Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne
What are you thoughts on this manga/anime? I adore the manga, but I couldn't get into the anime. Either way, I LOVED the art and main heroine.

I never read the manga or saw the show, but after hearing about all the good things from other people, I'm considering getting into it.
How are the anime and manga different (though I, personally, want the manga over the anime)?

The Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne anime has much more filler in it, and an entirely new villian halfway through the series. Whereas the plot picks up in around chapter 3 of the manga, it takes as long as 10 episodes in the anime. Also, stuff that happens in the manga, such as
Maron and Chiaki finding out each others' secret identities as Kaitou Jeanne and Kaitou Sinbad, which happens fairly early on in the manga
, takes, literally, the last two episodes of the anime to be resolved. Oh, and the ending is entirely different. Also, much like the case of Sailor Moon, Maron and Chiaki are a much better couple in the manga than in the anime..in the anime, they're complete jerks to one another at times, not to mention it takes untilnear the end of the series for them to finally get together.DistantMemory wrote:I never read the manga or saw the show, but after hearing about all the good things from other people, I'm considering getting into it.

That's why I recommend the manga moreso than the anime. Much more so. ^_^

Do either of you (or anyone else) know where I can find scanlations of the manga? I don't feel like spending money on the Japanese books, and I don't think it's been licensed... not yet, anyway. ^^;

Well, knowing them, they'll probably succeed. In the meantime, I'll wait and see for the official release.

I might be, but I'm not very sure. I only saw a few episods of the tv series, but I have read episode summaries online, which may or may not be on the dot ^^;Sailor Moon wrote:NDM, are you sure you're not only talking about the first season.
Really?! That would be so great! ^_^Sailor Moon wrote:Someone e-mailed Tokyopop and they said they were trying to aquire the liscense.

The manga has been liscensed by CMX. According to Amazon.com the first Volume of the comes out November 01, 2005. Here is a pic of it.

Remember, every downhill has its uphill.
The manga has finally be licensed!? ReallY!? I love the art, it's just too beautiful. Each page is full of good art, sort of like an artbook.
How has CMX fared in releasing other English manga? Is it the right-to-left Japanese format? How about the sound effects?
I never checked out the anime because it looks really magical girlish and reminds me of Cardcaptor Sakura.
The manga doesn't seem magical girlish to me for some reason. I must be distracted by the art?

So the manga finally got licensed. Isn't it supposed to go under the title Phantom Thief Jeanne? To me, that sorta detracts from the religious theme that the manga has.

They were going to call it that but they changed it back to Kamekaze Kaitou Jeanne.DistantMemory wrote:Isn't it supposed to go under the title Phantom Thief Jeanne?
I haven't bought any of CMX's manga yet so I don't know about the sound effects. But I do know they release them right to left. So far the only release of theirs I've heard complaints about has been Tenjho TengeSakuya wrote:How has CMX fared in releasing other English manga? Is it the right-to-left Japanese format? The anime is being released in an 8-Disc Boxet October 26, 2005. Here is CDJapan's link to the set.

My thoughts?
I don't like it ^^° Anime AND manga. Well, the manga is better drawn (of course, since it's from Arina Tanemura), I thought that the animation was one of the worst I've ever seen. It doen't do justice to Tanemura's works in the LEAST.
And the story was just very... "meh" xD;; Very boring, but nonetheless interesting characters. But I still don't like it how Tanemura does seem to have very little creativity left, since all her characters resemble each other. All the men almost look the same, same with the women, although the mangaka sometimes puts in a new hairstyle like with Mitsuki in "Full Moon o Sagashite".
Like I said, I don't like KKJ, but I fancy some o Tanemura's other works. x3
