Anybody know if this is an anime, or some other type of cartoon? The AMV creator didnt explain what it was. I thought it was a really old anime at first, but I'm not too sure.

Figured I'd post here as I need help with an anime.
When I was about 9 or 10 I was in a restaurant in Ibiza and they had an anime on the TV. The mute was on so I couldn't hear it. It had a woman with long black hair and a man and I assumed they were in love. Then the man stabbed the woman with what looked like a sewing needle O_o and the next scene was of a grave (I think it was the womans) and the man was putting something on it.
Sorry it's vague but we left the restauraunt before I had a good enough look at it. If anyone knows what it is I'd be very grateful.
