Maybe they'll give them vegetable names so that kids will eat their veggies if their favorite heros are named after them. :D

Raddish
Turnip
Brocoli
Cucumber
Pumpernickel

I have never seen or read TMM, but I have a friend who's in love with it and cried when I told her about Hollywood Mew Mew, now she'll be happy and come out of her hole :wink:

Bad news: According to this report (<-- link, it's a PDF file) 4Kids has changed the name to "MewMew Power"

If you can't read .pdf files, I'll quote the part that states this information:
“ We will be introducing exciting, new properties on the FoxBox in the fall of 2004, including “ One
Piece” , “ MewMew Power” and “ F-Zero” . The Company’ s diversified portfolio of properties and
the planned roll-out in the second half of 2004 of new licensed merchandise for many of our brands
makes us optimistic about our prospects for the remainder of the year,” concluded Kahn.
Also, I believe that there will be a preview of those shows (the ones quoted above) on the FoxBox this Saturday, the 14th.

Anubi: Oh God.
Anubi: I just saw Mog/Terra hentai.
Kari: XDDDDDDDDDDDD
Anubi: My life is snow scarred.
Kari: ooooo, snow
Anubi: Oo, fun.
Anubi: SNOW SCARRED.
Anubi: WHOO.

That's...incredibly stupid. This pops into my head: "HOLLYWOOODD....MEWMEW...POWEER! *FLASHY EFFECTS*"

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

MewMew Power???? What kind of name is that? I thought they had finally decided to keep it at Tokyo Mew Mew to stop the confusion. I think I need to go lay down. This is too much to handle. *goes and has a good cry*

As Bob might say in the Comparisons, we can't let the kids think that cities exist in Asia--they might go there and become violent or drug addicts.
Things I think Are Funny Early in the Morning: If Batman were a Smurf: "Quick, Robin! We must smurf down to the Batcave and smurf the Batplane! Then we must smurf the batsmurf so we can smurf where the Joker is smurfing!"

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

Why in the damn hell is the word 'Tokyo' SO BAD?

For Godsake, IT'S A FREAKING CITY. IT'S THE CAPITAL OF JAPAN.

What is 4Kids' problem with having shows take place in Japan?! Even DIC/CWI allowed Sailor Moon to take place in Japan! (They even mentioned the Tokyo Tower)

I have'nt even seen Tokyo Mew Mew, but the fact they REFUSE to show it takes place in Japan pisses me off.

4Kids, you suck.

*RANTING MODE*

To those who whine about 4Kids, I got three words for you:

GET OVER IT!

Now don't you guys accuse me of being an asskisser for 4Kids.

I agree with you that their quality of dubbing went downhill since "Mewtwo Strikes Back", but IMO, it looks like that everyone is thinking that the company is the sign of the apocalypse.

So, if you don't like the quality of any 4Kids show, it's as easy as picking up the remote and changing the channel.

*END RANTING MODE**

On the bright side, 4Kids is FINALLY releasing the uncut, subbed Yu-Gi-Oh and Shaman King, which will be released by Funi.

Now if they can get Viz to release the uncut, subbed Pocket Monsters...
"After all these years, you know it's not about control. It's about trying to do everything I can. And for you, it's about setting an example. Everyone looks up to you. They listen to you. If you tell them to fight, they'll fight. But they need to be inspired, and let's face it, 'Superman'...the last time you really inspired anyone... was when you were dead." -- Batman, to Superman, Infinite Crisis, issue 1

And some of us were merely makin fun of the name. Regardless of who is dubbing it, it IS a stupid name.

As for the rest of your rant *shrug* I agree, and I've said pretty much the same thing myself in terms of "change the channel".

ADMIN MOD: But you really have no right to tell these people to "get over it". They can whine about it if they want, and while I agree that not watching the shows would be THAT much easier...if they want to discuss it, they can. And right now, mosto f the people discussing it are angry about 4kids' choice. They're asking legtimate questions, like "Why is the word Tokyo always cut?". Please calm yourself down, allright?

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.

