Mortal Kombat!!

Post by RyanRaiden » Sat Mar 24, 2007 6:44 pm

I have decided to create this Thread, because as you all know, I love The Mortal Kombat Series. I have all the games on all systems, I have as much merchandise as possible, if something along the lines of Mortal Kombat Merchandise is really hard to find I will even go on Ebay to outbid other people/buy it/etc. (I am an uber-fan of the series, that's why I have like, everything having to do with it...=D!!)

My favorite character is Raiden, The God Of Lightning And Thunder. However, even though he is extremely awesome and is my top favorite, I do have other favorite characters: Good: Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Sub-Zero, (and good as of now) Scorpion. Evil: Shao Kahn, The Dragon King Onaga, Shang Tsung, Noob Saibot, Goro, Shinnok. Not for the gameplay alone, but the true reason I love the series, is because of its awesome storyline, about the Defenders Of Earthrealm/other forces destroying the forces of evil. Since Raiden is awesome and is my favorite character, I do have an opinion I must get out...I completely, 100% hate the direction he has been taken in to: instead of being the awesome, fighting for the side-of-good-Lighting-God, he has been transformed in to a corrupted God, with evil.

For those who are new to this excellent series and do not know how this came about, this is what has happened: In Mortal Kombat: Deception, The Dragon King has been resurrected, because 10,000 years ago Shao Kahn (who was pretending to be an ally of Onaga The Dragon King at the time) wanted power over Outworld. (But of course wanted control of all other realms he wanted to have power over.) So since Onaga was extremely powerful and of course much too powerful to be defeated by normal means, Shao Kahn poisoned him. So the Dragon King returned to present time (10,000 years later) when Reptile found The Dragon Egg, The Egg holding the reincarnation of Onaga, The Dragon King. Since Reptile physically is also extremely powerful, he was a perfect body to host the Soul of Onaga, The Dragon King. So, Reptile transformed in to the Dragon King, when The Dragon King's Soul entered him. But before that happened, this is what happened in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance: Quan Chi and Shang Tsung are enormously powerful fighters, and were both evil. They both struved for the same goal: immortality. They decided that since they both wanted the same goal, they would create an agreement: they formed The Deadly Alliance, as the two of them as I said are very powerful and could not be stopped by most. They decided that there were two people who would get in the way of thier goal: the evil ruler (at the present time) of Outworld, Shao Kahn, and the Mortal Kombat Champion who fights for the side of good, Liu Kang.

They pretened to show allegiance to Shao Kahn, only to betray him a few seconds later. What they didn't know at the time, was that the only reason they easily defeated "Shao Kahn", is because it wasn't Shao Kahn...it was an exact clone of him, created by the evil ruler's magic. Then, Shang Tsung, using his shape-shifting abilities, pretended to be Kung Lao, Liu Kang's best Shaolin Monk Friend. As Liu Kang was practicing his martial arts, Shang Tsung transformed back to his normal self and fought him. Though Liu Kang had the upper-hand and was winning, Quan Chi who was hiding and was out of Liu Kang's sight, shot an extremely powerful projectile at Liu Kang, which almost killed him. Since he was now weakened, Shang Tsung grabbed Liu Kang, and broke his neck, killing him. He stole his soul, for it would be an excellent addition to his power.

Shang Tsung and Quan Chi found The Undead Army Of Onaga The Dragon King, and using stolen sould they (one-by-one) resurrected the soldiers of The Dragon King. They created the soulnado, a tornado-like-magic-portal that steals souls from The Heavens, thus giving The Deadly Alliance an unlimited amount of souls. Since all failed to stop The Deadly Alliance, Raiden who was (of course) still good at the time, decided to go against The Rules Of The Elder Gods, one of the rules being that as a God you can not help fight with human beings.

Though Raiden was also extremely powerful (and was actually having the upper-hand and also almost defeated The Deadly Alliance) he could not defeat them, and The Deadly Alliance Defeated Raiden. However, as stated in the Intro of Mortal Kombat Deception...their victory was short-lived. Quan Chi had Shinnok's Amulet (the amulet of the fallen Elder God Shinnok) which held very powerful magic. Shang Tsung became jealous, and the alliance was broken just after defeating Raiden, they both fought, and Quan Chi in the end defeated Shang Tsung. But his self-victory was also short-lived, as Onaga The Dragon King found him in his palace, and since Quan Chi didn't know how he was resurrected, he said "No...it can't be!!", and Onaga proceeded on, and was walking torward Quan Chi. (Onaga wanted Shinnok's Amulet, because if Onaga had the amulet he could use it for extremely powerful evil uses.) However, Shang Tsung who was thought to be dead rose up, and again formed a temporary alliance with Quan Chi. They both started firing their projectiles at Onaga The Dragon King, which even though were very powerful, they only slowed him down. However, Raiden who also was thought to be defeated, formed a temporary alliance with the two out of desperation. Even though The New Alliance was very powerful combined, they still could not defeat Onaga The Dragon King. Raiden, realising they could not defeat The Dragon King, charged up an ultimately powerful bomb of lightning, and launched it in an attempt to destroy all three of the evil forces, even though it would destory himself which would not matter because as a God his soul and body would reform only a few minutes after dying...

Though it was awesomely powerful, it did not destroy Onaga, The Dragon King; it only weakened him for a few seconds. Even with his palace and army destroyed, he now had the amulet, to use at his will. This is the part of The Series where Raiden changed: Raiden reformed, though he didn't reform as expected; he was still The God Of Lighting, but now he was a very angry God: because he was mad at mankind.

The reason he got fed up with mankind, is because Shujinko, a very powerful warrior who fought for the side of good, was the reason Onaga was resurrected. Though it was an accident Shujinko of course did not mean to happen, Raiden didn't care: he decided that he could not let humans decide the fate of the realms, and also decided that anyone who tried to get in his way would be destroyed. So, that is why I don't like the direction Raiden has been taken in to; I hope that everything changes in Mortal Kombat 8, and he returns to his normal self. Well, again I decided to make this Thread because I of course love The Mortal Kombat Series, and I want to know your opinions on this awesome series, people!! So, feel free to post your opinions...=D!!
