You would if you had read all the posts. Dinozore said that in Japanese, R and L are interchangeable. Then I mentioned the doll in direct quote to that.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I DID read Dinozore's post. I thought your post was talking about an American change that was because of the L/R thing, probably because I now associate misspellings of the characters' names with the USA instead of the country they come from.

Ugh, that reminds me of the Utena dub, changing Miki to Mickey.

Original:

"It's Kaoru Miki-kun, or just Miki."

Dub:

"That's Miki Kaoru [horribly mispronounced], or just Mickey."
There is actually a distinction in the original between two names that he is called - "Miki" (his real name) and "Mikki" (his nickname). I believe there's Japanese merchandise that has his nickname written in Roman letters as "Micky" or "Mickey". This isn't just something the translator pulled out of his ass.

it seems to me that the entire cast of the Harlock Saga dub was dreadful

If you have the dvd, and watch the "behind the scenes" extra.... oh god.. it's almost funny

one of the actors said that he ways drank to "warm up" his vocal chords (camera pans to a table full of half empty whiskey bottles)
Is that gratitude?

Wow, I really didn't know that. Thanks, OTF

Also, the flashback from the second-to-last episode Misty has is completely redone. In the JP version, it features EVERYONE. In the dub it just focuses on Misty and Ash pretty much.

I just watched a dub of some Hello Kitty fairytales (they all had modern twists, like Sleeping Kitty would fall asleep from watching TV instead of pricking her finger on a spindle), and I found three stupid dub things:
1) The main villainess had noticeably poor emoting in her voice acting compared to the other characters--she sounded like she was just reading her lines instead of acting them sometimes.
2) One time she said "Curses, foiled again" but she was smiling. This may have been a dub screw-up like when Queen Beryl was originally praising Jadeite but was dubbed as scolding him. (in the dieting story)
3) Pies were called "lemon merengue" (sp?) but they were pink with a cherry on top. This might have been another dub error.

I enjoyed the video in general (Hello Kitty seems pretty neat), but I just noticed those little things that would be interesting to note here.

Right. I nearly forgot that part. ^^;

Oh, and with Tenkuu no Escaflowne...the translations were good, I just didn't like the voice casting. To me, they don't sound very convincing. They sound rather robotic. :?

There's only one that deserves to be chewed out, and that is Robotech.

And I can blame it on Rebecca Forstadt's "singing", as she sucks at that. Did you know that the most common joke about her that she sang those songs while she was drunk?
"After all these years, you know it's not about control. It's about trying to do everything I can. And for you, it's about setting an example. Everyone looks up to you. They listen to you. If you tell them to fight, they'll fight. But they need to be inspired, and let's face it, 'Superman'...the last time you really inspired anyone... was when you were dead." -- Batman, to Superman, Infinite Crisis, issue 1
