2004 looks like to be a good year for AS.

AS is picking up Witch Hunter Robin!? Sweet Deal.

I'm not a fan of Ghost in the Shell, though.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

I don't like how they are going to start showing Witch Hunter Robin on the Adult Swim. It feels as if anime is so mainstream and easily accessible now -- I wish it was a little more obscure. I think there's something special about having to save up money and wait weeks for an anime DVD or video to arrive, or to wait several hours for an anime to finish downloading because you feel so rewarded in the end. Nowadays all anyone has to do is turn on the TV and find any anime they want on there, which irritates me because I prefer things to be a little more obscure and less accessible. Did that make any sense? ^^;

You might think I'm weird for this, but I think there's something special about having to order anime or wait for hours for it to finish downloading because you just feel rewarded after the long wait and/or the money spent on it, and also I like knowing that it's harder to see or find, that a person can't just turn on the TV at a certain time and find it on. It feels so cheap when all you have to do is turn on the TV at a certain time to watch anime and that anyone can watch it now. I miss back when Sailormoon, Dragonball Z and Pokemon were pretty much the only anime on TV and anime wasn't so popular. Makes me sick.

I'm not trying to disrespect your opinion Stephen, but I agree with Dinozore.

I support anime of television. I wouldn't have been hooked on anime if it wasn't for anime being shown of national TV. And I'm happy that people can see that their are varities of anime other then "Children Adapted" animes.
I consider Animes, and everything else I like, as something enjoyable not a reward for something. But I guess it's really how you look at things. Some people will work all week at school or at a job and consider it a treat to purchase anime or to watch it at their own leisure.

If you feel that Network Anime is so bad, express your opinions to the Cartoon Network/Adult Swim program schedulers. I know how this sounds, but I'm not being sarcastic. I'm sure you can locate an email address or something on the site. If not, request that they forward it to the correct people.

I think I see the point that Stephen is trying to get across, and I disagree with it. I think anime is more obsure than you think it is, as the titles that appear on American TV is a pretty small percentage of DVDs and such released. I can understand how people would like to be involved in a more of niche market, but anime is still just that, only growing a bit. More titles are airing, and even more are being released on DVD. I myself am happy with the stance of anime right now, the popularity gain allows more and more shows to come over here for us to enjoy instead of having to scour the internet for VHS or downloadable fansubs. I still feel the same accomplishment of when an episode downloads that you mention and the fact I pretty much do have to order all my anime to get what I'm looking for at a decent price. If anime were so popular, then it would be much more affordable and all releases would be top of the line, none of this crap we see from some anime releases. While I agree that anime isn't as much as a niche market as it used to be, it's still not popular in the mainstream to make a really big difference.

Back on topic, I saw the card that that article reported on, and I was pretty happy with it, can't wait to see what else they'll announce with these announcements made already. I knew Witch Hunter Robin was coming, but seeing Wolf's Rain on the probably list was a nice suprise.

*Ponders* I'm in agreement with both sides.

On one hand, I think it's great that more and more people are getting into anime, whether it's through TV or through fansubs, or through the downloading of episodes.

However, I hate the fact that there has to be so much edited, chopped-up anime in order for this to happen. Think of Sailor Moon. In order for there to be a large of an American fanbase as there is today, the show was completely changed, and in my opinion, destroyed. It isn't until AFTER people have seen the dub and the sub gets more mainstream that they finally get to see the original.

The ideal situation in my mind is to show anime uncut and unedited, or at least, as close to the original as possible, and I truly believe that's what Adult Swim is trying to do. So I do respect the fact that Adult Swim is out there for those who can't necessarily get their hands on subs, but can at least see a decent, dubbed version of their favorite shows.

Yes, the animation is quite lovely. I've seen one episode of Witch Hunter Robin, and it kinda bored me, but that may be because it was really late and I was very hyper ^^;;;

Cool! They're getting Witch Hunter Robin! I'm very impressed with CN. I just hope they don't mess it up somehow. Like, hold it back or something like that. Anyway, it looks like good things are happening to Adult's Swim.

OMG! I found out my wonderful Aunt that is like rich and not even blood related, is going to "probably" get my house cable! That means Adult Swim *drooools* ....someone get me a towel....Anyway, yay for more anime. The more on TV, the better. If it gets good ratings, means more anime will be put on and liscensed for more hits. Even if they are aimed at kids, it is still good. These days, almost all anime's are coming Bilingual on DVDs which means they get to see both versions and compare. Which means I won't have to go so far to buy DVDs ^.^ Cable.....*drools so much he gets dehidrated* wh....wha.....water....
