Fushugi Yugi

I finally got to see the first volume of the anime series. I liked it, but I liked Miaka in the manga better. She seemed a little smarter in the manga and not quite so tactless.

So far I've read all the manga up to date....why can't it be January, I want to know what happens!

Ok, I do agree that she does run that whole pity thing too much. Her intentions are good and she honestly does want to make things right on her own without any help. I give her major points for that, but she really needs to learn to admit to herself that its ok to need others. Although if I were in some of those situations, I'd probably do something similar at that age. (as much as I hate to admit that. I don't know, I guess I just didn't have much common sense when I was younger.)

I've read the first volume of Fushigi Yuugi. It's an 18 volume series, however the first part of the story ends at volume 13, I believe. I sorta like Miaka...the main reason why I bought the manga was because in one of the pages she screams, GIMME BACK MY FOOD!!! And that TOTALLY reminded me of...ME!

What I don't like about her, based on what I've read so far, is that she seems soo naive...but meh. But I started getting into it...need money...

So what is better? The t.v. series or the manga? Cuz so far, I'm digging the manga.

I love this anime! I never read any of the manga. I think the storyline is just beautiful. Many spots of it leave me teary eyed and give me chills. This a long with Sailor Moon are my favorite anime's.

Heres an anime i think people would like. well, i mean if people like Sailormoon i have a feeling they'd really like Fushigi yuugi ^_^ my second favorite anime....competing with Bleach. but yeah =) anyone ever seen Fushigi Yuugi before? whos you're favorite character?

I'm fond of Yui. I think she's a very complex character, and I like how realistic her reactions are to certain situations. A lot of people badmouth Yui and wonder why "she's so mean to Miaakkaaa", but really...if I were told the things she was told, I'd be pissed, too.

yeah i agree with you to an extent. i mean you wouldnt blame Yui for doing what she did, but at the same time, if she realized how serious her friendship is with miaka, she would try a bit harder to find out whats going on and hear things out. Yui went through a lot =( thats a fact, but she should've atleast tried just a bit harder to hear miaka out or hear anyone out for that matter.. duno.. i just think miaka and yui's friendship was a strong friendship, and if they both thought wisely, there friendship would have been shoken but not broken off completely. its good that at the end she helps miaka though, she realizes that miaka was really always up to help yui out, at all times

I tried to enjoy this series, but the main character Miaka just got on my nerves way too much. What really bugged me the most was that she would run off by herself because she didn't want her guardians to get hurt, and then she would end up getting her ass saved by them, often getting one of them injured.

Tasuki gets just about his whole body burned while Miaka only has a broken arm. So who gets healed and who has to wait a whole day? I was never so pissed off while watching an anime when Miaka was the first healed.

And how many times can someone be walked in on half dressed?

But I did like most of the other characters specifically Nuriko, Tasuki, and that guy who wasn't really one of the Suzaku Senshi but a spy and had a twin.

I read the first three volumes back in 2002. I liked it well enough and if I found the manga somewhere I might read it over and through.

From what I can remember my least favorite character was Miaka. I didn't hate her or anything but I didn't really care about her either. I just couldn't relate to her at all. I did really like the supporting cast and what i got to see of Yui and other people from Miaka's world.
