Lunar series
Lunar games rock. Lunar games are RPGs. Their are a few special things that make the Lunar series very special.
The first thing is, the Lunar games have been remade many times. Their are two Lunar games, but each one has been remade many times into many versions, so the remade ones are like alternate reality versions of the first ones. Let me explain. Lunar : Silver Star-Original, then came Lunar: Eternal Blue- Original. Then Lunar: The Silver Star was remade with lots of changes, different plot twists, character additions, towns, graphics and more. So it's basically the same game, but in an alternate univserse, where it has the same characters and plot, but a lot about the plot has changed, different chaarcters were added in, storylines were changed, towns were chanegd and more. They called it Lunar: Silver Star Story. Then they remade Lunar: Eternal Blue. They basically made those changes as well on it. Then they ported the remade version of Lunar: Silver Star Story, made more changes to the already changed story and called it Lunar: Sivler Star Story complete. Then, they did the same thing with Lunar: Eternal Blue, remaking it a third time and calling it Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete. Then, they remade Lunar: The Silver Star again,a fourth version of the same game. They took Lunar: Silver Star Story Compelte, amde even more changes to the story, graphics, characters, villians, love story, towns and more. They then called this Lunar: Legend. So there's basically two Lunar games that were remade about four times to have alternate realities of different games.
The next thing is the fact that, while their are three to four versions of each Lunar game, four versions of Lunar 1: Lunar: The Silver Star, Lunar: Silver Star Story, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar Legend. Three versions of Lunar 2: Lunar: Eternal Blue, Lunar: Eternal Blue (Same name but with a LOT of changes) and Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete. They also made an extra Lunar game but that's irrelevant. Anyway, these two Lunar games which were remade about four times each are direct sequels to the preseder- except one thousand years later. It shows how the same world has changed in a thousand years. These characters are the descendants of the previous heroes and lovers. The average heroes you controlled in the first game are now legends talked about a thousand years later. People admire the heroes and their lovers you controlled. All that hard work you put in during the first Lunar game has been paid off as everyone a thousand years later admires the stories of the heroes a thousand years ago. Now, as your new group of heroes and their lovers meet, we find out what happened after the first Lunar game ended. So you slowly find out about what happened to everyone from the first game. You find out abotu their descendants and their loves. Of course, in each version of each Lunar, different things happened.
Another wonderful thing about Lunar are the love stories. Love is the most important thing in the world. Love stories are my favorite kind of stories. I'm a romantic. The love stories in Lunar are so beautiful and sweet. They are well developed and all the members in your party have wonderful love stories. The love stories are so touching, heartfelt and full of emotion. The love stories have different twists and turns in each version of Lunar, and the fates of the characters as well of the intensity of the relationships change with each updated version of Lunar.
Another cool thing is the storyline. The storylines in the Lunar series are very well done. Plus, the alternate reality, updated version thing si really cool. It's so cool how the Lunar games are emade so many times, so you have the great storylines- but with extra plot twists, charcaters, love stories, villians and, towns and more. The storylines are so well done, touching, romantic, exciting, enchanting and full of plot twists and surprises. Even when you replay the same Lunar game, but one of the remade version, their are still tons of surprises.
Another special thing is the characters. The characters in Lunar have personalities just like people you know. Their is not oen character in the Lunar games you haven't felt like you met in real life. The character's personalities are so realistic, they resemble the characteristics of everyday people. The characters have lovable and realistic personalities. The relationships between the characters is very well done and developed. The love stories and the rivalries and the love triangles with the main characters and villians is very well done and developed. These are some vharacters you will never forget.
