Tenchi Muyo! is a pretty good series, but there's always something about each series I felt was dissappointing. In the case of the OVAs, I didn't like the incompletish of the ending. I didn't like the slow start of Tenchi Universe, and the animation in Tenchi in Tokyo is awful. Not to mention the plot is kind of predictable and I didn't like how Tenchi did barely any fighting at all throughout this series. Still, it's a good series and I especially love it's comedic moments. My favorite characters are Sasami, Tsunami, and Washu. They're really isn't very many characters that I hate in Tenchi Muyo! I just can't really think of anyone.

Tenchi Muyo was my second favorite anime at one point. It fell on my list but it's still a favorite of mine. I'm not sure exactly why I like the Tenchi series. I guess it's the humor, most of the characters, and different little adventures.
My favorite characters are Ryoko, Kiyone, and Achika (from the first movie). As for series Universe is my fave. It used to be the OVA but I watched it too many times on CN, and once uncut dubbed. So I got tired of it.
Besides the OVA doesn't have Kiyone!
I didn't like Shin Tenchi/Tenchi in Tokyo too much. It was THAT bad, but not so hot either. And yes the art and animation were terrible.
There's supposed to be a 3rd OVA coming out soon. Or is it already out in Japan?

I think the first episode or two of the 3rd OVA is out already in Japan, with the third coming in a few months iirc.

I used to watch Tenchi on Toonami. I have the 3rd movie (which I only bought to see if who Tenchi ends up with would be revealed. I was of course, disappointed that it wasn't.) I've never seen the original version but the dub was actually good, except for Aeka's voice. I hated Tenchi in Tokyo, though.

Thanks Dinozore. You're probably right so I have to start looking for the eps online soon.
Aeka's Japanese voice sounds a lot like her dub one IMO. They're both grating but I kinda like them. o_O Her Japanese obnoxious laugh is better. It's the classic "Oooohohohohoho!!" laugh. XDI've never seen the original version but the dub was actually good, except for Aeka's voice.

Just yesterday, I remembered how much I like this show. Lookin' at Pretty Sammy garage kits can do that, I guess. I liked certain parts of each series. Yugi was awesome in Tenchi in Tokyo, especially the ending/her story. I can't pinpoint exactly what I liked in the other two, but it was all cool. I think the OAV was my favorite. Washuu is so cute! and I like Ryoko.

Tenchi Muyo was one of my first anime, and I love it now just as much as I loved it then ^^. I like Tenchi because the voices in both languages are great, it's funny, and the story is interesting and entertaining.
My favorite series is Universe, and Shin Tenchi/TiT is my least, but not just because of the story, (It still does make me laugh afterall, and Yugi and her minions were all right) or just the lack of action, (that's never an issue with me anyway) or even just the animation... (even though it had a lot of bad days, there were a few days where it was decent...) It's pretty much a little of all of that, and the characters. Every character has at least 2 moments where you find them so annoying @_@
My fav. characters are Sasami, Kiyone, and Washu... I don't hate any characters..and my fav. movie is Manatsu no Eve/Daughter of Darkness ^^
Yeah, I always thought that too... both the voices can both sound sweet and warm, calm then furious, and then downright arrogant and obnoxious ^^;
When it comes down to who should get Tenchi, I think that Ryoko would be best for him, but I don't hate the possibility of Aeka and Tenchi or Kiyone and Tenchi. Everyone else doesn't seem right, though IMO

Tenchi OAV is just like Kellogg's Corn Flakes: the original and the best.
Tenchi Universe: Good, hilarious, but Ryoko's just hogging the spotlight (and no, I'm not bashing Ryoko; I like her!)
Tenchi in Tokyo: Perhaps the most misunderstood of the series, and I happen to be the few that ENJOYED the series! Liked Sakuya (and no, she did NOT steal Tenchi; he chose to go with her)
And as for my favorite characters:
1. Washu
2. Ayeka (I feel that she gets unfairly bashed, primarily by the zealous Ryoko fans)
3. Sakuya (see above)
4. Ryoko (and to those who are going to flame me for placing her below Sakuya...
)
5. Sasami
Oh, and as for the movies, Tenchi in Love is my fave.

I love the Tenchi OAVs, especially the first six or seven episodes.
I didn't watch too much Tenchi Universe, but I liked what little I saw of it.
I disliked Tenchi in Tokyo. It was poorly written, animated, AND unfunny.
And the only movie I ever saw was Tenchi Muyo in Love (which I liked a lot).
Interesting enough, though, my fav. Tenchi series isn't even technically a Tenchi seres: it's the Pretty Sammy tv series ^^;

The main reason I didn't like about Sakuya wasn't that she "stole" Tenchi, it's just she's too obivious of a character. Like, in one of the episodes (I can't remember which one, it's been ages since I've seen Tenchi in Tokyo), Yugi is watching Sakuya and she says something like "Well, I don't really know what she's thinking right now" and you know right then and there there's something going on here. It just kind of makes her too obivious of a character, if you ask me and that's really the only reason I don't care for Sakuya.DuoTheShinigami02 wrote:

Unlike all the other girls, Sakuya is first seen as a normal human being, and until the end,
nobody, not even Sakuya herself,
is aware that she was just Yugi's creation, and Yugi's the only one that knows it.
Oh, and did you know that, according to a post I've seen, while Ryoko is the most popular character in America, in Japan, the most popular character is..........
Sasami!

Sakuya just wasn't that interesting to me, and I thought her dub voice was kinda annoying (She made a better Mayuka). And IMO it sometimes seemed the way she was animated it's almost like they wanted her to be kinda like Achika.DuoTheShinigami02 wrote:Tenchi in Tokyo: Perhaps the most misunderstood of the series, and I happen to be the few that ENJOYED the series! Am I the ONLY person who appreciates Tenchi in Tokyo?
Also, this might be old news, but for those who may worry that Seina may sound like Goku, they can relax. Funimation is farming out the dubbing of Tenchi GXP to an LA-based studio, so there's a good chance that K.T. Vogt may reprise her role as Washu, as she is one of the original characters that make regular appearances in the series.

I appreciate the latter half of Tenchi in Tokyo. I think the animation has smoothed out a bit by then, and the story turns better as Yugi gets more involved. About the time Ryoko leaves is when the series starts picking up. Or maybe sooner. I haven't seen it in a while. When the 3 henchmen/people start actually being useful. I (heart) the guy w/ the really long sleeve. He's craaaazy. And he dresses like a pirate.
