Wow. Inuyasha is in an adult segment? I've seen that show on at like 3:30 in the afternoon here, and my digital cable even had it categorized as a kids' show o_O

Also, I've noticed that movies seem to be rated differently in Canada too. Alot of movies that are rated R in America, like Scary Movie 3, are only rated 14a here.

Well, what I think is that the only reason most movies in America are rated R are because of drug use and too many cuss words.

America's censorship laws are majorly screwed up. :(

I'm writing this Sailor Moon/Green Lantern crossover AU fic called "Emerald Sunrise". It's a hybrid of Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Comedy. It's about Ami (Sailor Mercury) getting a new boyfriend who just happens to be a member of The Green Lantern Corps. I'm also throwing in some other characters from other animes and some old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the late '60's early '70's. I'm also illustrating it as well. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

You think that's bad? Don't even get me started on movie ratings. North Carolina has the worst laws ever! With R-rated movies, you have to be 17 to see them, right? Well, not here! You have to be 18! It's soo stupid! And they don't even change it on the movie posters! So, I didn't know until I tried to see Kill Bill. I hate this place soo much!

I thought you had to be 17 to get in without an adult. It's NC-17 you have to be 17 to see. (Does anybody know what NC stands for?) Maybe that's just in Maryland.

I've snuck into an R movie. It's so easy to do at my theatre.

*CRACKS UP* I'm sorry, that just struck me as hilarious.
but the cartman line was in the movie. it doesnt count really. bastard, IMO, isnt that much of a cuss word. its the wussy of bitch.
Actually, Bastard is originally meant to insult somebody who is born out of wedlock, and it's considered to meant irregular or inferior (ie: a bastard child). It's mostly directed to guys nowadays..I don't think I've ever heard anybody seriously call a woman a bastard. Generally, Bitch is geared toward women (as it is a female dog), and bastard toward men.

The Cartman line "Kyle's mom's a bitch..." is in the episode where Mr. Hanky first appears. I remember it well, because in one part of his "song", it sounds like he's calling her a "kamehameha bi-atch". It might have been a simple case of DBZ on the brains, but still...

"She's a super King Kamehameha bitch!" is what he says. I think its more the hawaiian king, rather than DBZ. It'd be cool if it was DBZ, though.

That's what I meant. I can't get into an R-rated movie without my parents, even though I'm 17. North Carolina is really f*cked up!

Actually it wasn't South Park that originally broke it, there was another show before that (I think it was Chicago Hope) where they said shit unbleeped and it caused a controversy. South Park was parodying that. I think it's happened a few more times since then, but it's not that common. A few weeks ago on Everwood there was an episode where Delia says shit and I heard they were supposed to actually use it, but WB must've chickened out cause they ended up blanking it.

What I really don't understand about taboos against certain words is that many of them are actually real words that have a meaning besides for being swear words, but it's only taboo to say them as swear words. A bastard is a child born out of wedlock, a bitch is a female dog and an ass is a donkey. But if you use bastard as an insult for a man, bitch as an insult for a woman and ass as slang for ones posterior region, now they become swear words.

when I use ass, I actually generally use it to mean Donkey, but in a foolish way. Like...I call someone an ass when they're being idiotic.

They just silenced it so we didn't hear what she said. I'm pretty sure that it was supposed to be shit though.

Oh no, she said something...we just didn't get to hear what it was. Like when they show movies on TV and instead of bleeping the swearing or replacing it with something else they just silence the word. The context indicated that it was probably shit. Am I making any sense?

I hated that episode of Everwood! They made this huge deal about her saying a bad word, and they censored it! It was soo stupid! I didn't even know if they censored it at first. When she's eating, she kinda mumbles "this tastes like ----" and everyone else says "what?" So I thought maybe I just hadn't heard it. So she gets louder, and says "I said it tastes like ----" It made me so mad! Stupid WB people!

OKAY, thank you, that cleared it up for me. I saw the previews and was wondering "OMG, WHAT DOES SHE SAY?!" but never saw the show. But now I see.
Dear gods, that's stupid. Why didn't they just cancel the whole episode if they were going to take the controversial, antognistic situation out of it? How idiotic.