Another great thing is the dialouge. The dialouge in Lunar games, especially the remade ones, is unlike dialouge you've seen in any video game. First of all, it's uncensored. When I say uncensored, I don't mean just a few damns and hells. I also don't mean that it's very vulgar. I mean it's like the dialouge you hear everyday. While older video games are very censored in dialouge, newer games are very uncensored, with a nice amount of cursing and mature themes. But even the newer uncensored ones aren't that uncensored. In fact, while cursing is allowed, before Lunar games, I started giggling when the word puberty was mentioned in a game. When the word sexual promiscuity was mentioned, I was all "Wow! They said sex in a game! Ha ha ha!" Well, the Lunar games will take you on a wild ride. The dialouge is extremely realistic. It's like dialouge you'd hear everyday. Clever, realistic dialouge no other game would think og having. At first, I was shocked and surprised each time I'd catch it. Sometimes I wasn't sure if I read right. It takes you in slowly, step by step, more suggestive very slowly, so you won't be as shocked as it gets more suggestive. I clearly remember how shocked I was the first few times, but by the time I got used to it, I wasn't as shocked, I was just loving it. I love how the Lunar games have such realistic dialouge. I love the suggestive themes. Instead of having a few suggestive themes, they let the characters talk like real people with lots of themes that are very suggestive and funny and realistic. It's great. I'm not going to spoil it, but the jokes are hilarious. It's like real life. The condom joke made me laugh so hard. Not just because it was funny- but because these video games characters were like the people I see everyday in real life. Also, even better, their are tons of references to pop culture. i love the pop culture references. Their are so many references to real life singers, actors, video games, characters in other video games, love stories in other video games, candies, anime, manga, commercials, political figures, cereal brands, medications- you name it. It's so cool.
Another cool thing is a continuation of thbe dialouge section. The pop references. They are great. Along with excellent suggestive themes that add realism, the pop culture references adds lots of realism and fun to the game. Their are people singing L.F.O songs, references to characters from Final Fantasy games and Zelda games. References to music groups. References to commercials. There's a big joke reference to the commercial where the owl asks hwo many licks does it take to get to the bottom of a tootsie pop. There's references to medications like ritalin. There's lots of jokes about Abba and Courtney Love. It makes the game more life-like.
Another fantastic thingis the packing. While most video games are packaged very cool, the Lunar games have packages in packages. The updated and remade versions have the coolest packages. The original games had cool packages, but they weren't as cool as the remade ones. The remade ones have huge, awesome things in them. They have this huge cover box it's in. The cove rbox has beautiful artwork on it and is in great condition. You open it up. There's the main case with the game and discs. There's the soundtrack- the whole thing with the game. There's stick figures of the characters. There's objects from the game made so you can wear them, like pendants form the game made into lifelike prendants to wear. There's an artbook. There's a huge game manual that is abotu eight hundred times the size of that regular game manuals. No, it's not a strategy guide- it's just the manual. It has detailson the characters, funny inside jokes about the game, riffs and MSTs about the game. Interviews with the creators of the characters, scripts, music, artwork and more. The guides are beautifully made. They have bookmarks too. Plus it comes with a "The Making Of" disc, so after you beat the game you get to see how the voice actors and creators recorded and made the game. You also get a bunch of other cool toys with the games. The packaging is, simply to say, brilliant. It's the greatest packaging of a game ever. There's a lot more too.
More great things, the bloopers. You get to watch bloopers after the game. Although they can be a little long though.
The world. Their are a whole lotta towns in th world of Lunar and in the sequel you'll see how the towns have changed.
There's the making of disc of course.
Another great thing- the music. The music is great. I love the songs.
The scenes are also drawn very well.
Another thing, the realism. The characters are so reaslitc. While it's a fantasy story, the characters and everything is so realistic, it's jsut great. It makes the characters seem like real people, and they also act like people you know.
Also, a lot of things in Lunar 1's plot are extremely similar to the first season of BSSM. Extremely similar.
Anyway, that is why Lunar games rock.
The lunar games are fantastic, especially the updated ones, I love how they remade each verison of Lunar so many times, so you can play the wonderful games again and again with extra twists and stuff. Hwoever, they are very underrated. Hardly anyone has heard of them. Hardly anyone knows about them. They are also very rare. However, the people who do know about them, know that they are great.
Lunar games are gems that are very underrated.
If this essay hasn't convicned you to at least try to find otu more about them, find out more about them anyway.

