I have no idea whether those shows have same-sex romances in them or not, but I'm pretty sure ValleyGirl was using "gay" as a general insult, am I right? If ValleyGirl really WAS using it to mean "homosexual-like" then I stand corrected.

1. Robotech:

After buying (and watching) the original Macross DVDs, subbed, I never went back to watching Robotech again, after Rebecca Forstadt's "singing" performance.

2. Dragon Ball Z:

Here's the series in a nutshell:

Villain comes in, good guy tries to fight him, fails, powers up, returns, succesfully defeats villain, another villain comes in, lather, rinse, and repeat.
"After all these years, you know it's not about control. It's about trying to do everything I can. And for you, it's about setting an example. Everyone looks up to you. They listen to you. If you tell them to fight, they'll fight. But they need to be inspired, and let's face it, 'Superman'...the last time you really inspired anyone... was when you were dead." -- Batman, to Superman, Infinite Crisis, issue 1

I was trying to be sarcastic because I thought calling it "gay" was insulting, but sarcasm doesn't work well over the Internet, since you can't tell my tone of voice.

No, I didn't, actually. I simply made the point that Sailor Moon was repetitive. But I didn't say "Well, Pokemon may be repetitve, but Sailor Moon is even MORE repetitive". But I didn't compare the two. My point was that this person didn't like Pokemon becuase it was too repetitve..but yet, they like Sailor Moon even though it's repetitive, too.

But they hate Pokemon because it's TOO repetitive. There's only a certain level of repetiveness one could take before their brain explodes and I guess Pokemon pushed their limit too much.

..and sailor moon ISN'T ridiculously repetitive? ^^;
Evil presence is felt. Energy is stolen. Senshi try to figure out why. Monster of the day appears. Senshi fight. Usagi klutzes out. Tux appears. Tells her to attack. She attacks. They win. Yay.

I love Sailor Moon, but it's pretty damn repetitive lol.
That's true, but when the story does pick up it get real interesting. Pokemon does have its moments, but it rarely has the same momentum as Sailormoon. By the way, isn't the general complaint against SuperS is that the episodes got too repetitive?

I can't believe I forgot to mention this one: Rurouni Kenshin.
At first the storylines were pretty good. I thought the beginning episodes were amusing, the Kyoto arc was simply awesome, and I even enjoyed the Christian saga. But when they got in to feng shui, I was like  . What the hell did they do to you Kenshin? -.-;;.

I think the domination of the season by Chibi-usa (and Usagi, imo) that is the biggest complaint about SuperS

Hmm anime that I gave up on...

Princess Mononoke: I bought it in Chinatown for $7 Can. (I'm guessing that would be approx $4 US) I watched it as soon as I got home and found it to be a total groaner. I would never sit through that movie again, so I just gave it to my friend.

Spirited Away: Another Studio Ghibli movie. I watched this at my friend's house and again, I found it to be really boring. It just didn't really draw me in at all...

Pokemon: I thought it was cool when it came out when I was in grade 7, but then it got repetitve and boring, so I gave up on it. I could care less if it ever gets subbed or not.

Escaflowne: I watched a few episodes on TV, and it was boring, again.

Dragon Ball: I used to watch that show religiously every Saturday back in the day (1995) when I was 9. I was a pretty hyper and energetic kid, so I always got up early on Saturdays to watch cartoons. Then YTV kept rerunning the episodes, so I gave up on it. I'm not really a big fan of shonen anime anymore.

Wow... not to sound confrontational or anything, but that is the first time I've heard of someone not liking those classics from Studio Ghibli.

I gave up on Dragonball Z and Yu-gi-oh after watching a few episodes for the same reason - everything takes insanely long to finish. After I saw a Freiza episode where Goku took the entire episode the charge up, I decided to stick only to the movies where an attack can occur in less than a minute.
Also, I remember an episode in Yu-gi-oh where Yami Tugi challenges an armed robber who just knocked out Anzu to a CARD GAME. I was like WTF :x Who the Hell challenges a mugger to a card game? Just kick his ass!!! And to top it off, the retard actually accepted the challenge. Gee, I wonder why he got caught?

Sorry to get this off topic, but the Studio Ghibli movie I did enjoy was Kiki's Delivery Service. That's the only movie out of the three Studio Ghibli movies I've seen that I did actually enjoy.

Mahou Tsukai Tai is another anime/manga I gave up on.

Animes I gave up on...

Furi Kuri/FLCL-The show was very conusing to me..it had too much going on, and with the exception of the purple-haired girl and the teacher, all the characters were annoying. (Especially the one with the guitar.)

