Can another company still release a subtitled version? Like how DiC bought Saint Seiya and edited it, while ADV releases the series uncut.

That can only happen if the companies have an agreement. And I think that one of the only reasons Saint Seiya still exists is beacuse it had a pretty big fanbase prior to it being licensed.

You're saying that if as if the Japanese verson of Sonic X is any better or, Heaven forbid, is even GREAT. Personally, I find the series to be extremely mediocre and overrated, saved only by the occassionally hilarious scene. Not even the awful 4Kids could ruin an anime about Sonic with a plot that was already pretty childish and stupid from the get-go. Even the Saturday morning series had a better plot than that.

Isn't it funny how 4kids seems to be grabbing anime up left and right? Pretty soon all of our favorite unlicensed anime will probably be swallowed up and turned into crap by them..

And no, 4kids doesn't just need a shuriken to the eye, they need to be turned into chickens, have shuriken lodged in their eyes, be beaten with nunchakus and tonfas, and then sliced apart by Sai blades..

Nah, that's too complex. What someone needs to do is shoot them into the sun. Then we all can watch the fireworks rain down. Or maybe that asteroid that they say might hit the earth in 2014 will head straight for 4kids' buildings..

Good idea Anna Roz. at least the males. the females we dress up like Black magician Girl, Water Dancer, Gemeni Elves, any girl there are a ton of Fanboys for, and then hand all the females to the fanboys for them to do as they wish. XD

People, you need to CALM DOWN. NOW. 4Kids' hack-jobs of these shows is not solely the fault of their executives. The FCC and certain other groups of influence have a LOT to say as to how a show, imported from overseas where standards are different than ours, become translated and edited to comply with current laws. Further, there is really no need to add them to a "death list", or threaten to kill them in one way or another. Even if it's a joke, it's gotten WAY out of hand; at the end of the day, it's just a cartoon, and if you really want to see the original versions, I'm sure there are ways to do that.

I know, I was only kidding, though. Not too sure about the other guys..But I wouldn't go as far as the other guys have suggested. I try to at least hold back when I'm joking about some issue like this. But either way, I was only kidding about the 'shoot into the sun' thing. However, I still am a bit ticked, although not as shocked as when the news first broke. So now that this is OLD news, I think we should calm down a bit..

Variois new PRs 4kids has released lately have used the original title rather the Holywood one. Since they show up on the PRs and there's been no uncut plans announced so far, I think it's safe to say it's true.

I think it means "press report". And yes, I've seen multiple sources saying that Tokyo Mew Mew is keeping its Japanese name in America, just like MarioKnight-san said.

It's press release actually, basically they're offical documents that companies write up and hand out to various people, usually publically on their own sites, where in the case of anime the company would provide a simple description of the anime, their plans for release and other marketing-type plans, any other products related to the show, and PRs always end with basic info of the company who wrote it.

Okay, that's much better, especially since there's already Tokyo Mew Mew manga out there on the market. Then again, I wonder what the names are going to be? Here are some guesses:

Ichigo=Strawberry
Mint=Blueberry
Lettuce=Mint (because since when would kids want to watch a show with a heroine named after a food they hate?!

)
Pudding probably wouldn't be changed, unless she's called Lemon or Peach or something like that. But if they called her Peach then the Wedding Peach or Mario companies could sue them...
Zakuro would probably be Raspberry or Cherry or even Chocolate since Pomegranite wouldn't go over too well with a group that's trying to reach kids.

Then again they might get completely different names in regular form and only keep their Mew Mew names when they're transformed.

I wonder, though, are they going to NOT Americanize it anymore? Or are they stupid enough to Americanize a show with "Tokyo" in the title?
