firstly I'm sorry to have been gone for so long.
secondly, my reason has been research. yes the PSP costs $300 and even in some locations $400, package games seperately, a PSP bundle could cost anywhere from $400 to $600! some info I found out, there is one button on the PSP that is placed far too closely to the screen, and as such delays reaction, meaning when you do hit that button, expect nothing to happen unless you wanna break the screen with your button mashing. the widescreen is given an inferrior screen guard, as such, if dust gets into the PSP, it'll have dead pixels. and dont get me started on the frailty of the discs, I've heard that if you drop a PSP disc once, it'll shatter like cheap glass. the outside of the PSP is made durable, but the inside breaks easier than a pane of glass thats 1/32 of an inch thick.
the DS isnt really making money, and marketing is focusing on the GBA because people still havent gone over to DS, many nintendo fans(like myself), still remain loyal to the GBA and GBA SP(mines Flame color ^_^).
my vote on PSP is "HELL NO" as it's heavily flawed, and sony representatives dont care if the PSP is flawed, their responce to complaints mentioned about the PSP is "the consumer will have to adapt to the design of the PSP", thats WRONG! the consumer is always right. you design to the convenience of the consumer, Shingiru Miyamoto designed the Gamecube controller to the comfort of the gamers grip, so if Nintendo says the consumer has the last word, thats how it is.
my research showed that Nintendo is the only company that has not made a flawed game or handheld. look at Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and Game Boy Advance. did you see any problems? dead pixels? delayed reaction time when pressing a button? no, no, and NO. I say if you cant make a handheld to the convenience of the consumer, you should just fade to nothing. the Gameboy series has served Nintendo well, and the PSP is destined to meet the same fate as the original N-guage. you dont need psychic power to see that PSP will fall.
The PSP: Yay or Nay?

just a little comment on your post Raptor-
People will buy the PSP. They won't care about all that stuff, they will gripe but go- "Nintendo SUCKS. PSP rules, it has BETTER GRAPHICS MAKING IT GOD!!!!!!" my sister is like that. PSP won't meet the fate of the N-Gage, it'll probably act like the Dreamcast.

oh no, the moment PSP users find ALL the flaws, the owners will grow angry with sony's lack of compassion for the customer, and drop the PSP like a bad habbit. and as I know, it takes time to drop a bad habit, but once dropped, it'll be gone. dont forget, Nintendo has had YEARS to perfect it's gaming devices for each graphics system employed. maybe I should submit some screencaptures of the DS's gameplay to show you that the DS actually holds superrior power than the psp.

Or it could be that different people have different tastes and prefer the games for PSP then the games for GBA. Some people are willing to overlook flaws and just play the games they like rather than nitpick about a button being to close to the screen (personally I don't see how this could be a big problem for most people).

Raptor- you are too naive. at least american gamers, on average, we DON'T FREAKING CARE. they will act like Nintendo is just plain kiddy, and they forget that it's the Japanese gamer Nintendo listens to most! Sony, pays more attention to the American gamer. and Final Fantasy isn't even the most popular RPG series in Japan! It's Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest! Sony markets to americans, and they only see themselves in the gaming market. They forget all about Japan. I'm going to stop before I start ranting on and on...
