Even though it is fairly new - the first episode dropped last week, and another one aired yesterday - this series has already become one of my favorites. From the geniuses behind Cowboy Bebop, the story focuses on three characters in medieval (samurai) Japan, set to the tune of a smooth, envigorating hip-hop soundtrack. The first episode left a bit to be desired in terms of character and background, but nonetheless flourished with a pretty interesting story about how humorous coincidences brought the three main characters together. The lack of backstory, however, served a good purpose; like with Bebop, it hooks the viewers into wanting to watch more to learn more about the characters. There's plenty of violence, however, so those of you squeemish about Ruroni Kenshin or Bebop-level violence might want to steer clear. Otherwise, this is a great series that shows a lot of promise, and it comes highly recommended.
Oh yeah, and if you've seen the first episode, feel free to reply with your own comments, too ^^:;

Well, since I absolutely adored Cowboy Bebop, I knew that this'd be good right fromt he start. It IS the only anime Shinchiro Watanabe has done since Cowboy Bebop, you know.
I love how fluid the animation is. The music is..well, it isn't Yoko Kanno, but it's still quite good. The voice acting is superb (Mugen~ *swoons*) and I love the storylines.
It's really quite good.

I've seen the first season (or, the first 17 eps) fansubbed, and I *love* this show. The animation is really pretty, the music is awesome (love that opening song!), and Fuu and Mugen are *hilarious.* I don't particularly LIKE the dub, because when I saw the fansubs, I turned to my best friend and said, "You know what? If this ever gets dubbed, Mugen's gonna have Spike's voice." And it was so. That guy gets *all* the main roles, and it's not that I don't like the voice, it's just...I need more variety than that! Especially since the two shows are so similar already (Mugen=Spike in medieval clothes, yah?). It's annoying. But I'm buyin' the DVDs for the subtitles. So I feel bad for Adult Swim, because I *really like* this show, but I don't watch it, and they always whine about the anime ratings. It's like "well, I'd help, but I already know what's gonna happen, and I don't like that guy's voice...so... LETSWATCHFUTURAMAYAY!"
For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals. Then, something happened which unleashed the powers of our imagination: we learned to talk- Stephen Hawking
I watched the first two or three episodes of it on DVD, my friend likes to lend out their anime/manga stuff all the time. I really like the music.. how up beat it is and all that. I just never remember when it's on .. so I haven't watched it since I did on the DVDs. I'm in a dojo.. so I watch how accurate their stuff is.. hahaha.. not.. really.. >_>
