A couple of weeks ago, I've finished up watching Tenchi GXP, and my diagnosis is this:
*gives thumbs up*
Basically my ranking of the series is this (excluding Pretty Sammy and the movies):
1. Tenchi OAV
2. Tenchi GXP
3. Tenchi in Tokyo (by a close margin)
4. Tenchi Universe (to me, that's The Ryoko Show)
When I watched that one episode of GXP featuring Tenchi and company dubbed, my diagnosis is this:
*give thumbs in the middle*
Jessica Gee (who did Washu) tried to pull off her best K.T. Vogt, but misses.
Mona Marshall (who did Ryoko) is definitely no Petrea Burchard, as she now sounds like a goof. Her Ryo-ohki, however, is a little bit better than Debi Derryberry's.
Rebecca Forstadt's version of Ayeka sounds like that she has a British accent. Not better than Jennifer Darling.
Renee Emerson's Sasami: She doesn't have the cuteness feeling that Sherry Lynn has, but she's on he right spot. I'll have to listen to her again.
And finally, Chris Kent's Tenchi: He now sounds a lot older, and from a couple of sources, like Joey (from Yu-Gi-Oh), which, to me, is a no-go.
Basically, now that Funi has the rights to the third OAV (and the fact that it's not over yet), this'll give Funi the time to try to contact the original voice actors (Matt, Petrea, Jennifer, Sherry, Debi, K.T., Rebecca, etc.).
UPDATE: As for my thoughts for the GXP characters:
Seina: the new Tenchi
Amane: the new Ryoko
Kiriko: the new Ayeka
Neju: the new Sasami
Fuku: the new Ryo-Ohki
NB: the new Noboyuki
Mitoto: the new Mihoshi (no suprise here)

"After all these years, you know it's not about control. It's about trying to do everything I can. And for you, it's about setting an example. Everyone looks up to you. They listen to you. If you tell them to fight, they'll fight. But they need to be inspired, and let's face it, 'Superman'...the last time you really inspired anyone... was when you were dead." -- Batman, to Superman, Infinite Crisis, issue 1
