I never liked Irvine. I kept him out of my party and his level is always really low in my games.
I always use Squall (duh, got no choice most of the game) and any two of the following: Quistis, Rinoa, and Selphie.
Squall is a lot like me, actually. Except cooler. Quistis is just damn hot, as is Rinoa.

FFVII is my favorite, but Tactics and V are close behind. All three had great characters and stories. Cloud, Tifa, and Aeris are still my favorite characteres in any video game to date, and they were all developed so well. And Vormav and Sephiroth were such AWESOME villians.
I hated FFVI. The story was good up until after the floating continent, but then it just fell apart. That and I hated Kefka. If there ever was a bad villian, he was it.

I like Irvine, you hate Irvine, however, there's at least one thing we agree on: Selphie sucks. I can't believe that little bitch managed to get a part in Kingdom Hearts, Quistis could've worked just as well (she could swing her whip like Selphie's jump rope).LadyFlameSniper wrote:Ugh I despise Irvine and Selphie for that matter. I've never done a no-Junction game, but I have done the no-materia game. It wasn't easy. At all. On a related note, has anyone tried a Straight Character Challenge for Final Fantasy Tactics? It's one of the few ways to make the game challenging, and they con be done on a variety of skill levels by using different Jobs.

I hate Irvine and Zell, and like all the girls in FF8.Yamato-san wrote:I like Irvine, you hate Irvine, however, there's at least one thing we agree on: Selphie sucks. I don't think Quistis should've replaced Selphie in Kingdom Hearts, though. Then she'd be a little kid and it would be slightly creepy.

Oh yeah I also like Zell. I usually like hot headed male characters so there's no surprise.
Hmm I rather have seen Quistis or Rinoa in place of Selphie. You do see Quistis as a kid in FF8 (and a lot of other characters including Selphie) anyway. But not Rinoa, so yeah Rinoa should've been there in KH instead of Selphie

I think Rinoa should have replaced Selphie, and Quistis should have been in Traverse Town with Leon, Aerith, and Yuffie. Or, since Rinoa and Wakka have the projectile attacks (and the whole point of the kids is to learn to fight against different styles), maybe Rinoa could have replaced Selphie, and they could've put Zell in for Wakka. But Quistis definetely should have gone with Leon and them. Maybe in KH2, they'll get to.

I have FF 8 and Tactics (love em both)
I also have FF 2 (US) and FF 3 (US) on an emulator
Actually what inspired me to download FF2 (US) was the Final Fantasy Celtic Moon CD, since the music is from that game. You guys HAVE to hear it!!!

I hate FF VIII.
I hated this game. Hated hated hated hated hated this game. Hated it. Hated every simpering stupid vacant player-insulting moment of it. Hated the inconsistant story rife with deux ex machina and plot contrivances. Hated the worst game machanics ever in a Final Fantasy game. Every character was a extremely powerful summoner and the trick to winning 99% of the battles is to repeatedly Summon. Hated the fact not only there was almost no point to use magic what-so-ever, but also it was always a bad idea to use magic since it is usually linked to your stats. Hated every angst-ridden character, especially that asshole Squall. I hate FF VIII.
Liked the mini game though.

Okay, here's why I LIKE FF 8:
1. Squall changes throught the game! He learns what love is and what it means to be loved. He also learns about what friendship is, too.
2. beautiful music (I actually applauded the TV when "Eyes on Me" came on!)
3. memorable characters (Irvine's funny!)

You have... some strange tastes as to what makes a good game.Sailor Sapphire wrote:Okay, here's why I LIKE FF 8:

Now that I'll have to disagree with. If you just keep using summons throughout the game, by the fourth disc your junctioning will be so gimp and you won't be able to kill anything, plusAya Reiko wrote: ...and the trick to winning 99% of the battles is to repeatedly Summon.
Ultemecia instantly kills your summons when you fight her
Oh and, one of my fave FF characters (see avatar) comes from FF8....LAGUNA!
