What's your favorite CLAMP manga(s)?

Post by Chibi chibi star » Sun Nov 09, 2003 3:24 pm

Hi-hi! I love CLAMP like a lot of people, so this place is for peoples to say what their fave CLAMP manga(s) is/are and why. Mine have got to be Chobits and X-1999. Chobits cuz I love Plum and I think Hideki's funny and cute in a perverted way  and X because the art and storyline grabs me. I hear the (recent) anime is good!

I haven't read just a whole lot of Clamp, so I'll have to go with Chobits, although the ending was a bit blah.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Chobits. So far, it's the only CLAMP thing I like (though Angelic Layer looks pretty good too)

Am I the only person who notices that no one in Chobits has pupils in their eyes?

I have only read Chobits so far and it's pretty good! I want to get Tokyopop's reprinted Magic Knights Rayearth. I have played the RPG game so I basically know the storyline already and I think it's pretty good with the major plot twist.

Oh, yeah, I also like Cardcaptor Sakura! It's just (next to Sailor Moon) one of the best magical girls' manga/anime ever! Plus, I love it when Tomyo dresses up Sakura in her costumes. She even makes a cute collar for Kero-chan!

I like every CLAMP manga I've read, except for X/1999, Clover, and CLAMP School Detectives. I love their shoujo work, but their shonen stuff just isn't as great. My favourites, though, are definetely WISH, CCS, and Chobits.

I tried to get into Wish, but I just couldn't. I dunno what it was...I just got bored of it after about two books. As for Clover, I've always wanted to read that one. I LOVE the art. Of course, CLAMP's art is supremely lovely anyway.

I love all of CLAMP's series that I've read so far. So far, I've only read Cardcaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, Wish, and am now reading Chobits. Chobits has been very good so far, with all it's pervyness, but I always smile whenever I see Chii (expect in the sad moments, of course). Wish had some really wonderful characters, but I felt like it ended too soon. Just when you're starting to like everyone, it ends! I wish they could have more, or at least made it longer. I wish they made a Wish anime too, but unfortunately, that never happened. Magic Knight Rayearth was great for all the plot twists. I loved the ending to the first story arc. It was just great. I love all the characters in Magic Knight Rayearth, too. My personal favs however, are Umi and Mokona. I've only seen the first season of the Magic Knight Rayearth anime, and from what I've seen so far, I've personally liked the manga so much more. Cardcaptor Sakura is the only anime series I've seen so far where I actually like the anime more than the manga, and I like the series perfect length of 70 episodes and two movies (although the first movie was kind of a let down to me). If the series is too short, you don't feel like you've gotten enough of it, and when the series is too long, it starts to become repeative. I'd love to read more of CLAMP's other works, and I definetly plan to, once I finish reading Cardcaptor Sakura and Chobits.

Angelic Layer - all
Magic Knight Rayearth - all
Card Captor Sakura - all
Chobits - up to manga 8 I think.

*I'm a spoiler addict... how many volumes are there for Chobits ? How does it end ? I'm downloading the anime but I want to know about the manga TT_TT... don't worry, I know it's weird to like spoilers but I'm like that o.O*

Um..... the 8th manga is the last of Chobits. o_0?

Oh, and Tiff: Don't feel weird. One thing I've noticed about WISH is that people either love it, or they can't get into it. I have two friends who can't get into it, and two others who absolutely love it. My only problem with it is that it feels like CLAMP just got bored with the story towards the end, because everything is resolved in a kinda anti-climactic way.

Really? Well, that's refreshing. I've only read two books, so I have no idea what happens beyond that. It was cute, but it got kinda flat for me.

The only thing I like from CLAMP is Cardcaptor Sakura. Chobits is okay, but I never really went to much for it. Maybe if I watch the Anime, I will change my mind.

I didn't like the anime at all. A lot of people do, and a lot of people don't. I think it's one of those love or hate things.

No, I've noticed it too. Angelic Layer is the same way. None pupils. And I suggest Angelic Layer. It's really funny.
I've liked everything by CLAMP that I've read, but some more than others. I LOVED the first arc of MKR, and about half the second. The end was super lame. Angelic Layer was somewhat that way, too...*waggles hand* but not so much so. It was very good tho. X/1999 is yummy. I've only read the first Chobits, but I like it. I REALLY want to read Clover, but it is super expensive (I REFUSE to pay $14.95 for a book that has LESS pages than most manga.). CLAMPs art is a big hook. It draws me in...

The only ones I've read all the way through are Magic Knight Rayearth and Chobits. I loved them both, but if I had to give it to one I'd choose Chobits.

I love CLAMP! currently reading X/1999 and Chobits. Yeah I agree about Wish, either you love it or you can't understand it. I enjoyed it. The romance was just so cute and all. The ending was kind of blah... for me. that and trying to figure out genders. That really made my mind reel while reading it.

Clamp School Detectives was so awesome! Man of Many Faces is still my fave. I read it whenever I need a boost or need to rethink a little about relationships. Duyulon Clamp School Defenders was super confusing in the beginning for me, but it was cute too. Did they ever really fight in that manga. Just seemed like it was action for 3 seconds and then it was over. *shrugs* Maybe I read it wrong. Angelic Layer is too cool.

I recommend that everyone check out the redone Magic Knight Rayearth. It is very well done in my opinion. Just like Card Captor Sakura. The second time seems to be the charm.

I couldn't get into Clover past the first book. and Miyuki-chan in Wonderland looks very scary from the little bit that I glanced over in the bookstore.

I can't wait for future releases from them!

If I had to pick only one it would be Cardcaptor Sakura. But, I also like Magic Knight Rayearth. I like a lot of their other titles, but these two are the only ones I read to the end.

Well, my favorites are Chobits, Wish, and Magic Knight Rayearth(manga-wise). I only saw 12 episodes of the CCS anime, and 8 of MKR. I only read about a volume of Angelic Layer and I do plan on seeing the anime.

Their works aren't the absolute greatest like everyone says they are, but I do love them! ^_^

Well I haven't read much CLAMP but I'm going to go with:

-Magic Knight Rayearth
-Card Captor Sakura
-Clover - only read the first one, but the art is really nice (except sometimes the guys look too tall and lanky) and the story is interesting
Tsubasa - I just started this, but it's really interesting ^^

I really wanna read Chobits though...;_;

EDIT: I just read the second Clover.. I must say I'm a little shocked..
I can't believe Sue died! I thought maybe Ran or Kazuhiko would be the one. ;_;
