Final Fantasy XII Love Thread

Post by AnimeGuru0 » Wed Nov 01, 2006 11:43 am

^^ I'm only about an hour or two in but already it seems really cool. A WAY different style than past Final Fantasy games but this is by no means a bad thing. The battle system is like a tweaked version of FFXI. The opening FMV was AMAZING and really pulled me into the story and the world very effectively. I already feel for the world and its characters.

Funny story: In the first area where you can battle, I saw a T-Rex and decided to "own" him. Yeah, I pissed him off and he one-shotted me ^^ Death. Be careful =x (Libra ftw).

I have to go to the mall in a bit to give my friend his copy and his guide (I bought a metal DDR pad from him a couple weeks back but didn't have any money for it at the time without having to go to an ATM, but he didn't care, he called me up the other night and wanted some of what I owe him for the game and guide, so I just told him I'd buy him the game and guide), but when I get back, it is time for hours of FF12 goodness. It's been killing me having the game this long but not being able to play it yet. >.<

You should've read that warning in your guide to not fight it. =P

I'm about 5 hours into the game, and so far I am really liking it. I didn't know what to expect with all the changes, especially having Penny Arcade's view of the new system etched in my head, but I must say I am liking it thus far. Even with all the changes, you can still feel the FF feel to the game. The license grid is a nifty way to build your characters up, and the gambit system isn't all that bad, though I just got access to it. I like how you can have side quests as a bounty hunter essentially too. I can't wait to get farther into the game and really see it in depth, I didn't expect to actually start liking all the changes this early on. Vacation next week will be filled with FF12 goodness. XD

No. I refuse to open the guide until I've beaten the game at least once. It really really really ruins the game for me. I just wont have fun cause my first time through i'll be trying to get "zomg perfect" and that ruins all the fun of the game. I play through it once, with no help, and just ENJOY the game. Then, I use strategy guides in subsequent playthroughs to get the "zomg perfect".

I'm loving it. So freaking much. The battle system is awesome, and the voice-acting is vastly improved over X and X-2. This game is going to rule my life.

If I hadn't spent a little while reading the player's guide, I wouldn't have had a clue about what was going on in the opening cinematic. <_<;

I agree jeff about the voice acting, although I've noticed the sound quality seems like it's compressed (except when FMV is playing). Wow, THAT much voice acting huh? =) SE always pushes the boundaries.

Where's everyone at so far? We're just past the 50-hour mark, and every time I think we're getting close to the end, there's another large plot twist.

I love it, though. Absolutely love it. :) (BALTHIER. <3 )

I'm 65 hours in, and in a neverending dungeon -_-; I think this game is too long. Personally I think the main quest should take about 40 hours, then after that they can put in all the sidequests they want....But i'm to the point where I'm just bored with this game.

I'm also kind of upset because i'm at the end and seemingly nothing has happened really in the story. In the beginning of the game, a lot happened and that was fun. But since then it's just kinda boring ;_; Oh well. I still like the game, it's just kinda grinding for me....

I beat the game like 3 months ago, everything finished but the Bestiary and the 50 mill hp boss. It was an excellent game, very awesome, the only problem with it was....not enough story.

Wow, you got alot done. My father is tryin to finish the game 100%, but is doing a horrible job. He's up to Gilgamesh, trying to get that Zodiac spear and has 200+ hours. How long did it take you to do all of that?

I just started this game and I'm having a lot of trouble getting into it. I don't know, I think I'm about two hours into it. Does it pick up anytime soon? Right now it feels like a "been there done that" kind of deal.

Please tell me the story picks up. Right now it kind of feels like "look at the pretty graphics!"
