Anime that takes a few episodes to get into

Post by Rin » Sat Aug 26, 2006 1:17 am

You know that anime that you start watching, the first few episodes aren't all that great and maybe even suck, but for some reason you just keep watching and all of the sudden it turns out to be really awesone. Yeah those. Which anime have you experienced this with?

Neon Genesis Evangelion- I saw the first two episodes and thought it wasn't all that great, but I decided to give it another try. Watched the next two and still thought it sucked. Watched the next two and started to get interested. Watched passed episode eight and fell in love with the series and the characters. Second half of the series is especially good.

Haibane Renmei- Very slow starting out, the entire first disc was hard to not zone out during. I figured it was only thirteen episodes and decided to stick with it. Second disc picked up the story and now it's one of my favorite anime.

One Piece- First episode, its kind of strange because it was almost too fast paced and I was a little confused. Had to watch a few more episodes to get hooked.

Bleach- It seriously took me ten episodes to get into this series. I don't even know why I stuck with it, but there was just something about this series that kept me interested. Now I love it.
Currently watching: Sailor Moon S movie

I feel like a major dork for even mentioning this, but Inuyasha seems like that kind of show. The first ten or so episodes after the first one are hit and miss, but around episode 14-ish, it starts to pick up.

=P usually if I get through two episodes and can't stand it, I don't watch anymore.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I like giving shows a chance. Could be that the first two just weren't that great. xD I guess the slow-pacing is why they aired the Battle Aboard The St. Anne first in America before airing the first episodes of the series. The beginning of Pokemon is a snore-fest.

Haibane-Renmei drives me nuts in the first two or three episodes, but I do love its slow-pacing. xD AMAZING series.

>>>Lucario learns a move called "Tonbogaeri". This is a move in Judo feauturing a kick to the groin. Yes, they''ve actually made "Kick Him in the Nuts" an attack. It should SO do 150% more damage to male Pokemon. XD

it usually takes me 2 or 3 episodes to determine if a show is good enough for me to buy my own set of it.

Kaelido Star was a good example of this for me as well as Kiddy Grade.

The opposite is true for Naruto and Yu Yu Hakusho. They both started out really cool but eventually they just seemed to devolve into another DBZ rip off

I just never enjoyed the martial arts beat everything up while screaming shows.
