Miyuki-Chan in Wonderland

Post by MonkeyDLuffy » Sun Nov 30, 2003 2:11 am

What the hell? That was one interesting thing Clamp did. I am talking about the DVD, FYI. ADV was quite lazy with this one. The title and credits are in japanese. No english. And there is no english language! I have a button the remote and I tried to change it just to hear and it said "This application is not available" ??? I was quite amused with this. I would say it is more PG 13 than 15+. There arn't any breasts seen. Well, details that is. I was laughing so hard, and my cousin was flipping out. Fun. She said "This is anime porn". I laughed. It was nothing. No tentacles, yay ^.^ Miyuki is so cute >.< Love her! I want the manga of it too. I liked mirrorland the best. Who else bought this DVD? Or the book. Either one.

The title and credits being in Japanese are a good thing. I'd rather have the original text... basically because I'd prefer things to be as close to the original as possible. And English credits are on the disc - you just have to keep watching after the end credits.

The reason for no English dub is that this is an anime which only really appeals to quite a niche group (major CLAMP fans; or people with lesbian fetishes that are too prudish to buy hentai), and making a dub is very expensive. They would almost certainly have made less profit that way, and the price probably would have gone up to boot (and $15 for 30 minutes is already pretty expensive when you think about it).

Anyway ^^;; I have both the manga and the DVD of the anime. I like the manga better, because each chapter is only about 8 pages long, so there's this manic pace with one silly lesbian after another. The anime only adapts the first two chapters, but stretches each of them out to 15 minutes, which removes some of the charm a bit. Still, both the manga and the anime are hilarious!

I'm in agreement with OTF. It's awesome, and I'm glad there's no english track. W00t for Miyuki.

Or those who are too young to buy real hentai. Sob sob. It's so super-cute, though! I wanna be Miyuki. Or at least cosplay. Sigh.

The only Miyuki-chan anime is what ADV released on DVD. (Actually that's not quite true - Miyuki and the buxom lesbians make a brief appearance in the "CLAMP in Wonderland" music video, but that only lasts a few seconds, so it doesn't really count.)

However, if you still don't have the manga yet, I highly recommend it. There are 5 more stories that they didn't make into anime.

I loved the movie and I've seen the manga in stores. Did anybody else notice that the Manga cover that was shown on the Tokyopop web site looked different? I was wondering why they didn't put two sets of ending credit's on... I've seen it done befor.
Nothing sucks like a Jed-kun - The "sloganize" web site.

According to Jake Forbes (the editor of the book), Tokyopop were going to use the design that they put on the website, but the Japanese company involved wouldn't let them. They had to use a design almost identical to the original cover (with the picture in an orange border).

They did. They put the Japanese credits, followed by the English credits.

Or did you mean both at the same time, on alternate angles? They could have done that, but it'd be expensive and pointless. The credits are in Japanese for people who would rather see the original credit text, and an English translation is provided for people who want to be able to read the credits. Everybody wins, even without using alternate angles.

I love Miyuki-Chan in Wonderland! :D

I got the anime alittle after I bought the manga

My FAVORITE part in the anime, is the chess game! Mainly when the chess pieces start bitch slappin'

BTW
The last chapter in the manga, was it suppose it show how crappy the 'X Movie' was? Hence Miyuki's line:
"I'm in some werid movie version of the X manga! This is the worst of the worst!"

Cosplaying is when you dress up like the characters. Have you ever seen the pictures of Anime Conventions in magazines, and people are dressed like Sailor Moon, or Vash the Stampede, or Digiko? That's cosplaying.

I'd be costumed a little out of place. I'd be dressed in the uniform of a member of... The Green Lantern Corps. :) But as to Miyuki-chan In Wonderland, I have the VHS subtitled version. I'm going to try to get the manga version as well. :)
"Oh yeah. Someone is definitely tired of breathing." ("The Main Man", Part 1)

I'm writing this Sailor Moon/Green Lantern crossover AU fic called "Emerald Sunrise". It's a hybrid of Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Comedy. It's about Ami (Sailor Mercury) getting a new boyfriend who just happens to be a member of The Green Lantern Corps. I'm also throwing in some other characters from other animes and some old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the late '60's early '70's. I'm also illustrating it as well. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

Miyuki-chan in Wonderland is strange. I saw it before, and I did find it funny (and I do like Miyuki), but I'm glad I only saw it once.

I have a question about Miyuki.

Was she lesbian, bisexual, or heterosexual?

Because in the manga, she mentioned about 'getting married, and not having a boyfirend' yet she says 'She has never been turned on by (FEMALE) chess pieces before'.

Miyuki's heterosexual, thus her saying that she's never been turned on by them before. It's perfectly normal for a heterosexual to get aroused by male OR female. It doesn't make her bisexual. In the anime, it's VERY obvious she's heterosexual by the way she pushes all the women away and doesn't want to see them naked.
