Yes, I'm a pretty big fan of Tenchi, and have been into the franchise for a while now. I've collected several of them on DVD, and just recently got to filling in the last hole (which was Tenchi in Tokyo). I'm also going to be collecting FUNi's release of Tenchi GXP, and whenever OVA 3 comes out, I'll be getting it. Out of the main Tenchi series, my favorite is definitely the OVA series, and I enjoyed Universe and in Tokyo. I love all three movies, with the second one (Daughter of Darkness) being my absolute favorite of the three. I also like Pretty Sammy OVA and Magical Project S, maybe even more so than the Tenchi series. Misao/Pixy Misa rocks!

I think Julie Maddalena was quite fitting for both Mayuka and Sakuya (I just recently got to watch Tenchi in Tokyo again). She's one of my favorite VA's, so I always like to hear roles from her (she was perfectly cast as Meilin in CCS Movie 2). As far as Sakuya herself goes, I liked her, but not really as much as many of the other girls.

Funimation is farming out the dubbing of Tenchi GXP to an LA-based studio, so there's a good chance that K.T. Vogt may reprise her role as Washu, as she is one of the original characters that make regular appearances in the series.
Yep, Seina will be sounding like Lupin instead, since it's been revealed from a checkdisc review that it is Tony Oliver who is voicing him. Well, OK, if not Lupin, maybe Keiichi is a little closer. ;) And yeah, I'm hoping for the original VA's to returns for GXP and OVA 3.

Also, Tony Oliver did Rick Hunter in **shudder** Robotech.

A couple of weeks ago, I've finished up watching Tenchi GXP, and my diagnosis is this:

*gives thumbs up*

Basically my ranking of the series is this (excluding Pretty Sammy and the movies):

1. Tenchi OAV
2. Tenchi GXP
3. Tenchi in Tokyo (by a close margin)
4. Tenchi Universe (to me, that's The Ryoko Show)

When I watched that one episode of GXP featuring Tenchi and company dubbed, my diagnosis is this:

*give thumbs in the middle*

Jessica Gee (who did Washu) tried to pull off her best K.T. Vogt, but misses.

Mona Marshall (who did Ryoko) is definitely no Petrea Burchard, as she now sounds like a goof. Her Ryo-ohki, however, is a little bit better than Debi Derryberry's.

Rebecca Forstadt's version of Ayeka sounds like that she has a British accent. Not better than Jennifer Darling.

Renee Emerson's Sasami: She doesn't have the cuteness feeling that Sherry Lynn has, but she's on he right spot. I'll have to listen to her again.

And finally, Chris Kent's Tenchi: He now sounds a lot older, and from a couple of sources, like Joey (from Yu-Gi-Oh), which, to me, is a no-go.

Basically, now that Funi has the rights to the third OAV (and the fact that it's not over yet), this'll give Funi the time to try to contact the original voice actors (Matt, Petrea, Jennifer, Sherry, Debi, K.T., Rebecca, etc.).

UPDATE: As for my thoughts for the GXP characters:

Seina: the new Tenchi
Amane: the new Ryoko
Kiriko: the new Ayeka
Neju: the new Sasami
Fuku: the new Ryo-Ohki
NB: the new Noboyuki
Mitoto: the new Mihoshi (no suprise here)

Your not alone, I enjoy it as well.
Me too, actually. I think Sakuya was the best for Tenchi...
And to LFS and crazydiamond... the only thing I gotta say is...

Thank you.

And after that, I'm thinking of, in the future, I'm gonna make a Tenchi in Tokyo support page (a la the excellent In Defense of Sailor Moon Super S webpage), and prove the anti-TinT people wrong!
