Where's my Chobits vol. 8?

Post by Luchia Nanami » Thu Oct 16, 2003 11:51 pm

I read that Tokyopop for some stupid reason was relasing it and the box in Borders/Waldenbooks so I ordered it from Border's online..but it still has not come. Why?

Should I just cancel my order and go to the Borders near me and buy it there? I don't wanna wait forever and chance it selling out!

you probably have info on how to track it. if you did ups, then they probably sent an email with the code, you go to UPS's site, type it in, and gives all the info.

Yeah, try going to Borders. For me, Borders didn't even have it on order. But my local Walden Books had it the first day. I'm so glad I got it, since I heard people having problems with it. @@

Also, TOKYOPOP really needs to lower the price on it. It's really thin, and even though it has colored pages, they should have the price at like 4.99, 10 bucks for that is insane.[/b]

but for prices you have to understand, they have to get the manga from japan, translate it, re-write it on new paper, then finally print a bagillion copies. thats why its at 9.99$, its not that bad compared to Viz's old prices. besides, get one of those cards at one of the bookstores that you get 10% off, that way, its only 8.99$ ^^

The rest of the Chobits manga is on sale for $9.99. But the last volume with half of the pages is still $9.99! To me, that's just unfair. :? Even with the, what, three colored pages? That's still not worth $9.99.

On sale for 9.99?

Sakuya, Chobits has always been 9.99...

Probably to encourage you to buy it with the box & figurine.

I got mine today and wow yeah, it is alot shorter then the others but that's fine. The box barely fits them all as it is. A tight squeeze x.x

The only question that remains is what manga do I start getting next?

If you like plain ol' romance stories, I would suggest MARS! I borrowed the first two (huge) volumes at the library. The girl cries too much in my opinion. :? The art could get some getting used to.

I would also suggest Vampire Princess Miyu. But they are expensive. $16.

Last weekend I was at a mall and I checked both Waldenbooks and Suncoast and they didn't have Chobits Vol. 8. Then I was in some electronics store that had a little anime section that also sold manga, and they had it there. I found that a little odd.

Maybe it was sold out? Hey, it happens. For Vol.7, I waited until several months later to get it because I didn't want to have my parents drive me all the way downtown just to get a manga. So by the time I arrived, there was no longer any Vol.7 so I had to go to another store where only one Vol.7 was available. And I grabbed it. :)

I'm having a harrrrrd time finding the first Chobits disc with box. With or without stationary kit. This sucks badly cause I've checked like 10 different sites. :( Even though I hate Geneon I was actually probably going to start getting this series but without the box..hm.. I just don't know.

That's the last volume, ne? I read it.
Honestly, I was kind of disappointed with it.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I'd just buy it without the box, then.

Why do you hate Geneon?

They must likely stopped producing the box. I bought mine around a month after it was released. I've never seen it with the stationary kit, and last time I saw the box was around 4 months ago.

Both versions have been out of print for months now.

They gave up on Tenchi.
Then Sailor Moon.
Their POKéMON releases were pretty bad(or was that Viz?)
And in general they tend to overprice their stuff compared to others.

But it's not that I don't have problems with other companies..

I found one at bargainanime.com! woohoo! Sounds like a kinda shady place but it's part of yahoo so it can't be that bad.

Try Pet Shop of Horrors. While it can get gory, it's very nice and sweet

Well, it depends on what you like. I myself am probably going to start buying another CLAMP series once I've finished reading Chobits. Yeah, I know, I"m pretty far behind. I'm only at vol 3. I'm far behind reading Cardcaptor Sakura, too. I'm only at vol 7 with Cardcaptor Sakura, and I can't vol 8 for sale, anywhere. I'm starting to wonder if it's out of print, or something. *shrugs* I myself would like to check out Angelic Layer next. I've heard that Angelic Layer supposedly takes place in the same universe as Chobits, so I'm interested in reading it (although I already know that the plots of Chobits and Angelic Layer aren't related).

Didn't want to start a new thread about Chobits, but I just wanted to say that I just recently finished watching the anime, and I really liked it. And from what you guys have said, the manga is just as good as, or better? I'll have to pick up a few volumes of it to see.

Uh...in my opinoin, the anime sucked, and the manga is WAY better. *shrug* Everything about the anime irritated me, whereas I was sucked into the manga from beginning to end.
