Sakuya wrote:I finished the series! It wasn't as good as the OVA action-wise. After watching the OVA, I think most people would be looking for action. So it's a big disappointment there. Now I must wait for the US DVD release because they have the 5.1 surround sound. I wish Blockbuster would pick it up so I can get it more cheap. :?
Actually ROD the TV volumes one through four are available now ;)

I'm actually still enjoying the series even though there's less action in it. It's more about character I think, and I like how it focuses more on Nenene and the Paper Sisters. I never knew much about those characters until I started watching the series. That's a given though, since none of them appear in the OVA, except for Nenene, but even then, she only appears in the OVA as a written note.

It's funny when I think back to ROD OVA's fansub days. Many fansubbers subbed "Nenene" on the notes to "Hey! Hey! Hey!" or something to that extent. How did the official DVD sub it?

I actually own the official DVD, but I can't remember offhand. I'm pretty sure that they subbed it as her name, "Nenene", and not "hey hey hey!" I'll rewatch the OVA tonight and I'll get back to you.

Do you have a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound setup? If so, do you think you can also help me check if the background music in the very beginning of episode 1 is soft? The area where:
Electricity is destroying the White House and you can hear music. Is the music too soft to hear above the explosions and sound effects? That is the case with my DVD-rip. :(
Sorry, I don't have a surround sound setup ;_; Everything seems normal though. I don't think there are any problems with these DVDs. But I don't have a surround sound setup, so I can't say for sure.

Edit a few hours later:

I just rewatched that segment and it turns out that the official DVD subs it that way too. It said things like "Hang this up! Up! Up! Up!" and "Lock this up! Up! Up Up!"

I have seen episodes 1-12 now. Ha! I'm very proud of myself.
Anyways:
I like the series, but not as much as the OVA. I found that the OVA had better action, better plotline, better everything. I find the series to be lacking in all of these. I don't know...It just seems a lot duller. I'm not sure what I think of Joker being evil-ish. I guess it's ok.
I love Anita's obsession with frogs. She and I would get along quite well.
Mr. James : Extreme set back.

Mr. James : Spilled.
Dave : Gonna cry about it?
Mr. James : Not even.
Dave : I''m sitting on a rather sharp tack.
Mr. James : That's gotta hurt.
Dave : Well, life's a bitch...
Mr. James : ...And then you die.
Dave : My...
Mr. James : ...oh...
Dave : ...my.

I've lost track of the storyline, it's just so confusing and complex. Good thing they explain their motives in the end otherwise I would not understand. ROD is better suited to be in short packages. This drags on for so long with too much character development. No wonder why the manga is not as popular. :? I've read scanlations of the manga somewhere (forgot where) and it seemed boring because there's no moving action and besides action, there's only plot and character which is also boring.

I believe the series is 26 episodes long. Geneon plans on releasing it on 7 discs. That's an uneven number. If my math is correct, we will end up with only 2 episodes on the last disc. Unless they pull an episode from disc 6 to give the last disc more to offer. But, we'd still end up with only three episodes on discs 6 and 7. I hope they release a lot of extras (something more than the previous discs) to make up for it.

I've got DVDs 1-4. True, there's not as much action but I like how we learn about each of the characters. I completely understand Michelle and Maggie. I could practially live in Barnes and Noble.

Being a lover of books (and at the moment working at a library), this sounds like an interesting show. Hobbes, I to could practically live at Barnes and Noble.
Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you''ve got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.

If you haven't already, you should check out the OVA then.
You seem like the kind of person who'll lie.

I Fist saw the movie and completely fell in love with it. So then i just had to watch the show i think its so cool i love it. They give it on G4 but they give it late at night and with my hectic life i rarely ever have time to watch. I am going to save up just to buy the DVDs. my favorite character has to be Anita because she reminds me of my self. A little fireball. :D

Yeah, I saw the OVA. I saw Yomiko's house and I was like "Whoah, even I son't have that many books."
