Shades of Venus 5! I think the superheroes in that one were named something similar to that, only Venus Pink, Venus Blue, etc. The hentai fans will have a field day if 4Kids decides to name the Mew Mews that!

Edit: I just listened to a voice clip (no visual) of the dub promo.
1) I actually think the thing about it being hard to be a superhero and be in love does fit Ichigo because she has a lot of trouble with trying to hide not only her identity as a Mew Mew, but also her cat transformations from Masaya. (of course, it often works the opposite way in other maho shoujo stories)
2) Awww, I guess Lettuce isn't going to be Irish.

I would've liked that, but that's just me. And since when is Lettuce brainy?! I don't remember that from my manga, though the anime might be different. I remembered her as the clumsy one.
3) I wonder if they're going to call them by their animal names when they're transformed.

It looks like they changed the title of the show again. I can't remember at all what it's called right now. I'll get back to you guys on that a bit later. My friend and I watched the preview the other day and it looked pretty stupid to us (the dub that is), though we haven't seen the original yet. But I'm speaking from experience, most dubs suck usually.

If you haven't already heard, the first episode of Mew Mew Power will be showing on September 18th. The episode title is "Becoming A Cat" No word yet on what time the episode will show.

Well, I just found out that I have access to FoxBOX so I can watch it! I'm happy because I'm curious to see what they did to it, it might be amusing. Or annoying. I'll just find out later, when it premires!

Probably the same as some of the people who come up with the original titles for anime, 'cause there are some damn wierd titles out there...

Zakuro carries a crosswhip, not a spear. It clearly shows in the anime that the attack works somewhat like Venus Love-Me Chain in Sailor Moon, only it's purple not golden.

While you might not feel the urge to read through long topics, such a thing is necessary to avoid repeating comments made by other users already. Some of the posts on the last few pages have already mentioned that the name is going to be "MewMew Power" rather than "Hollywood Mew Mew".

Some more news, can be seen as good, bad, or both. 4Kids has released the schedule for the FoxBox starting September 18th. and Mew Mew Power is NOT on the schedule. You can see the schedule here: http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.p ... ost1413753

People are guessing that the show will start in the winter, or in 2005 now.

Eh, maybe that'll be a good thing. After all, didn't 4Kids supposedly get Ojamajo Doremi about a year ago, and we haven't heard anything about it. Maybe this will die out as well.

I recently watched the English opening animation for Tokyo Mew Mew and I must say it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be. At least it's safe to say that it's not going to become another Cardcaptors now. The singer they had selected wasn't perfect but she wasn't too bad, either. I was also surprised that they actually mentioned romance in the song as I was expecting it to be cut out completely, and I was even more surprised that they didn't even mention the name of the show in the lyrics at all. I'm actually somewhat curious to watch it now. I had downloaded a fansub for episode one of Tokyo Mew Mew about a year ago but it didn't really appeal to me any because I thought it was kind of generic, but I might give it another chance whenever it airs on TV. I'm definitely going to check out the manga sometime. I thought ADV once tried to buy the rights to this series, didn't they? If they did, how come the Japanese producers gave the rights to 4Kids instead of ADV?

I can't confirm or deny (damn, I sound like their company reps saying that ^^;;; ) ADV trying to get the rights to this anime, though I can explain how they didn't get it if they did. Simple business practice, either 4kids offered more money for the rights or the Japanese license holders set a price which only 4kids was willing to pay, 4kids could've hopped on them first, etc. There are many factors that determine who get's what anime to release over here, and just because a company says they want something doesn't gurantee it. ADV has said they'd like every anime (I heard David Williams say this myself at A-kon 15 in a Q&A session), does that mean they'll get it? No.

I missed the premiere of MMP last week, but I managed to catch the first episode today and it was awful. They changed all the music and names, turned Ichigo's friends into snobby valleygirls, had horrible VAs, and there was one scene they cut out where Ichigo gets surrounded by this light and the cat flies into her body. They probably cut it out for brief nudity, but you couldn't see anything at all, so I don't see why it needed to be cut. Probably the only thing I liked about the dub was the catchy opening theme song, but that was it. Here's hoping for an official uncut DVD release.

Since it's dubbed by the same company that dubbed Pokemon, I personally don't want to get my hopes up for an unedited release. Mainly because there's no unedited Pokemon release, so I doubt they would do it for Mew Mew.

I'm not sure, but I heard that Nintendo is the one who won't let Pokemon be released unedited, so there still may be hope for Mew Mew ^_^

But 4Kids did release uncut Shaman King and Yugioh, so there's always hope....
