Tokyo Mew Mew~!

Post by Anthy » Thu Nov 27, 2003 2:37 pm

I think this series is adorable. It's about five middle-school girls who gain the magical powers of endangered species by DNA splicing or something. Oh yes, and they dress up as maids and work in a confections cafe as their headquaters. Shush, mahou shoujo doesn't have to make sense. ^^

The anime hasn't been released domestically in the US yet, but the manga seems to be getting popular. It's quite girly and similar to Sailormoon. I've only seen the first episode and the first volume of the manga. So far, Minto is my favorite. The ending theme of the series is SO FRICCKIN' CUTE. AUGH. x_X

In the manga they say Mint...Or you mis spelled and I'm looking into this too much. I have read the first 3 volumes and want more. The cuteness will suck you in! O.o And the anime....no. I dislike it compared to the manga. It doesn't live up to it >.< If it was released...I would only get the first volume on DVD to watch the bilingualness. Very cute and I recommend it to anyone!

I think Minto is the romanization of the name. Is it overly cute? I found out that I can't sit very long when watching other mahou shoujo anime *coughcardcaptorsakuracough* besides Sailormoon. I tend to go to the restrooms a lot, get something to eat, get soda, go restrooms...hehe..it looks cute though.

I've seen it both ways, actually. Like Lettuce and Retasu. This page, "My Sweet Heart," (link) uses Minto, so I just jumped on the bandwagon.

Oh, well, just thought to say :P I think it is overly cute in a good way. You may want to move around, but you keep an eye on it.

I love Tokyo Mew Mew. It's so cute. I've read the first 4 volumes and I can't wait for the next one! I can't wait to see what happens to Ichigo. Everyone seems to like her.

Tokyo Pop is taking forever to release the series.

I don't know why, but I just always seem to read a lot of magical girl series. they're just too cute to put down. I do wish they would do more with the other girls too. Lettuce is so shy and cute. Mint reminds me of anime version of Rei.

I've actually really enjoyed this series. I've been downloading it, but it's only been fansubbed up to episode 31 (there are 52 episodes total).

I haven't read any of the manga.

I saw the first episode of Tokyo Mew Mew and it was ok. I don't know why, but it just didn't appeal to me that much. I might check out the manga, since it seems to be better...

Your link isn't working... you need to get rid of the quotes.

Anyway, I haven't seen this series or read the manga. I'm sure it's lots of fun, but it sounds very... generic *shrug*

^^ I just started watching/reading it about a month ago. I love it, and so do my friends (I let them borrow my manga book of it). I've seen up to episode 10 and I've read the first book.

T_T I wanna see Tokyo Mew-Mew for its sheer cuteness factor.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Crap. I was wondering what I did wrong. ><;
Thanks for the info. ::changes:: ^^

It's superbly cute if absolutely nothing else. The animal DNA plot makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but hell, who cares? Cute little girls in kitty ears! ^^

Although it's incredibly cute, I didn't have an emotional attachment to any of the characters like I did in Sailormoon, so I wasn't too moved when they had problems.

Erm, ah...*has a diabetic shock*

I don't know which one of these is more sickeningly cute: this one or Sugar. I don't think it's bad - hell, for what I believe is a Sailormoon parody, it's pretty good - it's just that cutesy things like this don't do it for me. But yes, if you are in to the hyper-adorable, check out this series. You won't regret it.

I really like it, actually. I think I'm a fan of the girl-team anime and manga. I like Zakuro the best since she reminds me of Diana my dog. (and her color is purple...WEEEE!!!) I have the first three manga and want to find the anime.

So far as I've seen, I like the plot of saving the animals. I also like the people crossed with the animals (reminds me of the Ranma curses, especially when Ichigo turns into a cat). I'm also a BIG sucker for food names and just weird names in general.

Eeeeeeeeeeee!!! I LOVE this manga! Unfortunatly I havn't seen the series. When I first bought it I thought "Hey, this is kinda nice. It's like Sailor Moon meets Strawberry Shortcake + a truck load shipment of sugar. And the art is pretty, too." However, I was also under the impression that it was only 4 volumes long : >< shakes fist, I was lied to:, butit is acctually 14 volumes. So now I'm stuck in a long term relationship that cost's 10 dollars each volume. Oh, well, it's worth it!... [unfortunatly by the time it ends I'm gonna be a Male College student purchasing little girl manga... I can feel the burning stares of "your a pedifile arn't you!" already].

Does anyone know where subtitled episodes of Tokyo Mew Mew can be found? Or even raw Japanese ones? Any Internet clips out there that aren't .wmv format, which my iBook can't play? I really wish I could see it, especially since I don't think I get FoxBox, so I can't even watch the dub when that comes out.

Personally, I'd start with the manga. Since it's finished releasing, you can just read through the entire thing. And the side stories are very adorable too. Definately a must read. The girls are cute as littel animal/human kindergardeners.

The ending was so touching. Kish was cool. Deep Blue was a bit scary. Thankfully Ichigo was able to save everyone....we knew she could do it!
I love weddings, even if it's not completely for real. I'm so glad she was able to save her boyfriend from killing everyone on the planet. Although it was breath taking for a moment when she fought the other girls and then again when she gave him all her strength so he would live
