of Resident Evil 2's special characters (Hunk AND Tofu)

Speaking of Tofu, has anyone actually completed this?

In FFVII, defeat the Emerald Weapon without using the Underwater materia AND without using the Knights of the Round/W-Summon/Mime chain.

EDIT: I forgot my favorite one:

In Pokemon (I've only done it in Red/Blue, but it works in all of them) build a team that is all one type, and has no dupilcate members (and evolutions count as both forms. For example, you can't have both a Vulpix and a Ninetales if you're playing fire.) Also, these Pokemon cannot be taught off-type moves with a TM. The exception occurs for HMs needed to beat the game (Surf, Cut, Strength, and Flash)
Stop squirming, you're making the procedure more difficult.

Beat all three versions of Dracula in hard mode using Reinhart in Castlevania 64. It's hard because Reinhart sucks, is weak, and you have to stand away from Dracula to beat him, but Reinhart must be near the enemy to kill him (his whip doesn't go very far). If you ever play this game, Carrie is the way to go (plus her story's more interesting).
Peachvampiress has an account on DeviantArt. Insanity Within.
And a Myspace account for her clothing designs.

*outside of the tutorial* Only use the story character for all the battles during the entire game of Fire Emblem 7 *only: Lyn for Lyn's story, Hector for Hector's story, and only Eliwood for Eliwood's story*

the tutorial forces you to do things...
