Kahn’s hopes focus on a pair of intriguingly titled shows, Winx Club (set for a springtime premiere) and Hollywood Mew Mew to follow later in the year. The imported and localized shows (Hollywood Mew Mew was originally Tokyo Mew Mew) are intended to attract both genders by empowering girls while giving boys cute babes and plenty of action to look at. “Even though the shows have girl-skewed merchandising opportunities, we certainly believe boys will watch them as well,” says Kahn. “I think if it’s an action-adventure show you’re okay. Xena had a large male audience, and look at PowerPuff Girls, boys watch that as well. The girls in Mew Mew [coffee house waitresses by day, animal eared and -tailed crimefighters by night] are tough. There’s a lot of action and there are guy characters in these shows as well. We think that will work for us to build our girls comp, which currently is much lower than our boys comp.”

o_o oh god, the name sound horrid. HOLLYWOOD. I can't judge the dub until I've seen it, but the name doesn't bode well. For me anyway.

You know, it was bad enough that in Sailor Moon, they kept replacing the japanese writing or referred to it as "imagination", but it's even worse that now they've sunk so low as to actually change the name of the title so that it's more "American".

I'm utterly disgusted.

This is just sad. I can't wait to see what the name and other changes will be. The series had ADV written all over it so what happened??

WEEEEE!!! When is it showing? Even if it's a greatly changed dub, I'll still want to see it. That might make for it being funny. (and I'm probably going to look for subs of the original TMM at ACen this year)

Sure, of course changing the name is xenophobic. But I'd still like to see it...bad dubs often equal silly time for me! (hopes they have weird accents

4Kids has a habit of changing any references to Japan to America, to say nothing of the fact that they use horrible voice actors and make unnecessary changes to scripts. They've butchered Yu-Gi-Oh, and I have no doubt in my mind how horribly they'll treat TMM. Granted, I wasn't that big a fan of it to begin with, but we all know how well dubbed shows have done when they're re-scripted for both audiences (Cardcaptors, anyone?) I really, REALLY do not like them or the way they handle their licenses; I'm surprised the Japanese producers of the show let them get their hands on it, considering their track record with their shows so far.

Oh...dear...God! Hollywood Mew Mew?! 4Kids JUST passed Nelvana as the worst dubbing group of all time with that move. And since it's being dubbed by 4Kids, there's no way in Hell to get the Japanese version now..*sobs uncontrollably, as he wanted to watch the series so much too*

Watch them get Lisa Ortiz, or the equally untalented Rachel Lillis, to do the female lead.. *shudders*

I mean, really, Sailor Moon got dubbed but that didn't stop fansubbers from making fansubs, now did it? And those can often be found at...(drumroll) ANIME CONVENTIONS!!

I don't know whether or not to be sad. I saw the first episode of Tokyo Mew Mew awhile back and the show didn't really appeal to me much at all. I don't know, it just was too....dull. Please forgive me Tokyo Mew Mew fans! I feel your pain, though, with this new dumb title "Hollywood Mew Mew." *dies* Does this mean we'll be seein more Cardcaptors in the future....?

4Kids CEO Al Kahn stated, "By the time we localize the programs kids don’t even know they’re from Japan any more." The statement was exclusively in reference to children's programming, Kahn stated that he felt that labels such as "Anime" are for adults and mean nothing to children.

Um....at every single convention i've gone to, if a show is licensed by a company, you are not allowed to sell fansubs or bootlegged merchandise.

No, no, NO! This is all wrong..First 4kids got their grubby smelly paws on Doremi, and now they're going to ruin Tokyo Mew Mew! HOLLYWOOD Mew Mew my ass! I hate 4kids with even more passion than before..4kids has just made yet another enemy, me. Where are 4kids' offices? No, no, don't look at me like that, I'm not going to commit any terror acts against them..just, aw forget it. As for hopes of an uncut, subtitled release, my hope is gone. 4kids, at least in my opinion, only is interested in butchering more and more anime, and americanizing it. The poor dubbies'll be confused..One thing that makes me grossed out about 4kids is that they called the Doremi girls "sexy". Sexy? SEXY!? I think 4kids has yet another nasty secret besides them being xenophobic anime-killers..*cough cough* pedophiles *cough*. 4kids is now on my list, so in case any of us anime fans one day go psychotic, we know who to go to..

"Hollywood Mew Mew" will be the next undoing in American anime history, which will probably cause the death of uncut anime as we know it.
