Since I never played the first game, I'm not sure. But he was definitely a trophy for Melee.

Nyassu did. Kind of the effect that Weezing does. Pay Day spreads around the Pocket Monster.

For the sake of me, and any others who aren't familiar with the Japanese version of Pokemon, please list the names of the Pokemon in English as well. I don't know who any of those mentioned above are, and only found out about Nyassu being Meowth because of J Anderson's post. And since we can't discuss the things if we don't know who/what they are, I (and I'm sure others) would appreciate it if whenever you discuss them, list their English name as well. It would also help us, since we would then know which Pokemon are equivalent in English and Japanese.

Nyassu: Meowth

Purin: Jigglypuff

don't know Japanese names for other characters.

Either way... I'm not sure about Nyassu being a character. If anything, REMOVE PICHU. jezz... if anything they should have put in a DIFFERENT Pocket Monster from the new series & games. Because Pichu is a WASTE OF SPACE in the SSBM series. Even Totodile would have been better.

Hopefully Kimori/Guputoru/Sceptile will be in the Next one.

I've been thinking about certain features for the new characters:

Ganondorf: everything that yoshmaster5 says, I completely agree with. He needs a good changing.

Team Rocket: standard kicks and punches (will vary in style though for both of them, depending on who they are), can change certain costumes, and maybe give them their own bazooka.

Ridley: I...never got very far in any of the Metroid games I own, so if anyone knows his attacks, please tell me.

Meowth: Pay Day, Fury Swipes, can be paired up with either Jessie or James (optional)

Princess Zelda: again, what yoshmaster said.

The thing about Team Rocket, though, is that they were completely different in the game than they were the show. And Nintendo had nothing to do with the show. So, they couldn't put in Team Rocket from the show, and the Team Rocket from the game were just trainers. So, none of the humans from Pokemon would make sense in SSBM2. Does that make any sense?

Jessie and James were in Pokemon yellow. Though they never really had a real rivalry with the main hero, they were elites. Basically, they were inserted as extra battle scenarios.

I do wish they'd not use so many of the "cute" pokemom as playable characters. MewTwo is playable, but a nightmare to unlock. And the cute Pokemon tend to be ineffective fighters.

Ridley mainly spat fireballs. Make him a faster, lighter version of Bowser with wings.

Now that I think about it, characters should react differently to blows depending not just on how badly they were hit, but WHERE they were hit as well (like say, below the belt, hint hint). X)

I agree, but I must give the XD face to this.

*Imagines Bowser hit "below the belt" (you people know what I mean) and Bowser emitting a high pitched squeal, falling down, and knocking half the staduim down the process*

But if you think about it, the game disc would have to be as big as a DVD to hold all the info if you were specific about parts AND characters. If you think I'm nuts, think about how many different parts of your body you can phisically harm!

I think they should get rid of all the clones in the next game, except Ganondorf and Falco. Adding Kid Icarus, Meta Knight, Wario, Samurai Goroh (why not? He's Captain Falcon's rival, after all) and Nyassu would make me happy indeed. And Diddy Kong, too, since Nintendo magically got hold of this character somehow from Rare after Microsoft bought them (as his appearances in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and the new Mario Golf game on Gamecube prove).

Have any of you played Mario 64? Well if you have you might remember Mario grabbing Bowser by the tail and you hear him saying SO LONG KING BOWSAH! He doesn't do that in Melee.. I think they should add that into "Melee 2". Like with DDR, I sorta suck at Melee, but my brother is awesome at it. He's beats almost anyone with Ness, Fox and Falco and he's trying other characters regularly. I used to play as Peach but I dropped out of the circle. My brother had learned alla the mind games and techniques. He's going to a Melee tournament this Saturday in NJ. I hope he wins. I want that MODDED PS2. ^^;;

According to my brother playing against comps can ruin your game. He says you should play against real opponents as often as possible. He used to play against comps and he still does... but as far as I know only in training mode. I bet he could beat anyone here. Yosh: Can you "wavedash"? These are the sorts of things that he's learned. If you visit http://www.smashboards.com (where he's learned alot of techniques) I'm sure it'll help you improve your game.

Back on topic: I think the KEY new character would be an anime character like Inuyasha or maybe even one of the Sailor Senshi lol.. That would be funny.

Do you read through threads at all before posting? Just curious, since stated by the author of the thread near the beginning....

You're not anywhere even in the ballpark, by pretty much basically leaving the video game world. List Nintendo characters you think would be good to include the next SSBM, not anime characters.

And to clear up the Sega character mini-controvesy in the thread, I would say to not bother listing any here, as SSBM games focus on characters from Nintendo-made games, with nice shinys that chronoligize Nintendo's legacy in video gaming. Characters in which have not come from Nintendo games should not be included as they don't have any correlation with Nintendo games at all.

lol It's called wavedashing. You basically air-dodge into the ground while moving (at an angle).. The people over at smashboards can tell you about it better than I can. It's a way of quickly navigating around the stage. I only know what it is because I sometimes watch my brother and his friends play. He's really good.