Sailor Moon, while we appreciate the fact that you love these games, do you HONESTLY expect anyone to read through that entire essay? Describing all the qualities about these games the way you did hardly leaves much room for discussion, except in the case where one would disagree with your opinions.

Not to be rude, but could someone give a much smaller description of this game? The name sounds interesting though.

LMAO @ Tiff.
I've always enjoyed the Lunar games. I never played the old ones, but the remade ones on the playstation (Silver Star Story Complete and Eternal Blue). I enjoyed them. They're not GREAT eyepopping life changing games (like Xenogears IMO), but they're very charming.
They're very simple, in graphics, gameplay, and story, but they're both very charming tales. They're in my top 15 favorite games. In fact, reading this post makes me want to play through them again. The only thing I don't like about Lunar is that guy in O-town does the voice for Alex *shudder*. This was before he was in O-town obviously........but still.........

While I only enjoyed Lunar: Eternal Blue about as much as I enjoyed Final Fantasy VIII (immensely) I'd say that Silver Star Story Complete is my favorite game - tied with Final Fantasy VII. I think that Bob hit the nail on the head when he talked about the charm of the games. As he said, they weren't life-altering, but they were certianly able to draw you into the world and into the lives of the characters, and to let you feel an emotional connection with them. And you can't ask for a while lot more from a game than that.
Stop squirming, you're making the procedure more difficult.

I, too, enjoyed these games immensely. The Final Fantasy series is still my favorite, but the charm of these games for me is the beautiful character interactions that get woven so seemlessly throughout the incredible plot. Both Silver Star Story Complete and Eternal Blue demonstrated character interaction and team play that has only really been matched by FFX.
I also love the music from both games, both the BGMs and the character songs. There's a very Renaissance-like feel to them, almost harkening one back to the Middle Ages with their simplicity, beauty, and mimicry of classical instruments. The battle music is some of the best in the business, and I absolutely adore the final boss battle tracks.

I bought one of the Lunar games for the Playstation, and I must say... I hated it. There was nothing about Lunar that I particularly enjoyed. I like RPGs, but Lunar was just so... annoying. The annoying girl who kept singing in that glass-shattering pitch, the irritating flying cat, the sheer predictability of the game based solely on reading the book, I just didn't like anything about it.
"I loved you. I was a pentapod monster, but I love you. I was despicable and brutal and turpid, mais je t'aimais, je t'aimais. And there were times when I knew how you felt, and it was hell to know it. My Lolita girl, brave Dolly Schuller."

Yeah, I've heard two of the songs dubbed, "Luna's boat song", and the opening song, "Wings", and they're both so horrid. The original singer is far better, IMO.ParaKiss_Groupie wrote:The annoying girl who kept singing in that glass-shattering pitch

*sees the first post*
*blinks*
I'm sorry... I can't read all of that.
Um I only have Lunar 2 Eternal Blue complete. Overall I didn't like it. heh I should've mentioned it in that which games do you regret buying topic. I didn't like any of the characters except for Jean (she kinda looks like Setsuna BTW
) and Leo. The battle system was one of the most boring ever. The story wasn't anything special. The anime cutscences and both endings were good though. And so was the AST CD that came with the game.
I got L2 because I ehard you didn't need to know much about the first game, and it received so much praise I don't plan on playing the first one unless I find it for a very cheap price. And I doubt that's gonna happen.

That's interesting, since the battle system was one of the things I like the most about the Lunar games. It lends a wee bit of strategy to setting up your battle formation, unlike the rather simplistic front/back rank setup of FFV - FFIX (I haven't played FFX or X2 yet, so I have no idea if they still use ATB and that setup).
Stop squirming, you're making the procedure more difficult.

Aww man i used to hate Lunar because I thought they were copying The Final Fantasy Series. But when I played Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2 : Eternal Blue I realize how different the 2 games are. The one thing I hate about Lunar is when as you level up the boss gets stronger and you have no way to beat it and another thing I forgot to put is when the monster attack unlike Final Fantasy they surpise you. Overall Final Fantasy is better with the stories and the music!
I don't think that happens in Lunar 2, or at least not in the Playstation version (which is the one I have)...mizangelamy wrote:The one thing I hate about Lunar is when as you level up the boss gets stronger and you have no way to beat it
And the thing I hated most about Lunar is the monsters. Having monsters you can see and thus avoid is a good feature, but the Lunar monsters move much, much faster than you and thus attack you anyway. And running away fails often so you can get killed by monsters fairly easily.
But the game did come with some awesome stuff, though. I love that Lucia pendant and the soundtrack.

My posts are way too long and repetetive. Maybe I should just edit it to a breif description of the game itself, instead of the packaging and all of the perks of the game. I liked the "You covered everything" comment.
That made me smile. It's true though. Anyway, back on topic, I thought Luna was cool in Lunar 1. Same with Alex. Hiro in Lunar 2 was awesome. He had the perfect personality. Lucia rocked. Oh, Mia rocked as well. Nash also was cool. All the characters are cool. They all rock. I really think all of the characters are well developed.
