Midori no Hibi

Post by Umino » Thu Apr 15, 2004 6:30 pm

Does anyone else like this manga? I saw a preview for the anime in Newtype and ask Sakuya about it. He gave me a link for the scanlations. I've read up to chapter 38 (Volume 4) and its so funny! Its about 17 yr. old Seiji who can't get a girlfriend since all of the girls are afraid of him. (He fights alot) Then one night his right hand turns into a girl! The girl turns out to be Midori, a young girl who has had a crush on Seiji for some time.

Its pretty funny, how Seiji has to adapt with having a girl for his right hand. During one chapter we see how Seiji has to find some way to use the restroom. His tells Midori not to look, while he tries with the 'other hand'. And whenever he has go in public, he wraps her up in a scarf. He also wears a towel whenever he has to bath now, although in one chapter his towel falls off.

"Thats one side of you I never wanted to Seiji-Kun!!!"

Its recently been made into an anime, and just started a couple of weeks ago.It hasn't been lincensed in America yet (I've downloaded it) and I hope someone lincenses it soon. Since the site who fantranslated it is going to get shut down soon.

I've read the manga (probably from the same place you got it) and loved it. It's so cute and funny...

I love MnH!

Haven't seen a single episode yet (codec problems), but I've read up to vol. 4 via scanlation. I'll take a look at the DVD if it comes out down here though.

The cover for volume 6 looks kind of blah compared to the previous ones. :? Maybe it is the use of a gray crosswalk with an
aqua green title? :? I hope the anime will be either 13 or 26 episodes because if I'm running out of DVD-Rs. :x

No way the anime's going to be 26 eps. I mean, the manga has quite a few characters. I think it's going to be a LONG time before this show ends.

I hope someone licenses both anime and manga soon, especially the anime (I want to see it badly, but Macs suck for downloading avi files. Assuming you can find a way to get them, most of them don't work...)

Well, I noticed that the anime combines 2 stories from the manga at times. It's weird, so far I know it combines 1 story from the beginning of the manga and the second story comes from much later in the manga. It's happened with Ayase Takako and Takamizawa.

The Midori no Hibi anime will only get 13 episodes. I just watched episode 12 and in the preview it says the next episode will be the "Last Days." It's a bit surprising. I'm guessing it will be like Ah! My Goddess where the anime is short but the manga is still ongoing. Oh well, can't wait for next week!

If anybody likes short, fun series then I would recommend this one.

¬.¬ When are anime companies going to learn that ending the anime before the manga ends is a BAD idea?

I wonder how they'll pull it off...

I wonder why it's so short, or shorter than the manga. I mean, 13 episodes? That's really short. Maybe the budget is low or something. (Like with Big O season 1)

Actually, I don't think Ah! My Goddess is a likely comparison anymore because they're making the new TV series. I guess they did not make enough money from it? It doesn't seem like a lot of merchandise are created for it except for the DVDs, manga, CDs, and the special Midori puppet (is that even for sale?).

After the end of the initial broadcast in Japan last week, this anime is now licensed by Media Blasters (announced at Anime Expo 2004).

I just recently got into this series. So far I think it is really good. I can't wait until Media Blasters releases the Anime. Now if someone would just license the manga.

The manga has been licensed by VIZ. Volume 01 comes out 5/15/05 and Volume 02 comes out 7/15/05. I can't wait I'll definately be buying this and the anime when it comes out. The anime starts coming out 3/29/05. It will also come with a box to hold the rest of the series.

...ugh..

Why did it have to be Viz? I can't stand their releases. They better not put those gaudy english SFX in (like all the Shonen Jump titiles), and they sure as hell better not edit it.

As for the anime news, that's awesome. I only got to see about, 10 mins. of the anime at a con, so I'll be happy to finally watch it.
