I really wish people (and i'm not saying you're doing t his, tempy, just people in general) would quit equating the fact that I prefer subs with that meaning I think all dubs suck regardless of how they really are.
^^;; When I wrote that, I was afriad people might take it the wrong way. I'm glad you didn't. I didn't mean for it to come off as a slam to everyone who prefers subtitles. I just meant that I wanted to see the dub before I judge it.

I hate the thought that I might be closing my self off to new animes because I might dislike dub. I want to atleaste watch it and say, "I like the plot, but that voice is annyoing" or "Did they have to use that type of slang?". Anytime I watch a TV anime or buy an anime I've never seen, their will be a 50/50 chance I'll like the dubbing. I might get lucky and watch/buy something with a decent dub job. :D

And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

I don't have cable.  Just the regular channels. I DO have a VCR though, but I need a DVD player.

I'm writing this Sailor Moon/Green Lantern crossover AU fic called "Emerald Sunrise". It's a hybrid of Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Comedy. It's about Ami (Sailor Mercury) getting a new boyfriend who just happens to be a member of The Green Lantern Corps. I'm also throwing in some other characters from other animes and some old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the late '60's early '70's. I'm also illustrating it as well. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

Well, if I said I wasn't a little stung by it, i'd be lying. I'm a bit sensitive, becuase people seem to think i'm evil simply becuase I prefer subs and won't buy dubs. There's no need for me to buy dubs, or to even watch them. Of course, if I see an anime on tv, and want to watch it for a bit, yeah, i'll watch it. But that's it. I like anime in its Japanese form, but it doesn't mean I'm judging the dubs before I see them. I just choose not to judge them at all.

I hope it comes to Hawaii soon. :( I'm so excited that it's free! :D I'd watch any anime, dubbed or subbed if it's on TV. Because I am broke and I rarely go out and buy bilingual anime DVDs. On DVDs, I prefer subs though.

MarioKnight wrote:As for my opnion on the station, I was very glad to hear that my Time Warner location was one of the ones that picked it up last month. ^_^ I haven't watched too much off of it yet, as many series on it right now have episodes up somewhere between 3 - 7 for various shows. I've watched the first episode of Princess Nine the first night it went up (it's been two weeks almost, put up episode two!), and watched the You're Under Arrest Movie a couple nights ago. My only criticism for the station is to make a better roataion schedule. Since I discovered the network a couple weeks ago, much of the same stuff is still on it, with the only additions I noticed being the two programs I watched. Last week, I only noticed one addition to the lineup, Aura Battle Dunbine, but they started it on the third episode. Not to mention there's only the first episode up for Princess Nine for close to two weeks now. >.< They should do something like set a day a week to add another episode for a show, and keep doing that, and take away an episode after it's been on for a couple weeks, or something like that. If they did something along those lines instead of changing maybe two things only once a week which it seems like now, I'd be all over it. They should also keep their site more up to date with what's actually on the station too, I don't see anything for P9 up there yet and I'm seeing stuff on shows not currently on there.

Overall, I really like the network, they just need to work on their flaws and get more shows and then it will be fricken awesome.
Hey, you're going at the same pace as we in Memphis are! Here, they update every Friday, but sometimes it will just change to a different day for reasons unknown. I wondered why Aura Battler Dunbine started at the third episode, which is why I didn't watch it.
Notice that both of the new shows have theme songs that rock.
I wish they would put Excel Saga up, I've wanted to see that for sooo bloody long.

Shows currently on The Anime Network:
Aura Battler Dunbine
Blue Seed
Chance Pop Session
Dai-Guard
Gasaraki
Full Metal Panic!
Martian Successor Nadesico
Princess Nine

I think I left out some... I've forgotten the list at the current moment.

I didn't intened what I said to be an insult to anyone. ^^; If I were out to slam others I would have said, "You shouldn't turn your nose up at dub until You've seen it". When I use "I", I use it the way it's supposed to be. Meaning; me or myself.
I'm aware that looked ranty, but I'm not mad. ^^ i'm just explaining what I meant. I'll just have to re-examine my posts before I submit them in the future. ^^;; I didn't mean to offend anyone. Especailly Tiffu.

I know all about the fangs of the whole Dub vs Sub thing. If I say that I like some stuff in subtitles, everyone assumes that only watch subs. If I mention I like some stuff dubbed, I get treated like a child or get my head bitten off with immature insults. ^^;; So I usually try to get my point across with, "I need to see before I judge".

*waves hand* I know you better than that, Tempy. ^_^ I know what you meant, but I wanted to make sure people see my point, as I am getting tired of other people slamming me becuase I like subs and don't care to watch dubs.

Indeed. I'm tired of the whole debate, personally. I'm tired of the labels, like "subbie", "dubbie", and "purist". It seems whenever I mention that I don't watch or like the dub of something, I get a response that's so ridiculously defensive, you'd think I was personally insulting the person responding. I've actually received hate mail from people visiting SMU becuase I don't watch dubs.
It's wonderful to watch something before you judge it. What people don't always understand is that I don't even care to watch it to see IF i'll like it.I have no desire. So why bother? I am content and happy with subs, and I shouldn't have to analyze my reasons to people.

There's also the Tekken movie, You're Under Arrest movie, and the YUA Mini-specials. Also worth noting would be what episodes are on for which show, but I'm too lazy to look up now and see. Here's to the next episode or 2 of P9 on Friday.

How's the tv-rating system treating the anime that's aired on the Anime Network? I take it they still rate the anime like any other tvshow, right? So, what do they rate the series on the network? What's the highest rated show on the Anime Network and what's the lowest rated? I mean, like TVPG and TV14, etc.

I remember that when it first started, the AN showed Excel Saga. But I guess they've taken it off. In fact, they've showed many shows that have been taken off already. It makes sense, considering the channel is almost a year old.

But the shows are still listed at the Anime Network's website. Also, my friend said that he hand to pay for the Anime Network, $5 a month. So what is true? :?

The network's website hasn't been updated in a while, and since me and Sailor X are in different areas and seeing the same listings, I'd say to believe us and not the site. Also, I don't know where you heard that it's $5/month extra, because ADV said from the beginning there would be no extra charge, that it would be part of normal digital service from the start, and I don't pay anything extra for the station.

Actually, I heard from Squirrel. Yes, him. I guess I'll know for sure when it comes. :? What if the cable service charges extra with no consent from ADV?!

ADV Films doesn't wish to charge extra for the channel, but it all depends on the cable company. If Time Warner, or Comcast, or whoever is your current provider, wants you to pay for it, then ADV really can't stop them. They can threaten to remove the channel, but ADV wants it spread too badly to do that.

Jen and I just saw Angelic Layer, and it was pretty decent...dunno how I'll feel about it later, but we'll see ^^;; So far, it doesn't look like we'll be paying anything extra (we have Comcast), but we'll definitely keep you posted.

I don't have the Anime Network ... -_-, Will the cable company please explain to me why they saw fit to include VH1 Country in the channel lineup especially when WE ALREADY HAVE A FREAKING COUNTRY MUSIC STATION, and yet leave us poor anime freaks in the dust.

(But they'd better not get rid of VH1 Classic. VH1 Classic is my heaven.)

It is because the Anime Network is still new and only available in certain places by choice, NOT by your cable company.