Sailor Moon-Suprised? Well, I have to make this clear: I'm a dubbie. When I saw S and SuperS, I was dissapointed by the voice and music changes, and by the time SuperS ended, I hated the series. I still watched it religiously, but only half-interested. Now that I understand all the crap DiC and Clowerway did to Sailor Moon, and realizing that overall the original music was better than Dic's,I regret my close-mindedness and wish S and Super S would come back on so I can give it another chance...

Dragon Ball Z/GT- The characters were boring, and the whole show was based around fighting, more specifically useless banter. I also hate Akira Toriyama's drawing stlye, no offense to him.

Ruroni Kenshin-I liked the show up until the Seshi Arc. Then it introduced a ton of new characters (15?), and the plot got confusing.

Yugi-Oh-I never liked the whole "animes centered around card-games" trend. It seemed like one big advertisement for the card game, IMO. ALL the characters were dull, and unbearably cheesy. If I had to hear another friendship speech from that anoying Tea character, I would've shot my TV.

Pokemon- Three words: Too much filler.

Her name is Haruko. C'mon guys, if you're going to hate a character, at least remember her name =D Ugh, FLCL. I didn't like it much, but the rela kicker for me was the ending, in which
Naota admits his feelings for the creepy, guitar-wielding psycho that is Haruko, who only hung around with him in the first place to get to her lover. She never realy cared for Naota at all, and that pissed me off.
Anyway, another anime I want to add to my list is Full Metal Panic!. The second the series no longer revolved in a school building, and the second the annoying klutzy girl (TM) Testarossa Theresa came, I lost all interest.

Sakura Wars. I bought the OVA boxset recently, after having wanted to see it for years, and... boring! That's all I can say about it. It bored the hell out of me. And the box lied, for it said it was bilingual, and only discs two and three were. Ive never been so happy to see a faulty disc (no vocal track on episodes three and four. Just music. And no subtitles. Dumb) in my life, so I could take it back and get me a refund, guilt free.

Seriously though, technical nonsense aside, it was boring, the characters were nice but they weren't very interesting, nothing happened at all, and they didn't even use the darn robots for anything after the first four episodes! All I'd ever read about it was people saying "a superior game adaptation... don't need to have played the game to watch it... overcomes its roots wonderfully..." not so. Hmph.

Nice music though. ;)

Gundam Wing: I watched about half of this series but never got into it, and finally decided to just give up. Never even tried to get into any other Gundam series since this. It's just not my thing.

Nadia: First I bought the first two videos of the original Carl Macek dub (where all the episodes are edited together as a movie and Jean has a bad French accent) when I found them at a used book store. Then a year later I finally decided to continue watching it and I got the ADV dub, where Jean has an even worse French accent but at least the openings and closings are intact. But I never got the last video, and I can't say I really care how it ended.

Blue Gender: I love Evangelion, but I found this series to be to overly serious and melodramatic. I still watched most of due to a lack of anything better to do, but I missed a few episodes including the last one, and I can't say I care at all about how it ends.

Dragonball Z: I watched half of an episode once and that was enough for me.

Pokemon- I loved like the first two series...but it just got really dumb after that...

Digimon- I loved the first three seasons...but lately it sucked really badly...

Sailor Moon- Well I love the whole thing...but it's like it....got old! It was the same routine almost every episode...But I still love it....no doubt about that!!

(God how much I wish they'd Dub Sailor Stars....But just think how great it originally is...to what Cloverway and them can do to it!!)

anime i gave up on...

scrapped princess-i tried and tried to like it, there were several things i found charming about the show, but damn! after 10 episodes and no plot arising in the slightest i just had to give up on it.

hunter x hunter-what can i say? it was just to damn happy-go-lucky for me.

pocket monsters-i liked the first two series and advanced generations, but everything in between should have just been called "the filler arc". i mean really, how many times can we see satoshi walk through the same damn forest, finding some damn kid to battle, and rocket dan try to steal that damn pikachu before it starts to get old?

dragonball z/gt*ahem* "i will rule the world!", "no you won't! we will fight!", *makes constipated yells for 10 episodes* *insert reused figting footage* "ouchy! i have lost!", "now let's revive goku for the 10th time! yippy skippy!"....enough said...

DNangel-sorry daisuke, but there are just so many times i can see you and dark try to steal the same crap over and over again before i start to have dreams where you die... moving on...

one piece-not yet, but i'm really considering it. it's just too far-fetched and repetitive for me. not to mention i absolutely hate the animation style (just draw one woman that looks remotely different! just one!!)

that's all i can think of now (that, and i'm about to fall asleep at my computer) so i'll just end it here. if i think of more i will post again. good night...
