Onegai Teacher (Please Teacher)

Post by whitewolf05 » Tue May 11, 2004 1:37 pm

When I first read it I must confess it was not what I was expecting.
Boy meets teacher. Teacher meets boy. Boy marries Alien. This defenitly describes it. Bad thing is it is only a two-part manga because it gets really interesting. It also turns out that the teacher is only half alien. This is a story of secrets, trust, and true love. Now I'm not one for romance novels but this one is pretty good. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it an 8 for good story line and pictures. A definete must read. :D

I've read the first volume of the manga, and seen the first five or so episodes of the anime...It's good, but it lacks a little something I find, and some of the characters I just don't identify with. It's a nice story, defintely unique, but it's not one of my favourites.
Mr. James : Lost a satellite on liftoff today.
Dave : Cost?
Mr. James : 10 million dollars.
Dave : Result?
Mr. James : Extreme set back.
Dave : Milk?
Mr. James : Spilled.
Dave : Gonna cry about it?
Mr. James : Not even.
Dave : I''m sitting on a rather sharp tack.
Mr. James : That's gotta hurt.
Dave : Well, life's a bitch...
Mr. James : ...And then you die.
Dave : My...
Mr. James : ...oh...
Dave : ...my.

I haven't seen the manga, but I have seen all the anime and the OAV, and I really got into it. It really shows the difference between a real romantic comedy and the crap that gets the name. Kei is never so flustered when around Mizuho that he acts like an ass and makes you too embarrased to like him, and Mizuho has enough naivete being an alien that you feel she's getting something out of the relationship as well. In most romantic comedies, it's a loser guy going after an almost perfect woman. And the subplot romance with Koishi really added suspense. No American show would have allowed a student to wind up with his teacher, so I wasn't sure whether this show would. All in all, it's a great show with some beautiful animation, very vibrant colors, and wonderful music.

I haven''t really read much of the manga, but I liked the anime and OAV a lot, especially the animation and art.

It helped that one of my favorite seiyuu, Inoue Kikuko, was the female lead ^_^

I've never read the manga, but I *adore* the Onegai Teacher series. It's in the top 3 of my favorite Anime. I didn't care for the OVA. I felt it was pretty pointless, but the TV 1-12 was great. I loved all the characters involved with the exception of Mategu Shido, which I felt had little notible personality. Dispite that, I absolutely love the series.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

*dusts off old topic*

I just watched this series yesterday (Yes, the entire series, I had nothing better to do =P), and I absolutely adored it. Such a great story, and could be quite emotional at times.

As someone told me lately, everyone deserves the chance to fly
And if Im flying solo, at least Im flying free
To those whod ground me
Take a message back from me
