How is that perverted? If they love eachother, and feel that passion for eachother, then it's perfectly natural for that issue to come up. Persocoms are treated as people in Chobits, and many treat them as a girlfriend and such. I don't think it's perverted at all.
You know, for a while I've wondered if there were Persocoms made for that very purpose...

I think that's where CLAMP has their undoing, really. Their endings. It's like they get bored with their stories. For instance, Chobits and Wish both kept building and building, and then all of a sudden it's just "okay we're done." I liked the ending for Cardcaptor Sakura, and I think that had they ended Rayearth after the first three manga it would have been much better.
"I loved you. I was a pentapod monster, but I love you. I was despicable and brutal and turpid, mais je t'aimais, je t'aimais. And there were times when I knew how you felt, and it was hell to know it. My Lolita girl, brave Dolly Schuller."

Hmm... I can kinda see what you mean, even though I really liked the ending of Magic Knight Rayearth. :) I haven't read many mangas by Clamp, but I think that series had the most beautiful art, its so detailed.

I've read the first 3 volumes of Cardcaptor Sakura and I'm waiting for the next boxset (sheesh, hurry up Amazon!!!) and it looks really cute, I've seen the first anime season and really like the characterisations in this series. :)

I don't know how much of a hand they had in X the Movie, nor can I really say much without having seen the series, but the same pattern seems to follow there, too...
The movie started out interesting enough, but it ended up being a gratuitous display of violence and murder, culminating in the grande finale with Kamui decapitating Fuuma, then holding his head in his arms and crying out to the sky. No explinations, no development after that....just a sense of "Here it is. Deal."
I wonder if I can turn it in for some cash somewhere...definitely the low point in my collection ^^;

Chobits ^_^

Post by whitewolf05 » Fri May 21, 2004 9:21 am

Just recently saw a chobits anime and read a chobits manga. It was a classic "I came I saw I read and I like it". Have to say that the chobits theme song so far was the most up beat one yet that I heard.

MOD EDIT: whitewolf, I merged your topic with the ongoing CLAMP thread, which deals with Chobits and other works by this group.

It seems like every time a new Clamp manga comes out, I just fall in love all over again. Tokyo Babylon looks so awesome! However, I have been enchanted by The Legend of Chun Hyang. It's based off a korean legend with a twist. Chun is so awesome. She's young and can put anyone in their place.

Has anyone else read any of the lastest manga yet? "The One I Love" is coming out next month! I can't wait!

Tokyo Babylon is a prequel to X, so if you like X, it's probably right up your alley. It's very good - I own all of it in Japanese thanks to a friend. :)

As for my favorites... I'd have to say Tokyo Babylon, X, and Wish, but CCS is very cute and so is Angelic Layer.

My favorite CLAMP work is Magic Knight Rayearth (whee, look, Fuu-chan avatar ^_^). Their art style is also my favorite of all the manga-ka that I've seen so far.

I finally bought "The One I Love". No words describe how much this manga has moved me. It includes 12 short stories about different aspects of love. Like, one chapter is called Cute and it talks about how the word cute doesn't always mean cute. Another chapter is called I Miss You and is about a girl who is frustrated because her boyfriend's job takes up a ton of his time. It talks alot from the girl's stand point. And my favorites are "Apart" and "Pretty". The first deals with a long distance relationship and the other talks about wanting to look your best for your loved one. At the end of each story is a short essay about the story and the personal experiences of CLAMP.

What just drew me into this was how they were able to say exactly how I feel. This is going to be well read, just like "Man of Many Faces". The more I read, the more I start to understand love better.

Well, anyway I just wanted to share the latest from the CLAMP universe. If your looking for something cute or just really heart felt, I strongly suggest this. It's amazing which stories really fit you.

I've been considering buying CLAMP's Clover, but I'm hesitent to buy it. The preview on the back doesn't give you much information, but it does sound good. Could someone tell me if the manga is worth buying or not?

My favorites are Chobits and Magic Knight Rayearth. I also like Carcaptor Sakura. I've only seen the anime, but since I've yet to see a show that is better then the book, I'm quite sure I'll love the mangas more then the anime. While I liked the Chobits anime, I was disappointed that they dragged out the show and then rushed the ending. The dub for Cardcaptor Sakura was awful, even worse then Sailor Moon. At least DiC released the shows in order. Thank God for the DVDs which doesn't even include the dub.

I really enjoyed Tsubasa for some reason, I guess I just like the sweetness factor and the inclusion of other Clamp mangas. Chobits would be my second favorite because it's extremely funny and Chi is just adorable... the anime just doesn't hold a cande to it.. though the cliched ending was just annoying. Finally, my third fave would be xxxHolic simply because it rocks.
