Millennium Actress

Post by FoxFire » Fri Oct 17, 2003 3:10 pm

Has anyone seen or heard of this movie? I'd never heard of it before, but I was just reading the movie section of my paper and I saw that it was playing at a local theater, and they gave it a good review. I try to never miss the chance to see anime in theaters.

Here's the review

There's also a live action Japanese movie that just opened Returner, which is pretty much supposed to be live action anime.

Yes, I hear people everywhere say it's a great movie! It's about an actress (who is old) and how she looks back upon her acting days. I want to see it so bad but it won't be shown in Hawaii (yet). :(

Well if it's from the director of Perfect Blue I'll have to see it now, that's one of my top 5 anime movies. I'd also love the chance to see an anime movie in theaters subtitled. I've only seen 2 other full length anime movies in theaters (Spirited Away and Cowboy Bebop) and they were both dubbed.

Well I just got back from seeing this movie, and I thought it was great. I'd strongly recommend it if you can find a theater near you playing it. It was funny and cute at times, but also very serious and dramatic. So many of the things most Americans don't think of when they think of anime. Too bad its only playing in a one week engagement, movies like this need time to build buzz.

Sorry for reviving an old thread from 2 years ago but I finally got to see it. XD It's so incredibly sad! I feel so sorry for Chiyoko. Not as confusing as I expected so it's really good.
