That's "later this year"? *hopes so*
But geez, square-(p)enix is really trying to cash in on the FF7 train like no tomorrow. Judging by how craptastic FFX-2 was, I really wish they'd stop making FF sequels and stick to new original ones. Hopefully XII doesn't suck.

But, I agree with you, on the whole FF sequels thing. With the rate they make sequels, they'll probably run out of storyline ideas for new Final Fantasy's, thus possibly ending the story early. And I don't think too many FF fans would want that. >_>
As for me, one game I'm waiting for to come out, at the arcade, is Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA. *Convulses* I can't wait to play it, and I hope they plan on releasing it for the PS2 or something.

This is going to confuse the hell out of me for years to come. I kept saying, "Didn't they already make a FF XII?" Because of FFX-2.

And did you pick up the FFVI remake (not port, remake) that was released for playstation? Man! Those graphics were OFF THE HOOK. Terra, Locke, and Shadow in full 3-D! Check it out!

.........oh wait. It was just a technical demo.........Wait, scroll down a bit on that page........It'll link you to this.....

The Final Fantasy VII "remake" you speak of was just a technical demo, similar to the FFVI technical demo released for the PSX. The full compilation of what FFVII games are being made can be found here.

There are no plans to remake the original FFVII game.

As Bob stated, the trailer was a visual demo. It was to show the new system's video and graphic capacity. To let the masses see how nice the games will be on the new playstaion console. They used FF7 since it was a popular game.Septhiroth wrote:They have made FF remakes in the past. They bought FF's that were on the SNES to playstation, so why not do the same with FF VII? What was the point of that trailer then?
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

Fixed, bolded the changed word in the quote. You're using the words ported and remade interchangbly when they are two different things.Septhiroth wrote:They have made FF ports in the past. Port: A game which is moved from one console to another with virtually no changes.
Remake: A game which is moved from one console to another with considerable changes.
In this case, the SNES FFs are ports. When Square released them for PSX, they changed nothing of the game itself. The graphics remained, everything from the original wasn't touched in the jump to PSX. The only difference is that the PSX versions added video clips at certain points in the game (not to mention the load times were added in somehow but that's a whole different story).
Remakes would be something more along the lines of Final Fantasies 1 - 3. These 3 FFs were all on the NES. Yet when brought over to the PSX and GBA (and soon DS), the games recieved a huge makeover as well as various features not availble in the originals if I've read the info correctly.
Hopefully that sorts out that confusion.
Now going back on topic, one of the games I'm highly anticipating is DDR SuperNOVA. I'm obsessed with the DDR series and I can't wait for the new arcade installment. Then three more console DDRs this fall too. *_* New Super Mario Bros. for the DS is another I'm looking forward to. I know Tetris DS is out already but I've only played the demo via the download station at EB and I want to play more (and more importantly, own Bob online >P). Same goes with Brain Age, seems very interesting and I liked the demo, and I think I may have finally caught the Sudoku bug via that. o.o;; And how can I not mention the two new Zeldas coming out this year? I was kinda happy with the delay of Twilight Princess since I still have to beat Wind Waker. ^^;;

I would almost consider 1 and 2 to be ports too, but you're right, they are remakes. Enough was visually updated to consider them remakes, although they were a few console generations late *shakes head*.MarioKnight wrote: Remakes would be something more along the lines of Final Fantasies 1 - 3. SquareEnix: "Let's update FF1 and 2 to SNES graphics!! =D!!!"
Lowly employee: "Sir, but the SNES died like 10 years ago..."
SE: "SNES graphics! =D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
But yeah, FF3 is definately a full blown remake. Have you seen the screen shots from it yet? Beautiful.
And as for "bringing FF7 to the PS3 as they did with other FF games"........porting FF7 to the PS3 would be pointless since the PS3 will be able to play the PSX version of FF7 anyways.
So back on topic, since you brought it up dan, i'm really looking forward to FF3 for the DS. I can finally complete my original series FF collection! YES. Plus any game with a job change system (FFT, FF5, FFX-2) is freaking awesome in my book.

A re-release with a new translation would be nice though.AnimeGuru0 wrote:And as for "bringing FF7 to the PS3 as they did with other FF games"........porting FF7 to the PS3 would be pointless since the PS3 will be able to play the PSX version of FF7 anyways.
I'm looking forward to:
Hitman: Blood Money (A movie with Vin Diesel as 47 is being worked on. I'm crossing my fingers for it to be good.)
King's Quest Compilation (Now if one would be released for Commander Keen.)
And Elder Scrolls: Oblivion is already out.
Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you''ve got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.
