Hardest (and Cheapest) Boss Battles

Post by Ice Ninja Freeze » Wed Aug 11, 2004 10:54 am

You can post which boss form any video games you think is very hard and cheap

Carnage(Spider-Man/Venom: Maxium Carnage for the Sega Genises) Carnage is CHEAP! He's to hard to defeat, and on the final level "Ruin Boys Home" Carnage is impossable to even try to fight. You cant use you helpers and allies to fight Carnage. I was killed by Carnage a good 6-10 times

Demon Apsu(Sailor Moon:Another Story for the Super Famicom[Super Nintendo]): She is the final boss of the game, and fighting her for the very first time can be like fighting a boss with no wepons, armours, cheat codes, etc. She killed two Sailor Senshi in one hit, that's how hard she is. It took me a good hour to defeat Demon Apsu(That how bad I sucked)

Super King Bowser(Paper Mario for the N64): Super King Bowser, I dont like him. He so cheap that he heals himself every 3 rounds or so. Took me almost an hour to defeat Super King Bowser

Shawn Micheals(From Wrestlemania 2000 for the N64) He's so fuding cheap. He's too hard to defeat. Took 20 minutens of my life to defeat The Heart Break Kid, when it take me at least 2 minutens to win a pin on a wrestler

Dark Cloud(Final Fanstay 3 for the NES[The REAL FF3 only reason in Japan0] She is one of the most hardest FF bosses of all time. If your not careful, she can take you out in 2-3 turns. I lost to her five times.

Haruka/Sailor Uranus(Sailor Moon Super S for the SNES):Too damn fast and powerful. If you blink while fighting her, you are gone.

Hotaru/Sailor Saturn(Sailor Moon Super S for the SNES)Not as bad as Sailor Uranus, but she is kinda hard to beat. Took me 6 times to beat her.

Robotnik's final machine: Sonic 2

Okay... you have to first: Kill metal sonic, and then hit a big-ass robot that is a pain 8 times... WITH NO RINGS. one hit- you're gone. *shudder*

Ganondorf: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

For some reason i actually found him harder than his transformation forming Ganon mostly because all you needed to do was:
Keep going through Ganon's legs and hitting him with the megaton hammer and master sword (smacking his tail).
But unlike Ganondorf you had to defeat him by:
Playing tennis with him using his power balls how I like to say it ^^ and shooting lightning arrows followed by slashes from the master sword.
Culex from Super Mario RPG. I've never actually legitimately beaten him. The only way I ever beat him was through clever manipulation of invincibility items and the HUGE Red shell that you can wear as armor.

Any boss from the Lunar games. They tend to be really cheap, as they level up with your character. But not totally impossible.

Any boss that uses an all-death/petrify/zombify on the party.

Yunalesca in Final Fantasy X. Zombify, Regen, Full-Life, over and over. I hated her so much.

*blink*Hey wow Culex is a guy? I thought it was a girl for some reason. Err I never managed to beat him. My brother did though. Culex would be somewhere on my list. And I agree Lunar.. well Lunar 2 (didn't play part 1) had some challenging boses

1.Indalecio (Gabriel in the Japanese ver) without the limiter in Star Ocean 2. Not because I never beat him but I've only beaten him by luck, never by bringing his HP down to 0 using attack after attack strategy. By that I mean the only way I killed him is with the instant death projectile that the Algol shield armor gives off. The projectiles sometimes come out when the person who has it equipped blocks an attack. Without the Algol I find it impossible to beat him. Iseria Queen is hard as hell too, even worse than Indalecio/Gabriel. I could only beat her with the same cheap strategy.

2.Via Infinito from FFX-2 had plenty of pain in the ass bosses. Chac and the Trema were probably the worst.

3. Igniz in King of Fighters 2001. I'm pretty bad at this series but I still say he's a cheap bastard. lol I can beat bosses in other fighting games that I don't know much about in depth. KOF seems to have a lot of difficult bosses...

4. Parasite Eve's final boss at the Chrysler Building. For the sake of major spoilers I won't say who it is. You had to rely on Liberate so much and be at a high level. And it's HARD to level up in PE

I'll stop there unless I remember any other insane bosses later on.

Geese Howard from any game he appears in. He has that goddamned Raising Storm attack that he always uses when you are right over him...

I-no from Guilty Gear XX is cheap as hell, especially when she regenerates...

Yeah, is he hard. He makes Smithy and the final Smithy look like a joke. I tried to beat him with out cheat codes and died, hell is IS more powerful then Smithy.
If you beat Culex, then you are treated with the Final Fansity victory theme

I would disagree with that. Out of all the FFs I've played, Jecht was the easiest final boss by far. Now Yunalesca, as Parakisu mentioned, was a bitch to beat. She was definetly a lot harder to beat then Jecht.

