Anime/manga with sucky endings

Post by Dinozore » Fri Apr 16, 2004 6:32 pm

We all know the anime world is rife with bad/rushed/unresolved endings, so which endings do you think were bad?

I say Big O. It stopped making sense about episode 24, and the last two episodes just confused me terribly.
Then that negative of Big O showed up and turned everything into a blank grid and then the whole city was restored somehow?
-_- I was like "what the hell?" when I saw it.
"Tell my tale to those who ask... tell it truthfully, the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest... is silence..." last words of Dinobot, "Code of Hero"
"Is that a poisonous elephant in your pocket or are you happy to see me?" ~another forum
"Monster! I''''m going to collide with you indefinitely as my limbs flail wildly about!" ~NPC, Dragon Warrior VII
"I bet you were thinking how hot it would be to see Tsunade with her gates wide open, inviting you..." ~DuneMan
"To use gaming terms, Tyrannosaurus Rex was a camper--- and he pwned his prey!" ~BaronVonAwesome
"I prefer to beat my opponents the old-fashioned way: brutally!" ~Dinobot
It was a loop, after Big O and Big Venus joined in everything went back to episode 1. But this time things were different. We see Dorothy and Angel, so that means that Dorothy wasn't kidnapped
As for sucky ending..

Digimon 02....it's that awful epiloge....just awful......

Hrm..

Weiss Kruez.
It's like this big battle, and they all "die". The end. Then..they show this scene that pretty much shows they're still alive. And then Gluhen came out -___-; It was just so incredibly anti-climatic and stupid. It got so dry by the end of the series that I just wasn't interested.
The ending to Princess Mononoke wasn't bad PER SE, but:
I really wanted Eboshi to die -__-; I just hated how the people who deserve to be killed (in my book) didn't get killed.
so that kind of ruined it a bit for me.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

"In learning you will teach and in teaching you will learn"
-Son of Man, Tarzan

"Why do we have to resort to nonviolence? Can’t we just kick their asses?"
-Leela, Futurama

i'd say boogiepop phantom because
it seemed after a purpetually dark series, the ending was so shiny and happy.
that and the fact that i didn't know what the hell was going on.

Wish had a HORRIBLE ending. Well, at least had a really stupid thing happen near the end of the series:
The main character, Shuichiro, dies while tying his shoe. And then Kohaku, an angel or something that liked Shuichiro, then went to sleep for a hundred years, just to hang out with some 17 year-old boy afterwards.
It was just plain moronic.

Also, don't forgt Creamy Mami, which ends with the heroine of the series
getting hit by a garbage truck.
I have to agree that I felt the ending to Wish wasn't all that it could be. I mean, you get to know the main characters and then you have to get used to one of them being replaced. I just couldn't get the same feeling for him that I did the first guy.

The Utena manga's ending was what made me irritated.
The world never gets revolutionized yet and Utena is missing. Anthy goes off to find her. The End.
I was expecting a little more than that, but it just stops right there. I was very heartbroken.

Finally, I felt the ending to the anime version of sailor moon was a little disappointing. It was beautiful in it's own right, but I was hoping it would be like in the manga.
Usagi and Mamoru's wedding day
Actually that's how I feel about the ending of CCS and MKR too. The ending in the manga was just more heartfelt and emotional. Definately a sense of closure.

I felt that CLAMP just got tired of working on Wish. I mean, they kept setting this stuff up. "There's something weird about Shuichirou." "But, Shuichirou is...." "There's something you don't know about him...." They made him out to be something not-human, and then we get that ending. Though, I did think it really sweet what God did for Kohaku. Have you read the rest of it? Cause it sounds like you're not that familiar with the characters. "And then Kohaku, an angel or something that liked Shuichirou..." It seems like you either don't know the story well, or it's been so long and you can't remember. I'm not trying to sound rude, though I'm sure I'm doing a good job of it. I'm just curious.

Actually, I've read all four volumes, and they're even in my house. I just didn't want to have to give a long, boring explanation about the manga for those who haven't read it..

Okay, I see. That makes sense.

Although I definitely didn't care much for Evangelion as a whole, I think too many people complain about its last two episodes alone. I mean, they weren't the ONLY episodes that had stock footage galore and psychobabble overdose.

I think it's because it was the last two episodes. I was expecting some kind of ending. Instead I got an acid trip. Plus, the rest of the psycho-babble episodes at least made sense. These ones didn't. It just happened. And then the alternate reality pops up, and it's just.... *rubs head* Shoot-yourself-in-the-head-it's-the-only-way-make-sense-of-it-all fucked up.
