Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch

Post by shansen » Fri Oct 17, 2003 1:22 am

Just seeing how many people watch MMPPP. It's one of my current favourite series. A friend of mine burned up to episode 14 for me, so that's where I'm at.

At my anime club, one of our new members actually works for some fansub groups, and has done some typesetting for A-Flux. The reason they've slowed down recently with respect to MMPPP is that the person who was translating it is now working on Onegai Twins as well.

I've got ... 16 songs from that series? Yikes. I should sort through them. Some of them are simply different seiyuu singing the same song, but they're still all good.

I thought it was only going to be 26 episodes, but the official site lists episodes 27, 28 ... and #29 is airing this upcoming Saturday.

I've been loving on this series since april/may! Can you tell? hehe!

I also figured it'd be only 26 eps but apparently it's doing pretty darn good over there! Of course the longer it goes, the longer it'll take to be released here...but still!

May just have to import the first OST. Good music..and cute anime mermaids...ya just can't go wrong with a series like this!

I like mermaids. But it seemed to kiddyish and fun to me. I like serious anime. And action! But I heard the music was pretty good. :D Their colorful outfits doesn't make them seem like mermaids.

To be honest, I saw your post in the Inuyasha thread, and when I saw your name I realized that there hadn't been a thread about this series in the last forum.

I don't know if it will get released over here ... I would imagine it would be difficult to translate song-based shows into English, since it would either require rewriting a song with an English translation, or simply keeping the Japanese, which would just be weird. Also, it's doubtful that there would be a release with only Japanese-audio ... the SM box sets were a very special case, but in general no one would pick up a show for that.

It will be getting released over here. That was ADV's first announcement at A-kon this weekend. The entire room went crazy when a clean OP began to start playing. ^_^

That's great news! I've really wanted to see the rest of this anime. I've seen the first 5 episodes but Bit Torrent killed my computer so I couldn't download any more. :( But I will be really interested to see how they dub this very cute series. :)

I just heard about this yesterday - it will be interesting to see how this show fares once it gets translated. I imagine they'll have to rework the songs.

The thing is, as the series progresses, they have more songs. I've seen up to 20 (I have 3 others to watch), and if you include the OP and ED, they've had about 10 songs in total - one OP, one ED, one character song per mermaid (3 total) , plus 5 others that seem to have come from out of nowhere.

Still, it's good news overall. I'm quite happy to hear about that.

EDIT: For anyone looking to download MMPPP, both Lunar and Shoujo-Anime have stopped fansubbing it. Shoujo made it up to #23, but that's it. We'll all have to wait for the ADV release now.