I found I-No cheap and difficult the first time I faced her. But then I found out there's a simple strategy to get around her Megalomaniac attack patterns. So I didn't find her difficult after learning them

I agree Jecht wasn't very difficult. He did managed to wipe my party out once with his overdrive once because talking to him wouldn't make his bar go down. But it was because I had used the talking option too many times prior. You could even zombify him so that those 2 healing things damaged him instead of healing him.
Yunalesca was annoying. She kept wiping out my party until I learned that the zombie prevented getting killed by Mega Death

For me, Sephiroth as the easiest FF final boss though. I like him and all but he wasn't challenging in the slightest. You could also easily call it a day if you had KOTR.

It was the other way around for me in FFX, too - I had no trouble with Yunalesca, but Jecht? Hoo-boy, did I have a terrible time beating him. Maybe it's one of those things that depends on your party setup?

I thought the final boss from IX was the easiest so far. All you need to do is equip items that cancel out status effects, and you're good to go there.

I agree that both Lunar games have some hard bosses, but I think the second one edges out the first, especially the PSX version of Zophar. Holy crap, was that a hard boss. In the Sega CD version, Borgan was harder to kill, though he was no cakewalk in the PSX remake either.

I agree with Dan, Jecht was a PUSHOVER.

There are a few Xenogears bosses that were damn near IMPOSSIBLE, but I haven't played that game in a long time so I can't remember.

In Xenosaga, Cherenkov's Gnosis (can't remember his name) was pretty freaking hard, as was the boss in KOS-MOS's Encephelon (not the first time, but when you're there with the whole party, with Shion and chaos in the forest and Ziggy, MOMO, and Jr. in the city).

I can dodge that funky attack well enough, I just can't deal with the regenerating version because the only way I can beat I-no is to chip away at her until I beat her, and she regenerates far faster than I damage her...

Kingdom Hearts
I thought the first two fights with Ansem in Kingdom Hearts was kinda cheap since his demon grabs onto you and sucks your HP when you try to attack. Though after that it was extremely easy.
edit: sorry about that, I feel like such a goof for forgetting spoiler tags ^^;

*polishes something off*

MOD MODE ON!

People, PLEASE put spoilers over the names of non-obvious boss characters for these kinds of threads. For example: Ganondorf and Bowser are givens; you always fight them and they're KNOWN, from the beginning, to be the ultimate baddie. On the other hand:
Jecht is thought to be dead or missing, and it was pretty surprising to find out that he's one of the last bosses in X. Same with Ansem; all this time, I thought he was just a background character, but I was unfortunately spoiled about it in this thread.
Just use some common sense when posting about boss characters; basically, if it's something that comes as somewhat of a surprise (that is, you had little to no idea you would fight them), then play it safe and surround your quote - or at least the name of the character - with the tags. Or, do like Ni-ban Neko and LadyFlameSniper did, and just say "the boss in X-location in such-and-such game". Thanks.

MOD MODE OFF.

I find the doom 3 boss very hard.
You have to let your health fall to low levels then throw a spirit cubr at him to take his health away and add to yours. The problem is that if you don't have a clean shot you get a minion not the boss and when you do for the first time he does after you. Finally if the boss hits you once you are dead so in the end it is impossiable. (I was playing on easy.)
That bastard is actually easy to beat.
There is no need to let your health fall to low levels. Blast away only at the minions until the Soulcube is charged. (BFG works well enough.) Then lob the Soulcube at the Cyberdemon. Should take 4 to 5 hits before going down.

The Guardian, on the other hand, is a real pain in the butt. First you got to deal with the Seekers, then blast away at the blue aura as it regenerates more Seekers.
You seem like the kind of person who'll lie.
However... this sword doesn't lie.

I was able to beat Shao Kahn, but never without being "cheesy," by which I mean getting up close and using repeated short jump kicks, which he always blocked but never counterattacked. This worked with everyone except Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and the three Lin Kieu. If there was a "real" way to beat him, I'd like to know.

As for hard bosses, how about Mike Tyson from Punch-out for the NES? I never even got to him without using The Code, and when I did he beat me to a creamy jelly in about 10 seconds. Maybe they should remake the game now where he's really old and can't go very long, and randomly bites you to get disqualified. ^_^
Things I think Are Funny Early in the Morning: If Batman were a Smurf: "Quick, Robin! We must smurf down to the Batcave and smurf the Batplane! Then we must smurf the batsmurf so we can smurf where the Joker is smurfing!"

The Croonerism Spate (explanations upon request)
Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."
