Shirahime-Syo

Post by Jed-kun » Mon Dec 22, 2003 9:23 pm

:melts into puddle: OH-MY-GOD! This is sooooooooooooooooo pretty! And the story's are my favorite kind... TRAGIC LOVE! This is the best manga in the world!!![IMO]
Ok, now that that's out of the way, I just wanted to discuse the manga and anything about the story's. I personally loved the art, the story's and the closing line's :drools:
Closing Lines:
Snow Goddess, "It is man's despair that brings the snow...The snow flakes, they are the tears of man..."
And out of all of the story's my favorite was "The Ice Flower".

Here's what I thought of Shirahime-Syo. http://www.smuncensored.com/forums/view ... 1&start=20

I posted it in the CLAMP thread a while back, and I don't feel like repeating it, so I'm just gonna post the link. And Ice Flower was my favorite as well.

I have to agree. The artwork is just too awesome for words in that manga. It kind of depressed me a little with all the sadness, but it really draws you in and enchants you. Kind of like when I read Miyu. I'm really not sure which is my favorite, but the one about the wolf is still stuck in my head.

Shirahime-Syo, a definate must read for anyone!

I agree with everyone else... it's beautiful and tragic and I loved the ending. It doesn't have much substance to it, but it's CLAMP goodness, and it's perfect reading for the middle of winter ^-^

I liked the fact that there wasn't much "substance" or plot to it. You could take in the beautiful art work with minimal dialog and still get something out of it in the end. Like they say "a pictures worth 1,000 words"

I agree with everyone here who likes it. I even got an (indirect) compliment for my taste at Suncoast while I read it! ^^

My favorites are the wolf story and the flower story...

I saw the manga at my bookstore. It's hard-covered! I have never before seen a manga that has a hard cover! Is it only 1 volume?

Yes, just one volume. And I was rather happy about the sudden change from paperback, too! :D

I just bought it and the art...I (heart) it. It's so traditional looking! It's kind of a bummer that the stories are SO short that you can't really get your...I dunno, I guess it'd be 'sadness' all the way up by the end because you're not really 'into' the characters. I think that's why the longest story (the last one, with the cranes) was my favorite. "Ice Flower" was okay, but much too short (but it reminded me of a book I read called "Of the Nightingales That Weep" so I could fill in the gaps myself). Either way, it's all very pretty.

I liked the crane one, but the main character was a bastard so it was hard for me to get into it as much.

Shirahime- syo Clamp

Post by Em » Mon Aug 02, 2004 6:35 pm

I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this Clamp manga? I came across it in a anime shop on hoilday and happened to noice it had gone down in price one quick glance and I had fallen for the manga

Quick plot shall blank out so those that really want to look can
It start wiht this man walking thought the snow and he sees a woman she tell him to go before the snow princess is comming. He truns and say it's snowing beucase the snow princess is crying it then laqnces in to five short stories all tear jerking and they all make the same comment as the man does. Anyway truns out she is the Snow Princess and points out it's not her tears it's the tears of men
The art work on this is to die for it's been done really welland it'snvery nice to read.

So like I said if you have read this/seen it what did you think of it? or have you even heard of it?
The Doctor: What''''s the use of a good quotation if you can''''t change it?

[referring back to Ace''''s earlier, rather transparent denial of packing Nitro-9]
The Seventh Doctor: Ace, give me some of that Nitro-9 you''''re not carrying.

The Seventh Doctor: [the Doctor is knelt coughing on the ground having blown up a Dalek with some nitro-9 explosive. The fuse had a shorter time on it than Ace told him] Ace! You said ten seconds.
Ace: Nobody''''s perfect Professor

I saw a hardcovered edition at Waldenbooks but it didn't appeal to me.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.
