The Silver Lining is now available as a demo. Effectively, this is King's Quest 9, although Sierra stopped them from calling it this as it infringes on copyright.
There are 3 parts to this game:
Part One: Shadows
Part Two: The Two That Are One
Part Three: Eternities
The game demo is available for download here.

Flesh may cross the portal,
and seek it’s master Death.
Life may go where Death has trod,
and challenge, like Scheherazade,
he who reigns beneath the sod,
to spare a mortal’s breath.

Raising this thread from the depths...
I had heard tidbits here and there about this game, but hadn't thought about it until I saw the link to the game's main page in another forum. I've always enjoyed adventure games like King's Quest 1-7 (8 was an abomination, IMHO. I thought it tried too hard to be a wannabe Diablo as opposed to being a KQ game.) so this makes me a happy girl.
It's a beautiful demo, though still a bit rough in spots. From what I've read, this is the same demo that was given to VivendiUniversal (the owners of Sierra now) in response to their Cease-and-Desist and the subsequent fan outcry.
I am really looking forward to this, and am wishing for all the best for Phoenix Online Studios in their work on it.
Also, in addition to the game download, there's all sorts of additional media you can look at, including images, music, trailers, and more. I've looked through it all, and it all looks awesome!

What is life? What if all it is is God playing a game of The Sims? Or even his own version of Final Fantasy? ~Me
