DDR songs that drive you nuts

Video games and anime sometimes tie in with each other, plus video games kick ass. =P Discuss them here.

DDR songs that drive you nuts

Post by SailorSpace » Sat Apr 30, 2005 12:45 am

Ok, admit, there ARE some songs off of DDR that can absolutely drive you crazy, just by the way they sound. My opinions may sound like I'm complaining a bit, but they are just my opinion.

My least favorite songs are:
Almost ANY song by the artist under the name "Naoki", because they all sound exactly the same synthesizer wise. There's always that annoying synthesizer sound effect in almost every song she makes, plus some of them feature Paula Terry and she just sounds like she's yelling, not singing.

"Let Them Move" by N.M.R., because those are pretty much the only lyrics, and their being shouted, rather than sung in tune.

"MAX 300" and "MaxX Unlimited" because their just too damn hard to learn how to play. lol.

"Bag", because I find dancing to a bag-pipe very awkward, lol.

These are pretty much my leats favorite songs. If you have any opinions, go ahead and post them here.

I thought I was the only one who thought Paula Terry is horrible ^^;; Naoki is good though in general, he does a LOT of the DDR songs under different pseudonyms.

Songs that annoy me... hmm... there are a lot.

Happy Wedding .... wtf o_X;;
Love This Feelin' ... no clue what whoever composed this was thinking, but it just sounds like a bunch of noise
The Whistle Song ... no need to elaborate :)
Silent Hill ...

........Naoki's a dude?

Anyway, I have to agree w/ you on Silent Hill.

Another song that drives me up the wall is Wild Rush (from Nonstop Megamix). IMO, sounds NOTHING like the original (which I like very much).

There's one that I always thought "fun" to dance to, but still nutty:

"Do it all night".

Imagine that, you're in a big arcade, there are lots of people around, and you're playing, "Do it all night".

Eeeeeeeeeeeck.

I'm SO lucky most people don't give a damn about English in France these days ¬_¬ ... (in that situation, at least).

Well, I recently bought DDR Extreme, as you know, and noticed a song by Junior Senior (Move Your feet) is on there. While Move Your Feet is a kick ass dance song in itself... It just doesn't feel right playing it on DDR. :?

The vocals in Daikenkai drive me insane after a while, which is why I didn't play the song very much.

Pretty much any song from E-ROTIC made me want to walk out of the arcade as well.

And I don't care for TaQ at all, with the exception of era (nostalmix) and stoic (EXTREME version). At least NAOKI has proved he can do a variety of music (bag, Sakura, Hypnotic Crisis, Let the beat him em!, etc.); all TaQ does is drum & bass and big beat.

Awww... I love Daikenkai! It's a really fun song to play. Although I guess the vocals could be better, yeah ^^;

E-Rotic is hilarious... how can you not love their lyrics  (if only for the fact that they are so horribly bad that its funny... "as hot as a fire and as strong as a tree" :P )

TaQ songs are pretty repetitive, yep. But I like a lot of the steps in them, especially Holic (which is my favorite DDR song to play period) and Sync is pretty fun too... I think that's him anyway o_O

One song that drives me insane HAS to be Synchronized Love (Red Monster Hyper Mix) by Joe Rinoe. I'm sorry, but it's like a copy off Erasure's music (that is, if they could get any lamer). Plus, the vocals sound like Cher, what's up with that?

Another one is 3.2.1 STARS by DJ Simon, Sounds too much like the Inspector Gadget theme, too me... Or at least a remix of it.

Oddly enough, 321 Stars is actually the #1 most played song at the arcade I usually go to according to the machine stats... I figure it must be because there's a lot of little kids that like it? *shrug* I agree that its kind of annoying also.

Another one that sucks...
"Be in my paradise", I did that for the first time the other day just to get a score entered in, and I'm never doing it again

Agreed. SO annoying. Definitely one of my least favorites, especially when forced to listen to it like 4 times in one day at the arcade.

Secret Rendevous (however you spell it). The steps are lame as heck, and the song sucks, nobody cares about the guy you want to have an affair with and your moaning.

Sky High. A lot of people I know like this one, maybe that is part of the reason it annoys me so much. It's just so damn poppy and happy cheesy sounding, not to mention the lyrics are just as corny. I don't like the steps either.

Crash. I can't believe no one's mentioned this yet. WORST... SINGER.... EVER. My ears bleed when this plays. A lot. X_X The steps are all right, but it's not worth the auditory pain that you have to endure to do them, lol.

I hate all of the commonly overplayed songs thanks to stubid newbies and idiots (my friends in particular) who only play their home versions and by that I mean the people that overplay the same songs when placed in a group setting. (Sorry Sylph). Songs include Drop the Bomb, Dynamite Rave, Sandstorm, and The 2 songs by Queen and probobly others I cannot think of at the time. Feel free to add on.

Eesh, that seems kinda harsh. Everyone has to start somewhere, and everyone is a newbie at some point. I agree that it can get annoying hearing the same songs over and over again, but if people are just starting to get into the game of course they are gonna play songs they are familiar with... it's the easiest way to start getting into something.

And so what if somebody only play homes versions? I very rarely played in the arcade for a long time until more recently. A lot of people don't have the money to keep paying for arcade rounds either, especially if they are learning and aren't that good yet and may fail songs... dropping a dollar every time to fail your first song hardly seems like a fun way to get into DDR. And that's from experience too, because I definitely had problems passing most songs in the beginning. So home versions were a great way to practice.

Anyway, back on topic *facepalm*

Yeah, the Queen remakes are pretty bad. The original songs are great but I don't really see how they fit into DDR at all, not really good danceable songs IMO.

While I will give credit to the fact that everyone is new to a game at one point intime I would like to stress the fact that I personally consider newbie to be a negative term. To me a newbie is someone who is unfamiliar with a topicyet thinks they are god's gif at anything the set their sights on doing. By DDR newbie I am reffering to those who play the same three songs over and over again simply because it is the only ones they are good at. It is in my belief that the only way to get better at something is to try a song, in the case of DDR, that you are less than mediocore at. The reason I still consider the above people newbies is stirictly on the fact that because they only play the same three songs it makes them unexposed to the greater beauty of it.

On to the fact about who only play their home editions I admit I am one of those people who like you, Sylph, mostly play at home. I suppose on that one I should have been more clear. For the idiots that only play on their home set it goes hand and hand with the newbies. Nothing to me is more annoying than going to a DDR party, yes I am geeky enough to throw them, than hearing sandstorm 50 times in one night because that's all any one wants to play. We actually started to have to limit the number of times specific songs were played becuase of the shear annoyance of it. Granted the play number was please wait at least three full cycles until playing the song again but the fact is still there. It is annoying to hear the same song 50 times. I apologize if I offended anyone with this statement I will promptly go back and correct it.

And now back on topic.
Thanks to the longwinded explanation of my stance *facepalms* I remembered that I greatly dislike Exotic Ethnic. Three times in a row every other set.

I can't believe everyone forgot Waka Laka and Witch Doctor. Not only are those songs really hard, but they aren't that good either. Thanks to a AMV at Otakon, I've had Waka Laka in my head for a month now -_-

Wanna bleed out your ears, but are tired of using an ice pick? Use "Crash!". lol, sorry, I've been watching The Soup too much.

Anyway, another song addition would probably have to be.... Hmm... A lot of the DDR EXTREME USA songs get my vote. It doesn't catch my interest to dance to a tone deaf version of "Like a Virgin" or "Waiting for Tonight". -_-
