Doujinshi

Post by Akarui Kibuno » Wed Jun 16, 2004 4:20 pm

Well, you might find my question odd, but...

Here's my problem. If I understand well, doujinshi are "fanmade manga", right ? My problem is that I've always found hentai doujinshi, no matter where I looked.

So, I was wondering if you knew of non-hentai, anime doujinshi or even original stories that would be in this form.

I'm saying this only because, of all the hentai doujinshi I've seen, the drawings were *unfortunately, lol* excellent, and I wanted to see some of this style, but... in a non-sexual way :P

Well, if you want to see non-hentai doujinshi you can go to

http://www.kinmoku.net/pops/gallery/doujinshi/

For non-hentai Sailor Starlights doujinshi. (Some of that is hentai, but they don't scan any of the hentai parts.)

If you actually want to BUY,

http://www.jpqueen.com

should have SOMETHING. They also clearly mark which doujinshi are hentai and which aren't.

There's a fan-manga about the Starlights that I've always wanted to find the webpage for. I think I had found it a long time ago, and then couldn't find it again. I don't remember its name, but here were the things that I remember about it:
1) There were SD Senshi on the covers, I think.
2) Taiki was drawn with a SUPER-huge, long forehead. Of course, that's the reason I'd want to see it. And I think either the author's name or a character's name was "Snot-Cat" because that was mentioned on the webpage.

i have to agree with what akarui is saying about there being many more hentai doujinshi than manga versions. Sometimes even if you use some type of search engine i.e. google or lycos and you looked up doujinshi there would be sometimes at least 1 link which is related to hentai version of doujinshi which is very annoying

Akarui, are you looking for regular doujinshi to BUY, or to just read online?

If you're just looking for doujin to read, you're not going to find much outside of hentai. Most people don't post their doujin (unless it's hentai) for just regular viewing. They generally auction it or sell it.

You might also try eBay if you're looking to purchase doujinshi. A lot of what's sold on eBay is hentai, but there's a bigger selection there than I've seen anywhere else, so chances are good that you'd be able to find non-hentai doujinshi.

Well, to tell you the truth, I wanted to read some before I could even consider buying it. That's just because I saw just hentai, so I've been thinking, if there's good non-hentai doujinshi (even only a page or two as a preview) I could consider buying some.

;)

How come the fan-manga is more infamous for being hentai than the fanfiction? I'm just wondering why; is it because it's more visual and that people would prefer drawing the characters having sex rather than writing about it?

I'm going to put this bluntly.

If you want to masturbate, would you rather be stimulated by visuals or words?

MOST people are turned on by visuals rather than erotic words. Therefore, they're more popular.

It's not surprising really that lots of doujinshi is visually shown for many reasons:

1.Users searching for doujinshi would rather look for illustrated pictures since it's easier to skip through.
2.Some users maybe too lazy to even read the words
3.You can see wot is actually happening more clearly

I would choose to read doujinshi visually not because of laziness, but for the fact that it saves time looking through the comics and that it's easier to work out what the plot is all about.

Tiff, if you're asking me directly, I'd prefer writing since I'm not a very visually observant/stimulated person. I'm more of an abstract thinker. But if you're talking about the general populace, then I can see your point. (pun intended on the word "see")

A little O/T here: I'm not only writing "Emerald Sunrise" as a fanfic, I'm also trying to make a dojinshi of it. My friends at my church said I have talent in drawing as well as writing. (They want me to get my stuff published ASAP)
"Oh yeah. Someone is definitely tired of breathing." ("The Main Man", Part 1)

I'm writing this Sailor Moon/Green Lantern crossover AU fic called "Emerald Sunrise". It's a hybrid of Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Comedy. It's about Ami (Sailor Mercury) getting a new boyfriend who just happens to be a member of The Green Lantern Corps. I'm also throwing in some other characters from other animes and some old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the late '60's early '70's. I'm also illustrating it as well. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

Parallax: While I'm glad you have the support of your congregation for your work, promoting one's work in a post is against the rules. However, you are more than welcome to discuss it in your signature (and for the record, I would be quite interested in checking it out if it does come out in doujinshi form :)

Thank you Starscream. :) I'll update the illustrations and complete the fic as soon as I get a scanner, a color printer, and my own computer. I have to log on at a public library, unfortunately.
