So how long have ya all been gaming?

Video games and anime sometimes tie in with each other, plus video games kick ass. =P Discuss them here.

So how long have ya all been gaming?

Post by Luchia Nanami » Mon Oct 20, 2003 4:53 pm

My first time playing a VG was when I was ultra chibi. Just 3 years old! And the game was an arcade game the original Mario Bros. !

I played consistently on a relatives NES a for a couple of years and my parents finally got me my own when I was about 6 or 7 and since then I haven't slowed down!

I played a few arcades here and there, but I didn't really start gaming until the release of FF7 on the playstation 8)

The first system I've ever played was this thing called the Tandy Color Computer 3. It looked like a huge keyboard, but it let you play some cartridge games like Super Pitfall, Q*bert, and Castle of Tharoggad, an incredibly difficult DQ-like game. It also let you program stuff in BASIC, which to me was the best part of it at the time...geez, I had to have been 10 or 11 when we got this thing...loooong time ago ;_; *is old*

Aside from playing Pacman at the dentist's office an the couple times I played Tetris on a friend's Gameboy, my first major gaming experience would have to be when I bought my Gameboy Color and Pokemon Blue in 1999. Considering I was 15 at the time, I'd say I was a late-comer to video games. My family couldn't afford a game consule, I had to wait until I got my own money to purchase one.

Hmm. I have been gaming for as long as I can remember, and some of my best memories is going right up to the screen while playing Duck Hunter, and absolutely destroying every duck in sight.
Mr. James : Lost a satellite on liftoff today.
Dave : Cost?
Mr. James : 10 million dollars.
Dave : Result?
Mr. James : Extreme set back.
Dave : Milk?
Mr. James : Spilled.
Dave : Gonna cry about it?
Mr. James : Not even.
Dave : I''m sitting on a rather sharp tack.
Mr. James : That's gotta hurt.
Dave : Well, life's a bitch...
Mr. James : ...And then you die.
Dave : My...
Mr. James : ...oh...
Dave : ...my.

When I posted, I'd forgotten about playing it at my cousins' house when I was little. Whenever I went to their house, I'd always want to play it. Duck Hunter was such a cool game.

Me: This is coming from the kid who doesn't know what Viagra is!
Ko: It's cold medicine, right?
Our Group: NO!!!
Me: Can I just say?
Dylan: Sure, it's no weirder than what normally comes out of your mouth.
Me: (says what)
Ko: .....What's that?
Me: ......*starts crying*
Carley: STEVE! STEVE GET OVER HERE AND TELL KO WHAT VIAGRA DOES!
Steve: See, it's like this: The bridge goes up and the soldiers rush out....

Tiff: Aww, you killed someone for me. That's so sweet in a f***ed up sort of way!

When I was four or five my parents got my sister a NES. I royally sucked at playing Mario, but I still loved playing.

For life. While I can remember getting my first game system very well, I was playing before then and I can honestly say I can't remmeber a time where video games have not been a part of my life. Just look at my list of consoles in the other thread and you'll see what I mean, lol.

Since about 2000, when I asked my parents for a GameBoy and they got me a PlayStation. I was a little mad but I must say I wouldn't have it any other way.

since as long as I remember, but according to my parents, since I was two. The year was 1988 when I was two, so that means I grew up in the golden age, after the Atari had fallen and after Nintendo saved the dieing interest in video games caused by Atari's downfall, a perfect time to be playing. Judging from what I have from that era (just so you know, I never let go of my games/systems unless they really badly suck, like Home Alone 2 for SNES. One time, I sold Aladdin for Genesis to get 8 bucks, what the hell was I thinking at the time?), I'd say I started with Mega Man 2, Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt (both games on one cartridge), and I think either Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers or Duck Tales (I forget which Disney game came out earlier, assuming either of them came out at that time). I also have very vague memories of either playing and/or watching someone play the original Zelda and Zelda II and Super Mario Bros. 2. It must've been at my mom's friend's house, because I never got Zelda II for myself until 1995 ($15 mint condition. Ain't that sweet or what?), and I got the original Zelda at a pawn shop in about 1998 I think.

I think I was about five at the time, and I watched my dad play Mario for the first time...he also had to help us when we got stuck in the original Zelda

My first game was Super Mario World for the SNES (I think it was back in '91 or '92... I was in preschool anyhow). My skills at that age were... not great. I missed out on a lot of great games like Zelda until I was older. I remember my parents being amazed at the graphics of Donkey Kong Country... oh the nostalgia. I also liked Megaman Soccer a lot, although I didn't play a "real" Megaman game until much later. My parents sold my SNES a couple of years ago *sniff*, but I still have the memories. My old N64 broke a monthy before Gamecube came out. I really hope they decide to port some games from the N64, I miss it. I'm very happy with the SNES ports to Game Boy Advance. Yay! Fire Emblem!

It started when I was ten and I got a Sega Genesis with Sonic 2. I played that game so much and it made me a big Sonic fan. I was stuck on level two for the longest time though.

I once dressed up as Link for a Halloween party. It was fun hearing my mom call 'Hi, Link!' as I went past her booth that night. I would sometimes demonstrate a sword move or two, a la Link, with a cardboard Master Sword.
