Maze

Post by Rindesayu » Sun Mar 21, 2004 12:37 pm

Another thread, another anime probably no one's heard of, but just in case...

There's this one called Maze Bakunetsu Jiku (translating to "Maze Megaburst Space"). It's about a pretty, mild-mannered college student that wakes up one day to find herself (and the house as well) in a strange, RPG-esque dimension. She's almost entirely amnesiac and can only remember her name--"Maze". I can't describe the rest of the plot because there's just too much to it, but I can say one thing--you'll probably be reminded of Ranma 1/2 if you decide to watch it, for throughout the 26-episode series, Maze turns into a guy (and not a very pleasant one at that) the second the sun dips below the horizon every evening.

There's also a 2-episode OAV, but it's just a confusing, fanservice-loaded mess that was pulled out from the middle of the 6-volume Maze manga. It had excellent visuals, and it was humorous and entertaining enough, but even slight unsatisfaction is almost guaranteed if you view them without any Maze background.

Once again, if you have seen (or want to see) any of this show, feel free to add your comments.

Oh, dear god, I love MAZE. XD; Male Maze preferably. He is so delightfully letcherous. And of course I love Solude and Aster! XD!!! And Gold, and Ran Chiki. Gah! I like them all! ^_^ Everyone has their own charm. If I had to choose favorite, it'd be Male Maze. Fantasy, Adventutre, comedy, mildly perverse at times with a hint of Mecha. Ahh, that's some great stuff.

Not to mention that series has 2 of my favorite Japanese voice actors. Tomokazu Seki (Male Maze) and Orikasa Ai (Solude).
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

Ah, I agree! Gotta love Male Maze. Tomokazu Seki-sama rocks this frickin' earth! :)

Y'know, if the OAV was made into a complete series, I actually think it would have been pretty darned good. Oh well. I suppose the already wonderful TV series will do.

I didn't care for what I've seen of Maze. To be fair, though, part of that was probably because I watched it raw, and had no idea what was going on.

"Oh yeah. Someone is definitely tired of breathing." ("The Main Man", Part 1)

I'm writing this Sailor Moon/Green Lantern crossover AU fic called "Emerald Sunrise". It's a hybrid of Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Comedy. It's about Ami (Sailor Mercury) getting a new boyfriend who just happens to be a member of The Green Lantern Corps. I'm also throwing in some other characters from other animes and some old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the late '60's early '70's. I'm also illustrating it as well. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

I combined your two posts made one after the other. Please use the edit feature to add on to a post you just made rather than make a whole new post with an afterthought after you made the first.
