Final Fantasy V a good game?

Post by Rin » Tue Dec 26, 2006 1:12 am

I got Final Fantasy V and VI for the PS1 a few years ago. I started to play V but I remember not liking it that much and never completing. I'm thinking about giving it another chance because maybe I was just too young when I first played and I'm in the mood for an SNES game. Is it worth it? Does anyone here like that game?

It's a great game, however, the PS1 versions of both games sucked. Why?

LAAAAAAAAG

Seriously, the thing that made me dislike FFV on the PSX so much was that the loading times between battles, opening menus, etc, was HORRENDOUS. It made the game just drag on and made it much more frustrating than it needed to be.

These issues are fixed on the GBA version. And yes, the game is rather good. It doesn't have a super strong story, but the job system is beyond fun, if you really want to exploit it to its fullest. I would definately reccomend picking it up for the GBA.

FF VI is by far the best final fantasy.

As for V. I enjoyed it but it was a bit unbalanced at times (espically the final boss).

Its worth playing either way though.

FFV is good if you're looking to pass the time. But if you're looking for strong character developement and a well developed story... Forget it. That's more FFVI's schtick.

But training the characters in FFV is really fun. Because your characters can change classes, sometimes I focus more on making the actual class stronger, so my characters end up getting really strong.

Thanks everyone.

My boyfriend actually just bought it for me for the game boy the other day since I had been talking about it.

I started playing, and I really like it so far. I really like the character Feris.

I think I just got frusterated with the job system a few years ago and quit because of that. We'll see how the rest of the game goes.

And I agree SOF, VI is the best Final Fantasy. I really need to play that game again sometime. I tried to get my friend to play it a few months ago but she went "Ewe! The graphics suck! I don't want to play!" (The only FFs she'll play is X, X-2, I guess XII now. Wouldn't play VII either but she'll watch AC. such a shame.) Anyone know if they'll be remaking VI for the DS?

VI is being remade for the GBA, and currently has a 2/5/07 release date. Got mine reserved and can't wait. ^_^

Alright, I bought this game a few weeks ago for the GBA and I just finished it. I really enjoyed it. I think I got frusterated with the job system when I first played the game cause I kept constantly kept switching the jobs thus making my characters suck. I really liked some of the odder jobs like geomancer, dancer, and gladiator.

And I tried to fight Omega but magic and physical attacks did zero damage so I gave up. And then some stupid dragon in a box killed all my characters after I hadn't saved for over a half an hour. Oh well, it was fun.

Is it just me, or was the GBA version much easier than the PS version? I felt the same way about IV.