To quote a scene from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, 4Kids is one of those things otaku "claim to hate yet can't stop discussing about", along with Robotech, DIC, Relena, Miaka, Tenchi in Tokyo, Dragonball GT, and Sailor Moon Super S (and to an extent, Chibi-Usa).

The bad news has changed to worse, worse news. I have dub name changes for everyone.

Ichigo = Zoe
Mint = Corina
Lettuce = Bridget
Pudding = Kiki
Zakuro = Renee

No word on Masaya, Ryou or Keiichirou.

Weapons:

Zakuro Spear = Purple Dagger
Mint Arrow = Heart Bow and Arrow
Lettuce Castanets = Morse Code Castanets
Pudding Rings = Golden Tamborine
Strawberry Bell = Strawberry Bell

They're referring to the Chimera Animals as Zenaklons (sp.)

If you go to the FoxBox website (<-- link)you can see the (horrid) trailer.

I don't think I'll be able to watch this with Ichigo's name like that *really hates that name* It'll be a dub I record for collection and comparison purposes. Yes, I plan on doing comparisons for episodes that I have the fansubs of. I can see that I'll be writing A LOT...

1) Zoe is the name of one of my friends' cats. Ichigo is part-cat. :twisted:
2) Since Lettuce is green, you think they're going to have her be Irish? (imagines the Lucky Charms Leprechaun voice for Lettuce) Try my Mew Mew Power, it's magically delcious! (she eats the show)
3) Pudding is pink? I thought she was golden...this should be Ichigo's name. Actually, this also reminds me of Pinky and the Brain. (imagines the poor confused kids--How come Pinky has a yellow outfit and yellow hair? Mom: That's because there's a new color order. Yellow is pink and pink is yellow. Kids: :shock: )

I made a couple edits to my original post, after listening to the trailer again. Might make more if I can listen to it again x_X;;

Also on the FoxBox site, you can vote for what show will be shown as a full episode, but there's programs running that are rigging the votes anyway (someone I saw on GameFAQs has a screenshot with this show having -100% votes)

I'm acually hoping for a full episode. I'm trying to optimistic, going by the phrase "You can't judge a book by it's cover." meaning "You can't judge a dub by it's preview."

If I can last hearing Ichigo's dub name.

Pudding is Kiki, not Pinky? I like that name better since it's not confusing (it's not the wrong color!) but then I lose my "pink is yellow" joke. (actually, I really do like the name Kiki)

A rather general question, is FoxBox (meaning, this new Mew Mew dub) going to be on the same channel as the Simpsons? Or is FoxBox it's own channel? I really tend not to pay good attention to TV stuff like that, gomen.

Rainbow: As most TV commercials say, check your local listing ^^;; It differs from region to region...in Miami, the FoxBox comes on obscure channel that we don't get, whereas the Simpsons appears on the designated FOX affiliate. Here in Boston, FoxBox does appear on the Fox affiliate, so it's the same channel as the Simpsons. Poke your TV Guide and you should find the info there.

I wonder, since they've changed the girls' names, what will be their "hero names"? Will they keep the food theme in their hero names, or will/did 4kids change them to Mew Zoe, Mew Kiki, or something like that?

And "Mew Mew Power" sounds just as corny as "Hollywood Mew Mew". Well, then again, "Tokyo Mew Mew" did, but it made sense, seeing as the girls live in Tokyo. "Hollywood" only americanizes the concept, while Mew Mew Power makes it sound like an animated girls' version of Power Rangers..

Maybe 4kids'll call them Mew Pink (how original), Mew Blue, Mew Green, Mew Yellow, and Mew Purple?

I HOPE there'll be a subbed release of this. Otherwise, I'll get the manga to fill in my emptyness. Won't kids get confused, though, if they see the manga after watching the TV show?

Kid:"Mummy, why is Zoe called Itchy-go? And what's a Zakuro? Why is Kiki named 'Pudding'? I'm hungry!"

Mom:"Uhhh.."

Kid:"What's a 'Tokyo'? It says To-kyo Mew Mew!"

Eh..only my two cents on this matter. Now that the initial shock is over, there's nothing that anyone can really do about it except sit and either watch the dub, or hope that SOMEONE will release a subbed version..
