Anime Remakes You'd Like To See

Post by Cardcaptor Takato » Sun Aug 19, 2007 9:32 pm

Inspired by the Sailor Moon thread, what are some other anime you'd like to see be remade and why? Whenever Arakawa finishes writing it, I'd personally love to see a remake of FMA that stays closer to the original manga. The anime starts off following the manga pretty accurately but about mid-way through the series the anime verges off into its own original storyline. While the anime's original plot was entertaining in its own right, there were moments where it was very inconsistent and it had too many gaping plot holes, especially in the movie which I found to be rather rushed and disappointing compared to the TV show. I've just been enjoying how the manga explores more of the alchemy world with different races from other countries beyond just Ishbal searching for the Philosopher's Stone and it'd be really cool to see some of the other different types of alchemy in the manga be brought to life with animation and see Al using alchemy
without circles
. Even the manga-based episodes of the TV show had several significant changes made to it and I just enjoy the manga plot more. Like some deaths are different in the manga, Wrath, Sloth, and Pride are entirely different characters (I never understood why the anime version Sloth's was called that since she didn't have any sort of sloth-like characteristics), Winry has her own sub-plot where she trains under an auto-mail mechanic to improve her auto-mail skills, the main villain of the series is completely different, and Greed's
death actually makes sense in the manga
. I just think it'd be cool to see the original FMA plot be animated since so many FMA fans seem to be more familiar with the anime version than the manga but end up missing out on an incredible different take of the series and I just really loved FMA and would enjoy seeing more of it animated.

Im glad I read this thanks to a friend of mine I have the FMA series but im sort of afraid to watch it because I know how strongly I felt about the manga differences in alot of shows I like but mainly SM. I think I should try to get my hands on the FMA manga first before I sit down and finish the series cause I got some of it watched and I am enjoying it but I can see it now just like with Sailor moon the differences will drive me mad. As for other shows there are too many Anime shows ive seen and not read the manga counterparts yet so for this thread I guess a stay tuned title can be hung on my forehead. Cause right now im collecting the galaxy train 999 series and trying to get the manga for that to and the manga is what drew me in so hopefully the anime is not too different from it.
"Have you been half asleep? And have youve heard voices?
I hear them calling my name."
Is this the sweet sound, that calls the young sailors?
The voice maybe one in the same.
Ive heard it too many times to ignore it,
its something that I sposed to be..
Someday we''''ll find it, the rainbow connection
The lover, the dreamer, and me..."
