..............Well, I'll take over then.........

Who here has seen Advent Children and/or owns the DVD?

I freaking loved the movie. I was scared at first because of the horrible voice acting in Kingdom Hearts 2 (and someone had told me that they used the same VAs for KH2 and AC), but the dub of this was REALLY....REALLY......REALLY awesome. By far the best dub I have ever seen. In fact, it was so good, it rivals the Japanese track in terms of quality (i'm not sure which track I like better).

My favorite scene was the very last one. In order to avoid spoilers, I wont even say what's in it, but for those of you who have seen the movie, you know what scene I'm talking about.

I'm not a huge Final Fantasy fan in general, but I loved this movie. I watched the Japanese original version, with subtitles.

The graphics were beautiful, simply gorgeous, and the whole thing was emotional. I was a bit confused, becuase I hadn't ever played FF7, and some things had to be explained to me by my boyfriend (whose favorite FF game is FF7). My favorite scene was
When Aerith was in the field of flowers with Cloud.
=P Bob, use the spoiler button if you don't want to spoil it for anyone.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Advent Children = awesome.

Advent Children with a bunch of gamer guys and a lot of beer = more awesome.

(...but seriously, good movie. ;) And Maaya Sakamoto as Aerith FTW)

I *loved* Advent Children *points to scrumptious Reno avatar* . I saw the fansub version of it shortly after the torrent was available. I have the offical DVD and, much like Bob, absolutely love the dubbed version.

The graphics were stunning. They did such a terrific job with the CG animation and character animation. Favorite character? Can we say, "Reno"?

I forgot to mention that while I do really like the movie, I can't watch it often because it feels too fight scene heavy. I know it's aimed at fanboys and that's the reason for that, but for the record, I would have liked it a whole lot more had they included more character development like in the game. The fight scenes WERE breathtaking and some of the best fight scenes I've ever seen, but again... they are probably 4/5 of the movie. IMO they could have cut it down to Tifa's and the Bahamut/Sephiroth final battle one and it would have been just as climactic if not even more so since we haven't been watching mostly fighting already for the past hour.

This version of One Winged Angel is just... wow. I never liked the song in the game because I found it too corny and bleepy-bloopy but add a full orchestra and an electric guitar? What an amazing arrangement.

Favorite character-wise... in the game, it's a tie between Aerith and Yuffie. But in the movie neither of them really had much to do. Then again, neither did most of the supporting characters. So in the movie, my favorites were Cloud and Sephiroth... they were both perfectly done. (And by far the most badass? Mmhm.) Also, as much as I hate Tifa in the game, I did like her a lot more in the movie, and her fight scene was incredible.

And I must mention that Vincent's Japanese voice is hot.

I have not watched the dub, nor do I plan to.

I saw the movie when it was first leaked out on the internets.
Obviously, it was in Japanese.
Yes, I liked it. Granted I was confused just a tad because I never completed the game (for that matter, I never owned it), but I got the jist of what was going on.

Then...

BAM

It comes out on DVD in english and 15 people at the SciFi Club at my college rushes out to get it for $15.00.

Yeah, we watched it in English.

I liked it.

Is this any good if you have never played Final Fantasy but played all the Kingdom Hearts?

You're missing out, seriously.

The movie has absolutely nothing to do with Kingdom Hearts. The only thing Kingdom Hearts will do for you is maybe make it so you're familiar with a few of the characters.

but don't worry, the movie gives a bit of backstory, and there's an extra feature on the DVD that does a semi-decent job of recapping the game.

PS - I also loved Reno. He was a bit better in the Japanese version but still good in English. Love your avatar Tempy =D

(EDIT: Added more to my post :-P)
Yeah , you don't learn that much about FF7 from Kingdom Hearts. As long as you haven't played FF7, you will be confused about some parts in the movie.

Anyway I don't have this movie on DVD, and don't plan on getting it for some time after all those delays. I saw the movie awhile ago, and loved it. The animation was brilliant, and so was the music, especially the "remixes" from the game.

Reno was my fave in the movie too because he was so damn adorable. People say his comedic nature "ruined" his character, but it was more like an add on. Aeris is my favorite FF7 char though.

If anything this movie made me appreciate the following more than I already did: Aeris, Reno, Tifa, Cloud, and Yuffie (despite her lack of screen time). Keep in mind that Aeris
still had a LOAD of importance in the plot for a dead character. The connection between her and Cloud was touching
Cloud felt more developed in this movie, with more personality. I wasn't a huge fan of his in the game. Tifa displayed more courage and how much she can truly kick ass. Plus I think the movie showed how well she and Cloud go together as a couple. And Yuffie was still funny and bubbly. It was cool to see her in action

I also loved the ending scene,
the way they had Aeris and Zack walk away together.
However on the downside, AC somewhat warped my opinion on Sephiroth's character, in a negative way. He was one of my favorites, but because of certain story elements in AC, he seems more one-dimensional to me now. What I thought of him before until the end of FF7 conflicts with his persona in AC.

The other thing I didn't like too much was as someone already said, the fight scenes were a bit excessive. Well when you look at the movie and the game together, it's a good balance in the end. Since the game has a really good story and not as action packed in the FMVs.

Bleepy bloopy? I thought the original was great for it to be synthesized. Of course, I kinda have a thing for synthesized music, which is probably why I have the ripped PSF floating around on a backup disk somewhere. ^_^;

A full orchestral version of One Winged Angel? Now I have to see the movie.

The fully orchastrated version of One Winged Angel isn't in the movie (however, they do play a clip of it in the DVD menus). The version of One Winged Angel in the movie (i think it's titled Resurrection) is a hybrid between rock and orchestra. Personally, I didn't like it. They changed the lyrics, which didn't sit well with me (i'm just used to the original).

I wish they had just used the orchastrated version of OWA in the movie but oh well.

NGH - If you want to hear the fully orchastrated version, just search on a p2p program. It's actually really old, from like 2001 or maybe even earlier.

Yeah there's an orchestrated version of OWA from one of the FF music CDs. The Kingdom Hearts version of OWA was also fully orchestrated. Personally I like all of the versions.
