Happy Lesson

Post by Neo Dead Moon » Tue Jan 27, 2004 10:30 am

I saw the first episode of the tv series courtesy of the Janurary 2004 DVD insert from Newtype USA. I thought it was really cute (and SO not a rip-off of Love Hina/Maison IKooku/Tenchi/etc.). Anyone else seen it, or the OAVs/second tv series (Happy Lesson Advance)? If so, what is your opinion?

I have the whole series on a CD somewhere, and watched it recently. It is pretty good.

I have the first volume of the manga, too. Different in a lot of ways (the main character is a different person, for starters), but still good

I didn't like it. It seemed like another boy surrounded with girls anime. Of course lately every anime is like it.

Except that most of the women involved consider themselves mothers to him...

Still, its one of those anime that has one male character surrounded by pretty females. Tenchi Muyo! is about a boy surrounded by women that love him, Love Hina is about a boy surrounded by woman that hate him. Then here, all the women act as his mother.

Since when have all the women of Love Hina hated Keitaro? They're all in love with him. Naru, Shinobu, even Motoko.

Well, maybe I shouldn't have put as an example being that I've hardley read any of Love Hina.

But I still find Happy Lesson alittle too much like a 'cliche' boy with loads of girls anime.

To the naked eye, it seems as if they hate him. They kicks his ass constantly, saying mean things about it. I myself thought they couldnt' stand him until looking a bit more into it. I get tired of the whole "Oh, I love you, but I'm going to treat you like shit" thing....which is why I don't care for Love Hina, or pretty much any other "guy surrounded by girl" anime in general.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.
