Agreed. The PS2 especially has a problem with loading times being less than 20 seconds long in most of their games.LadyFlameSniper wrote:And PS2 has plenty of good games. The system itself was poorly put together though >_>

Yes that's one of the problems... I've owned two PS2s within less than two years and my first one was the second model. I only had my first one for about a year. One day it started having trouble reading disks, especially the blue ones. You all know about that notorius disk read error right? Usually that means your system needs to be cleaned and it's more common in the first model. But in my case that didn't work, nor the tape trick. I also had to get some parts replaced, including the lens. After that it worked for a few months and then stopped working more than half of the time.
I learned the PS2 collects dust easier than any of my other systems. I constantly make sure the vents are clean. And keep it covered when I'm not using it. I think that was part of the problem with my first one. I would put it on the floor as I would with the other systems which caused it to collect more dust. It's also better to make it go on standby than shut it off after each use.
The whole situation with the first one pissed me off because I treated it the same way as my other systems. They all work to this day, including my SNES which I've had it for about 12 years. So it's like I didn't know I had to be extra extra careful with PS2. Sheesh.

Yeah, I've had similar problems with my PS2 as well. Being one of the half million idiots who got it the first day (one of my more prouder moments of my life ^_^) and hearing of the various problems, I knew eventually I'd be going through hell, and now am. I had the disc read error problem for blue discs about a year and a half ago, but didn't care too much since I only had 1 blue disc and could fight with the system to get it to work. However, this past April or so, it started pulling that stuff with black discs, which kindof pissed me off. I eventually called Sony to arrange it to be fixed at the beginning of this semester, and me and Hugh both sent ours in one day. We got them back like a week or 2 later, and Hugh's worked perfectly. Mine was recieved back with the drive jutting out a bit, which I fixed myself by slamming the thing back in (powering the system didn't move it), and with the disc cover pretty loose and eventually falling off, but it worked perfectly so I didn't care too much. After a few weeks though, I noticed that the initial load time after you put in a disc was getting pretty long, and auto-diagnostic only shortened the time, but I haven't had time to call them about it. I finally came to my house today and tried to play FFX2 but it just wouldn't load, so when Hugh get's back home with his PS2 I'm calling up Sony and opening a can of whoop-ass for them to fix my system RIGHT this time. -_-;;

I have a PS2 and a Gamecube, but I have to go with the PC for one reason: EMULATORS, more specifically, MAME, ZSNES, Gens, Magic Engine, etc.

Hey, we got the Jak and Daxter series, which maybe a worthy successor to the Crash series.Sailor X wrote:So am I. Plus, the good series, like Spyro and Ratchet and Clank. Unfortunately, most of the good series from the PS1 have gone to seed, like Spyro, Crash...Tiff wrote:I'm inclined to agree.Tempest wrote:PS2 ownz. ^_^
I like it because I can get the most out of it. Not only can I play PS2 games on it, but also most DvDs and PS1 games.
As for the DVD part, so can the XBox, but, however, I don't want to drop $20 for the remote that enables it.
Now I'm debating whether I should get an XBox or not.

Duo, please don't double post like that. That could have been easily combined into one post using the edit button.
