I first saw this when it was fansubed, and that's when I knew I had to buy it when it came out. Thankfully the dubbing was done very well with a professional cast (Steve Burton, George Newburn, Quinton Flynn, Crisipin Freeman, and Steve Blum among others). I thought that Tifa and Loz were kinda wonky at times, but nothing ear bleeding.

I loved the new version of One Winged Angel, and changing the lyrics was risky, but I think they work well with the movie and it was a nice surprise. Speed Metal + Classical + Latin Vocals = Total Awesome.

There is relay only one big complaint I have: They translated zuru zuru zuruzuru (a Japanese onomatopoeia for waiting around doing nothing) as
Shilly Shally Dilly Dally
uh...I manly used the spoiler tags to spare people the pain, its just that bad.

Also, did anyone else find it disturbing that the same guy that plays Superman on JLA also plays Sephiroth? Especially since he dose both parts very well.

I finally got around to seeing it and really enjoyed it. I loved the feeling of nostalgia I got from seeing the all the same beloved characters again. My favorite character in it would be Tifa as she was my favorite character in the game as well, and in AC she was really strong, supportive and beautiful.

I've just gotten around to watching it. I've never played a Final Fantasy, but I still was able to get the story- with help from the reminisiance thing on the DVD.

THe fights... it was a bit much, I think. THe initial one, with Cloud on the motorbike versus the summons things and the blue-haired guys.... I think Yazoo and Loz was... I had no freaking clue what was happening. The motorbike chase was crazy... the Bahatmut fight was kida... decipherable. The sepiroth battle was really good, IMO. I could tell what exactly was going on in it... unlike others.

OVerall, I think it was really good. Tifa had a good role. The scenes with Aeris were done well.

James: For some reason I'm seeing you in a nurse's uniform...
Steve: Thank you Jeff, that will be all. ... He's not here, is he? Oh God I've internalized him...

I LOVED this movie,, it was soooo great. My favorite character was Tifa, and cloud, they both are awesome.
The DUB version was excellent, the best I've ever seen, but still, I like the japanese, maybe its just cuz I saw it first. But still, the movie, and the game too, are seriously, THE BEST.

I've got a DVD a couple of days ago, and after a quick look at it, it seems to be good, though I have to admit I didn't see the whole movie yet, due to lack of time.

BTW, for a sneak preview:

Japanese version
English version
"After all these years, you know it's not about control. It's about trying to do everything I can. And for you, it's about setting an example. Everyone looks up to you. They listen to you. If you tell them to fight, they'll fight. But they need to be inspired, and let's face it, 'Superman'...the last time you really inspired anyone... was when you were dead." -- Batman, to Superman, Infinite Crisis, issue 1

I just saw it recently and I enjoyed it although I wish the characters of Clouds party got more screen time. I mean, Red only had one line at the end.

I thought the dubbing was good for the most part. Although Aeris's voice made me feel like I had a mouth full of sugar every time she spoke, but maybe that just because I didn't imagine her sounding like that. And Cait Sith... What the hell was that? How does a robot cat have a Scottish accent?

And I don't know if this has to be in spoilers or not but...
How did Rufus managed to survive? It's been a few years since I've played the game so maybe I'm just remembering it wrong, but wasn't he in an explosion? He didn't have any burn marks in the movie and apparently didn't really need that wheel chair.

And there was some guy named Tseng in the movie. Didn't he die as well in the game? Or maybe I got the wrong person
I enjoyed it but I wish it were longer.

Well, we never SEE rufus actually die. You can assume that his injuries in AC were a result of what happened in the explosion. Actually there's a few shots of the explosion ina flashback in AC. Obviously we just all assume he survived =)

And as far as tseng goes, in the US version it did make the notion that Tseng died, however that was a mistranslation and the original japanese version never hinted at that at all, instead making it a big more clear that he was still alive.
Ah ok.
Maybe Rufus had a fire ring on at the time of the explosion and instead of killing him, the fire gave him health back... It was fire ring that did that right?
I gotta play that game again soon.

He ducked?

That would be totally awesome if that were the explanation

A collector's edition of Advent Children has been released which does include the Last Order OVA for those interested.
Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you''ve got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.
